Music is magic! Music speaks louder than words and it is a “language” that the whole world can understand. A piece of music can produce a response in the heart and mind. Like feeling an electric current or receiving a personal radio signal, music has a spiritual effect on a person. Different kinds of music influence people in different ways.
I have listened to music through my life. When I was twelve years old, the Beatles came to America and my whole world opened up. Maybe young people today cannot understand the influence of the Beatles when its music took off in America. Its influence changed the way we dressed, looked, acted and spoke, and even our culture. The Beatles arrived in America from the UK just three months after the assassination (暗杀) of President John F. Kennedy, which had put America into a great depression (萧条期). And the freshness and lively spirit of the Beatles were exactly what the country needed to refresh itself.
Music links the heart of the hearer with that of the composer. This means that it mixes the spirit of the composer with your spirit when you listen to it. And music can take your spirit out of your body and transport you to another world. Music has a great way of touching people. Music can make you laugh, cry or shout. It's also a great source of inspiration.
Try this one day and notice what happens: make yourself a cup of tea, sit on your sofa and play one of your favourite songs. Close your eyes, and soon you'll find yourself creating vivid mental images-matching the music that you are listening to.

How do young people learn best? This is something I think about a lot when teaching foreign languages to young people. I often find that traditional teaching methods are neither always effective nor interesting for young brains to learn a foreign language.
After moving to southern Italy I was lucky to have the chance to run a private course teaching English to under 7-year-olds. I was aware that children liked to sing and enjoyed games so I wanted to use these tools to help my students develop English conversation skills. I found some fun and easy songs online, which they loved. I also found the English versions of some nursery rhymes they recognized. All of them were very interesting and helpful but students could still not have a basic conversation in English.
I knew I wanted these guys to be fully immersed in the language I was teaching and I also wanted them to speak it. I was keen to give 90% of my lessons in English but I knew it'd be difficult to get them to speak in a foreign language they had little or zero exposure to outside our lessons, so I had to come up with a simple yet effective plan.
One day I decided to prepare a simple dialogue in English, so that I could get them to sing and chant (有节奏地反复地唱) it, rather than simply getting students to repeat the phrases. I discovered that chanting some conversational sentences was the way to get students to speak in English-it worked!
So when teaching English to young people now, I encourage them to make up their own songs and chants to help them remember expressions or complex sentences.
5.What is the passage mainly talking about?
A.How to make young learners like a foreign language.
B.How to teach foreign languages to young people.

8.What can be inferred from the passage?

B.A teacher can never tell where his influence stops.
C.A teacher should understand his students' needs.
D.Confidence is the first step on the way to success.

Hollywood movies can be exciting films but sometimes all you want is a little light-hearted entertainment.
Have you heard of Bollywood? All singing, all dancing and unrealistic, it is the perfect alternative to normal Hollywood movies. Bollywood is the Indian film industry, based in Mumbai, formerly known as Bombay. __1__ Yet Bollywood is the largest producer of films in the world. This year the Indian Filmgare Awards, Bollywood's Oscars, turn 50 years old.
The typical Bollywood movie usually has the following ingredients: a cup of romance, a tea-spoon of comedy, a dash of international sightseeing, served with a huge slice of singing and dancing. There will also be one brave hero, one beautiful heroine and one bad guy. __2__
Bollywood films are full of ideal things and free of daily worries. __3__ The actors change clothes and locations within a single song. But the audience don't mind. To Indian movie lovers, especially the poor, such films are a gateway to heaven and the stars are their gods. The films take them to a magical world away from their everyday troubles. The films tell them the impossible is possible and that true love conquers all.
__4__ Behind the beautiful scenes, Bollywood still emphasises traditional family values. In most films, if two lovers want to break an arranged marriage, they can't just run away. They must win over their parents.
Bollywood is a decent refreshing replacement for those over-stimulating Hollywood films. __5__ They will take you to a brighter, cheerier and more colourful world, where it's still cool to dance around a tree and sing a love song.
