大家好，我叫suenie,this is Suenie,today we are going to learn the very basic part of mandarin—chinese tones.As you all know mandarin is an tone noted language,so what a tone language would sounds like?before getting to know this part let’s listen to a part of music by or by tylor swift（霉霉）…or by (水果姐)…

when I started Chinese language subject in the university,the first class our professor told us that Mandarin is 乐音，which means mandarin is a musical language,so if we had fully pronounced practicing,you will have a very beautiful Chinese speaking.there is no doubts.so no matter how you have learned the Chinese tones before this class is needed to be put very again！so let’s back to our class!
we have 4 different tones plus one neutral tones.first listen to me to pronounce these tones with Chinese vowel”ɑ”:

ok,let’s take a look at the first tone ā
when you pronounce this tone,you need start at the high position at first and then hanging there for a while，don’t need to last higher or lower,just keep it.(这时候用手来再高的位置缓慢划一条横线口中重复一声让学生跟读),if you find it is quite difficult to pronounce,imagin you are with a doctor who checks your throat,when you open it,doctor would lead you to pronounce ā….your jaw down to the lower position that the doctor can see through,so this is the Chinese first tone!
The second tone á.in this tone,you have to start at a lower positon,then go higher,so,for some students,they think this tone is quite weird to pronounce,because,they cannot find this in their own language,however I just find some similar sound in English conversation which sounds like the second tone.
Such as----What?(黑人问号图片);Yes?but?etc…when you quest about something you can’t help yourself rasing your tone…so this is how pronouncing a Chinese second tone feels like.so taking this feeling let’s repeat áagain! Well done.
Very interesting right,so in this music, we heard a lot strang second tone because it is already started at an high position.so in case of it,from now on if you start second tone,put your hand at your chest then voice goes higher slowly.(用手放于胸前，发出二声a的音，同时声音慢慢上扬，如此反复几遍，让学生跟读)
此部分教四声，因为之后的三声会更加容易，教四声的时候，注意手势要从高位滑到底部，并且留出来还有一种情况是接下来学三声用的从中位滑到底部的降音
Next,out of the order,we need to learn the forth tone , à,we also call this falling tone, 教师读四声啊，this tone ,starts at the high position,then go down to the bottom.this sounds like English sentence:No!
Using your finger ,let’s draw this tone together,from high position first! à
Let’s review how the second tone looks like? It is start from the low position right then draw it to the high level!...read after me á.
the Chinese third tone ǎ,this tone is longer than other tones,and we even write the tone mark in 2
parts,it means this starts at the normal position down to lower to the bottom,then up higher,repead after me
if you found it is difficult to pronounce then you can imagine that in a conversation,you confirm what the others opionion,response ”ah há”meanwhile you can dip you head to help the
the last one is neutral tone,which means no tone,it sounds pretty much like the first tone,but shorter, ɑ,read after me.
Ok above all is the Chinese tone.let’s repeat the m all again! 最后要总结其实发音的不同部位，让学生再加深印象。
