This stereotype is not only inaccurate but also harmful because it can create pressure and expectations that are not necessarily based on one's abilities or interests. Another example is when I visited a country in Europe, and some locals assumed that I was not fluent in English because I was from Asia. This assumption is also unfair because it disregards the fact that English is a widely spoken
language in many parts of Asia.
Culture bias can also be seen in media representation, where certain cultures are portrayed in a negative or stereotypical way. For instance, Hollywood movies often depict Asians as nerdy or martial arts experts, which reinforces the stereotype that Asians are good at math and martial arts but lack social skills or creativity.
To overcome culture bias, we need to be aware of our own cultural background and avoid making assumptions about others based on their culture. We should also be open-minded and willing to learn about other cultures, which can help us appreciate and respect diversity.
