EACH vs EVERY
Both words refer to something that is singular. But EACH refers to an individual person or thing, so the focus is on the individual person or thing; EVERY refers to a group of people or things lumped together as one, the emphasis in on the collective group.
两个词均用来表示单数。

但EACH侧重的是整体中的个体；EVERY侧重的是整个整体。

EACH:
◆We use EACH when there are two or more objects and is followed by a singular countable noun.
◆强调两个或两个以上的人或事物中的每一个个体，用EACH + 单数可数名词。

★In a football match, each team has 11 players.
★在足球比赛中，每队有11名球员。

★There are a lot of trees on each side of the street.
★街道两旁有很多树。

★I wore gold earrings on each ear.
★我的两只耳朵上都戴了金耳环。

★Each student in the class took turns to read.
★班上的每个学生轮流读。

◆EACH can also be used alone as a subject and an appositive.
◆EACH也可单独使用，在句中作主语和同位语。

★None of the rooms were the same. Each was different. (subject = each one)
★这些房间没有一间是相同的，每一间都不一样。

（主语，可用each one代替。

）★Each has his own work. (subject = each one)
★每个人都有各自该做的工作。

（主语，可用each one代替。

★How many pens do you each have? (appositive)

◆EACH can be used with plural nouns but must be followed by the word OF:
◆EACH后面可加复数名词，但后面必须有OF：

◆each of +复数指示代词或人称代词...
★Each of the dogs jumped over the fence.
★每只狗都跳过了栅栏。

★Each of the students brought a dictionary.

EVERY:
◆We use EVERY when there are three or more objects and is followed by
a singular countable noun.
◆用于三个或三个以上的人或事物，结构为：EVERY + 单数可数名词。

★Every teacher had to attend the training day.
★每位老师都必须出席培训日。

★I would like to visit every country in the world.
★我想去世界上的每一个国家旅行。

◆EVERY cannot be used alone, you can use EVERY ONE instead.
◆EVERY不能单独使用，可以用EVERY ONE代替。

★Have you read all of these books?
Yes, every one.
★这些书你都读过吗？
是的，每一本。

◆EVERY ONE OF + 复数可数名词…
★I’ve read every one of these books.
★这些书，我每一本都读过。

◆EVERY and not EACH is used to say how often something happens.
◆EVERY可以用来表示某事发生的频率。

★There is a bus every 20 minutes.
★每20分钟就有一趟公交车。

★I take a study break every 3 hours.
★每学习3小时，我就休息一次。

★固定搭配：every other + 单数可数名词= every two + 复数可数名词，意为“每隔一……，每两个……”。

★We have English classes every other day/every two days, Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
★我们每隔一天上英语课，星期一，星期三和星期五。

★Take this medicine every other hour/every two hours.
★这药每两小时吃一次。

◆Phrase: EACH AND EVERY + a singular noun of a group to emphasize that you mean all the members of that group.
◆EACH AND EVERY + 单数可数名词(+ of )，进一步强调整体中的每一个成员。

★Each and every person responsible for this murder will be brought to justice.
★参与这起谋杀案的所有人都将被绳之以法。

★Each side of a square is the same length.

◆When we are talking about three or more people or things, they can be interchangeable. But the focus is on the individual with EACH and the group with EVERY.

★Every time I see you, you look different.
