As soon as he finished his homework, Eric jumped onto his bicycle and rode off in the direction (⽅向) of the beach. While he was riding along, he thought about the whales. He hoped he would see
them again today.

When my mom bought me this for Christmas I didn’t know what it would be like. I never heard about the American writer Ransom Riggs before. But, after reading it, I found it was a book full of surprises.
The book is called Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Childre n (《怪屋⼥孩》). It’s about a boy called Jacob who had suffered (遭受) a tragedy (悲剧) within his family. He then travels from the US to an island off the coast of Wales and finds that past inhabitants (居民) might have been put on the island for a reason.
Magically he goes back to another time where he meets the inhabitants of the home. He comes to
a strange world and meets many unlucky things there. All of the people at the house have strange talents. Some of them are not accepted in the outside world.
My favorite character is Miss Peregrine. She i s strange but lovely. She cares for all things around her and keeps them in line. She also helps the children to live with their powers (⼒量).
I have loved reading this book. I give this book a score of 9.5 out of 10. Although the language might be difficul t for second language English speakers, it’s still a good book that you should never miss. And it’s a good way to improve your English. I would recommend (推荐) it for those who are over 12 years old.
