【缤纷自然篇】-1We know that many animals do not stay in one place. Birds, fish and other animals move from one place to another at a certain time. They move for different reasons: most of them move to find food more easily, but others move to get away from places that are too crowded. When cold weather comes, many birds move to warmer places to find food. Some fishes give birth in warm water and move to cold water to feed. The most famous migration (迁移) is probably the migration of fish, which is called “salmon”. This fish is born in fresh water but it travels many miles to salt water. There it spends its life. When it is old, it returns to its birthplace in fresh water. Then it gives birth and dies. In northern Europe, there is a kind of mouse. They leave their mountain homes when they become too crowded. They move downto the low land. Sometimes they move all the way to the seaside, and many of them are killed when they fall into the sea.Recently (近来), scientists have studied the migration of a kind of lobster (龙虾). Every year, when the season of the bad weather arrives, the lobsters get into a long line and start to walkacross the floor of the ocean. Nobody knows why they do this, and nobody knows where they go.So, sometimes we know why humans and animals move from one place to another, but at othertimes we don’t. Maybe living things just like to travel.1.Most animals move from one place to another at a certain time to _______.A.give birthB. enjoy warmer weatherC. find food more easilyD. find beautiful places2.The fish called “salmon” spends a long time in ______.A. salt waterB. riversC. fresh waterD. its birthplace3.The mice in northern Europe move when _______.A. they give birthB. the place gets too crowdedC. the weather is badD. they haven’t enough food4.The lobsters move ________.A. to the fresh waterB. at a certain timeC. to the underseaD. to find more food5.What is the main idea of the passage?A.Animals move to find food more easily.B.The migration of the fish called “salmon” is the most famous migration.C.Living things move from one place to another because they like to travel.D. Sometimes we know why and how living things move from one place to another, but sometimes we don’t.【答案与解析】这篇短文讲述了某些生物的迁移这一自然现象,并分析了迁移的原因。

中考阅读理解(1)有些人为了要扩张耕地和工地面积,试图把湿地变成农田,变成建筑,可是这是决不行的!因为湿地对我们人类来说是十分重要的。
There are many wetlands(湿地)in China and some of them have become the world‘s important wetlands. The Chinese Yellow Sea Wetlands are among them. They are in Yancheng,Jiangsu Province. They are home for many different kinds of birds and animals. The world’s largest Milu Deer Nature Reserve(自然保护区)is in them. More than 700 milu deer live freely there. There are not many red-crowned cranes in the world, but every winter you can see some in the Red-crowned Cranes Nature Reserve in the Yellow Sea Wetlands. The temperature in the wetlands is usually neither too high nor too low. There is a lot of rain and sunshine, too. They are really good places for wildlife(野生生物)。
Offering food and home for some special kinds of animals and birds is not the only reason why we need to protect wetlands. Wetlands are important because they also prevent flood. But some people want to change the wetlands to make more space for farms and buildings. This means there will be less and less space for wildlife. Luckily, more and more people are beginning to realize the important of wetlands and wildlife. Every year,on February 2nd,many activities are held to tell people more about wetlands.根据以上短文内容,然后从每题所给的四个选项中选择最佳选项。

2014年陕西中考英语作文
2014年陕西中考英语作文In the summer of 2014, the city of Xi'an in Shaanxi Province was bustling with the usual energy, but for the students of middle school, it was a time of intense preparation and anticipation. The middle school examination, a pivotal moment in their educational journey, was approaching, and English, as a universal language, played a crucial role in their curriculum. The examination not only tested their linguistic abilities but also their capacity to express their thoughts, ideas, and perspectives in a language not native to them. It was an opportunity for them to showcase their years of learning and their understanding of the world through the lens of a foreign language. As the students sat down to pen their essays, they were asked to reflect on a topic that was close to their hearts and their homes: the transformation of their city. Xi'an, known for its rich history and as the starting point of the Silk Road, had undergone significant changes over the years. The students were tasked with capturing the essence of this transformation in their writing. They wrote about the ancient city walls that still stood proudly, now surrounded by modern buildings and bustling traffic. They described the harmony between the old and the new, where traditional tea houses coexisted with contemporary coffee shops. They spoke of the city's advancements in technology and infrastructure, which had improved the quality of life for its residents.Their essays painted a picture of a city that respected its past while embracing the future. They talked about the environmental efforts to preserve the city's natural beauty amidst urban development. They shared stories of local festivals that continued to thrive, bringing together people of all ages in celebration of their culture and heritage.Through their words, the students conveyed a sense of pride in their city's achievements and a hope for its continued prosperity. They articulated their dreams and aspirations, not just for themselves, but for Xi'an as well. Their essays were a testamentto their education and their teachers' dedication, reflecting a deep understanding of the language and the ability to communicate complex ideas with clarity and elegance. The 2014 Shaanxi middle school English composition was more than just an examination; it was a narrative of growth, a dialogue between generations, and a bridge connecting the local to the global. It was a demonstration of the power of language to transcend boundaries and unite people in shared experiences and common goals. As the students concluded their essays, they left behind a piece of their hearts on the paper, a narrative that was uniquely theirs yet universally understood. Their words were a celebration of their identity, their city, and the unifying force of the English language. In crafting their compositions, the students adhered to the principles of effective writing. They avoided superfluous content and focused on delivering a coherent and cohesive narrative. Their language was vivid yet concise, bringing to life the images and emotions associated with their topic. They ensured that their document was of high quality, free from errors, and devoid of any unrelated material. The 2014 Shaanxi middle school English composition stood as a milestone for the students, marking their transition from learners to communicators, from local citizens to global participants. It was a journey of self-discovery and expression, one that would remain with them as they moved forward in their educational and personal lives. 。
