工作方向：就业方向主要在于风险分析，信用分析等，Mentor有一个学姐在做能源行业的数据分析，主要是金融行业的数据分析，跟Data Science挺像的，但区别在于还需要修一些商科的课程，出去的话，跟Marketing和MSF相比，比较有竞争优势，不仅可以做市场和金融，还会有一些技能~但跟二级市场的人相比，是拼不过的，因为是跟MFE的人PK。

做咨询的也OK，或者Advisoring （Accounting, Marketing 或者金融专业的人也会申请）实习或者科研的偏好：大多数BA会有先修课程要求，没有的也会推荐你修过一些数学统计相关的课程，并且会一门编程语言，所以对数理还是有一定的要求。

Rochester上一级中国学生90%本科背景是商务，金融背景，美本的话计算机，精算或者是保险方向工作五年的人~对数理得要Rochester上一届的人，现专业42个人，入学时录取了30个人，从MSF，MSKT转来了十几个人（过来以后找Career advisor或者重新提交申请转过来），中国人大概1/2，扣掉华裔或者海本大概1/3的大陆本，（不全是985，有贸大的，南开的，有北大的-不过在marketing 专业，中央财经大学，人大的也有，还挺多，清华的在MSF那边-7/140学生找到工作）也有非211的学校），几乎所有的大陆本都有海外交换经历，大陆学生的实习，大多在500强实习过，德勤IBM等相对比较常见，60%-70%美资公司实习过。

比如：MITBA,GaTechAnalytic,CMU-MSIM（BIDAtrack）,UTAutin-BuineAnalytic 等。

数理背景不够，因为我只上了我们专业要求的计量经济学，应用统计，python等，linearprogramming，R都是在申请提交后学的。

所以我建议文科本的同学在时间允许的情况下，还是尽早多修基础编程，统计课等。

比如：DukeQuantitativeManagement,USCMSBA等4.BA相关的实习作为商学院下面的专业，那对于实习经历的要求和其他商科专业是一样的。

个人认为，有大公司、知名外企的实习固然能给自己背景加分。

BA(Business Analytics),相信很多同学应该对这个专业比较陌生，是近几年的新兴商科热门专业之一。

目前BA的人才非常受欢迎，尤其是名校背景BA出身的同学。

许多美国的顶级大学也在这几年开设BA项目来吸引学生。

并且大部分学校的BA项目属于STEM专业，而BA当中的Data Analytics,则是最容易获得HB1签证的专业。

一．什么是商业分析专业？
BA(Business Analytics)以商业知识为基础，数理编程为手段，从数据分析出发，以决策优化来创造价值的新兴专业，实现Big Data的商业应用。

本专业绝大多数都是以就业为导向的，贴合就业实际Big Data---Analytical Work的角度来培养学生。

这个行业的核心就是数据分析，而且是高深的技术、模型和算法。

通过对数据的深度分析、挖掘来研究公司以往的业绩，对行业市场潜在的商业信息的搜索等。

目的是获取那些通过定性分析和简单的定量分析根本无法获得的insights。

二．商业分析硕士申请人背景偏好
一般而言BA都开设在商学院下，如UT Austin,Rochester,MSU,GWU等；有些设置在工程学院下，如Northwestern,Cornell University；还有部分设置在信息学院下，如Carnegie Mellon, Columbia等。

一般设置在工程学院和信息学院下的项目，对数学背景和计算机背景要求都很高。

当然这些学校的BA更偏向于Data Analytics，相对而言更重视计算机编程能力，毕业生更加受市场青睐。

无论隶属哪个学院，从招生来看大多数更喜欢有数学，计算机和工程专业背景的本科生，以及少数其他专业的，商科背景的也比较少。

不过商学院毕业的BA起薪要更高，年薪中位数超过80000刀，属于不低的薪金待遇。

另外，MIT，弗吉尼亚大学，罗彻斯特大学，维克森林大学，纽约大学，凯斯西储大学，加州戴维斯分校，加州圣地亚哥分校，哥伦比亚大学，康奈尔大学，南加州大学等均设有商业分析项目。

三．商业分析就业去向及工作内容
A.银行
Bank of America(title: Quantitative management associate; VP Quantitative finance - Commercial portfolio Strategies; Assistant VP, Quantitative Finance Analyst)/M&T bank(title: quantitative risk analyst/modeler)
进入银行的毕业生主要承担的是risk management 和 credit card analysis 的工作，会大量用到SAS和SQL等统计软件。

随后的职业发展路径是走risk和银行内控的方向。

B.IT
Amazon( from retail companies Nordstorm)( title: data scientist)/Linkedin (title: data scientist)
在IT公司的数据科学家可以说工作是非常多样化的，这主要取决于IT公司所在市场的类型。

比如PAYPAL的数据科学家可能就类似于银行当中的risk analyst的角色，而amazon的数据科学家则更多的会用到marketing 和retail方面的数据处理，所以如果不能一开始就进入到这些公司之中，制定好职业发展路径，在其他公司积累几年经验之后也会更有机会一些。

C.Consulting
SAS（软件和相关分析咨询服务提供商）(title: Senior associate analytical consultant)/Elder Research（tech consulting company seting foot both in public sector and private sector） (title: Data scientist)/Deloitte title: consultant, advanced analytics & modeling
consulting 分为大数据tech consulting 和传统的management consulting 两种类型，不过即使在两种不同类型的企业之中，BA毕业生所承担的工作也是类似的，在软件和技术咨询公司，BA更接近业务的前端，承担着帮助客户更加熟悉更好地运用自己的软件产品，甚至是衍生的咨询服务工作；而在更接近传统的管理咨询的领域，BA则能够起到团队当中技术和数据分析员的角色，为咨询项目提供更多的材料支持。
