While you can study abroad in France and focus on nearly any subject,it’s the students with a passion for the arts, architecture and history that rush to the country in the largest numbers. And that’s no shock, considering that France has been the center of the arts for centuries。

As students of the arts, you will have to make careful use of your time, given all that France has to offer.

●Read the works of such French literary geniuses as Baudelaire, Proust and Voltaire;
●Listen to the music of Debussy, or mor e contemporary (当代的) artists like Air

●The Gothic Chateau de Chambord, built in the 1500s;
●Place Dauphine built i n 1607 in Baroque style;
●The post—modern housing development, Marne—la—Vallee。

History students will find that France has been where the action is for quite some time。

Over the course of the centuries, it has been the stage for the most important developments in the history of mankind, including the French Revolution, the rise of Napoleon and the rise of the Fifth Republic under President Charles de Gaulle。

It was also the site of the D-Day invasion (诺曼底登陆) of world War II.
As a possible study abroad location, France has a lot to offer, because the combination of educational institutions (教育机构), arts and culture, and national history are second to none。

24。

Perhaps people think you may use Wi-Fi free of charge if there are chances. Please read the following views。

Is it wrong to use someone else's wireless (Wi-Fi) connection(连接)? Just recently, a man was arrested for doing just that。

At that time, he was sitting in the street with a laptop(便携式电脑) and using an unsecured(无安全保护措施) wireless connection to surf the Net. What do you think about this topic? Listen to the following different views on it。

For a start, if someone is using your Internet service or downloading, this will
affect your speed of access or download limit。

Also, it’s bad for Internet service providers. They will suffer in the long run because fewer people will pay for an Internet service if they know they can get it for free. And finally, just imagine this: what if the person who is stealing your Internet connection has something to do with an illegal activity? I think the police are totally right to arrest these criminals(犯罪).
—by Sandra Wilkins
Basically, if the person who paid for the service still has everything they paid for, what’s the problem? It's just like using the light from streetlamps to read your book, or watching someone else's firework display。

It's not stealing.
Also, if you leave your wireless connection unsecured, then it is your own fault (过错) if someone else uses it。

Just as you wouldn't leave your front door unlocked, or your car door open, neither should you leave your wireless connection open。

By leaving your wireless connection open, you are inviting people to use it。

Securing your wireless connection is as easy as clicking a few settings on your router(路由器)。

And finally, haven’t the police got more i mportant crimes to solve? They’re always saying how they haven't got the manpower to solve real issues。

But this is just ridiculous(荒谬的)。

—by James Hoarley

Light travels at a speed which is about a million times faster than the speed of sound. In one second, light travels about 300,000 km, but sound travels only 344m。

You can get some idea of this difference by watching the start of a race. If you stand some distance away from the starter, you can see smoke come from his gun before the sound reaches your ears. This great speed of light produces (产生) some strange facts。

Sunlight takes about 8 minutes to reach us。

If you look at the light of the moon tonight,
remember that the light rays(光线)left the moon 1。

3 seconds before they reached you。

The nearest star is so far away that the light which you can see from it tonight started to travel towards you four years ago at a speed of nearly 2 million km per minute. In some cases(在某种情况下)the light from one of tonight’s stars started on its journey to you before you were born.
Thus, if we want to be honest, we cannot say “The stars are shinning tonight。

”We have to say,“The stars look pretty。

They were shining four years ago but their light has only just reached Earth。

32。

If you stand 200 meters away from a man who is firing a gun to start a race, you will find out that _____。

A。

you can hear the gun before you see the smoke。

B. sound does not travel as fast as light.
C. the sound of the gun will reach you before the man fires his gun。

D. sound travels about a million times faster than light。

B。

moves less quickly
C. travels much more quickly
D. is less powerful
34。

What does “it” in the second paragraph refer to?

light rays C. the nearest star D。

the moon
35。

The scientific way of saying “ The stars are shining tonight" should be________。

A. the stars have been shining all the time。

B。

the stars seen tonight will be shining four years later.
C. the stars were shining long ago but are seen tonight。

D。

the starlight seen today could be seen four years ago.

Dear Bill,
How nice to hear from you!In your letter you talked about your difficulties with your Chinese Learning. Well, my advice is that first you practice speaking Chinese every day for at least 15 minutes, and learn some everyday Chinese by heart. Then, it is a must to learn to some easy tapes, say, for 20 minutes every day, till one day you think it's time for more difficult ones. As for writing, doing simple readings as much as you can and taking some possible notes will be of much help。

Besides, writing something in Chinese every day, such as keeping diaries, will greatly improve your writing skills as well as the way you think in Chinese。

Hoping they will do some good to your Chinese learning
Best wishes!
Yours
Li Hua

be the problem?
W: Well, it just doesn't play songs.

W: Hi, Mr. White。

I heard that you’ve just come back from China。

How do you like Chinese people? I know they are very hardworking。

M: Well, they are very honest。

Let me tell you about an interesting experience I had there。

I worked in a language training school there。

I lost my wallet 3 times there, and each time I got it back。

The first time was in a pub. I was drunk and left my wallet with about 900 yuan on the counter. The pub owner happened to know one of my friends and has him return it to me。

Another time was when I was in a taxi going home late at night. My wallet slipped out of my pocket and I didn’t notice。

A few days later, a policeman called me, and I went to the police station to fetch it. The third time was when I was traveling in a mountainous area. I went into a shop to buy some water and I left my wallet with my credit card and ID card on the counter. The shop owner mailed my wallet to me.。
