Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a short essay based on the picture below. You should start your essay with a brief account of the impact of the Internet on learning and then explain why education does n’t simply mean learning to obtain information. You should write at least 120 words but no more than 180 words.
“Once I learn how to use Google, isn’t that all the education I really need?”
14分作文
This picture is actually a mirror of the growing impact the Internet has on people’s process of learning. There’s no denying that the Internet does make learning more convenient. However, we shouldn’t overlook the fact that this easy access to obtain information can make people think that education is no longer necessary and that one can be equally well-educated just using the Internet.
Those holding this view tend to misunderstand the real sense of education, which lies in the following. Firstly, obtaining information doesn’t necessarily lead to obtaining truth. We find the Internet convenient and useful because we are well-educated and capable of telling right from wrong. We should owe this capability to education. Secondly, through education one learns not only to obtain the truth, but to think. Thinking makes us innovative and creative. Furthermore, it is
thinking that helps us learn about morality. From my point of view, creativity and morality are what the society needs to grow healthier.
To conclude, education doesn’t simply mean obtaining information. Education can never be replaced by Internet learning.
作文二
Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a short essay based on the picture below. You should start your essay with a brief account of the impact of the Internet on the way people communicate and then explain whether electronic communication can replace face-to-face contact. You should write at least 120 words but no more than 180 words.
“Dear Andy --- How are you? Your mother and I are fine. We both miss you and hope you are doing well. We look forward to seeing you again the next time your computer crashes and you come down-stairs for something to eat. Love, Mom and Dad.”
14分作文
Nowadays, with the development of science and technology, great changes have taken place in people’s life. For instance, they communicate on the Internet more often than talk face to face. Even the communication between the parents and their son is mostly on the Internet --- though they live in the same house!
It is true that our life becomes more and more convenient, benefiting from varieties of new technologies. People can chat online in a more relaxed manner, thus saving time and avoiding some embarrassment.
Now that electronic communication is so popular today, can it replace face-to-face contact? Definitely not. We can’t deny that electronic communication is a modern trend in our life, but if all your relationship is only connected by the Internet, that will be horrible! On the contrary, face-to-face contact makes people more energetic, outgoing and positive, while electronic communication makes them less sociable, lonesome and passive. So, although there have been so many people communicating on the Internet, it can never take the place of face-to-face contact.
作文三
Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a short essay based on the picture below. You should start your essay with a brief account of the increasing use of the mobile phone in people’s life and explain the consequences of overusing it. You should write at least 120 words but no more than 180 words.
People are crossing the street looking at their cell phones and using walking sticks in order to see.
14分作文
In the picture, we can see a dangerous scene of people crossing the street with their eyes fixed on
their cell phones. They are using their walking sticks to see. How ridiculous this is.
With cell phones becoming more and more powerful, people rely on them in almost every aspect of their life. Actually, cell phones are so popular that I’m afraid that they are overused.
Nowadays, people prefer virtual social network instead of face-to-face communication. It is common to see people having meals together talking little but just looking at their cell phones. Because of the cell phone, people now do little exercise and such diseases as obesity and high blood pressure are developed. Last but not least, it has led to so-called cell-phone addiction, which means that when they are not holding their phones they will feel insecure.
The overuse of cell phones has led to serious consequences. It is high time that we realize the problem and try to develop a more healthy life style.
