Unit teaching material analysis:
This unit is about the theme of food, we will take many kinds of teaching activities like listening, speaking, reading, and writing and so on. Teaching core is to learn some name of food and answer the question about likes and dislikes. Students will learn how to use the sentence pattern: Do you like bananas? Yes, I do. / No, I don’t. I like bananas. I don’t like hamburgers.
Unit overall aim:
Use the strategy of designing task and discussing to guide students how to use the sentence pattern of asking what food does others like and dislike and answering the questions about likes and dislikes.
Teaching aims:
1. Knowledge Objectives:
Key vocabulary: bananas, oranges, pears, tomatoes, hamburgers, strawberries,French fries, salad, ice cream, broccoli.
Target language: Do you like bananas? Yes, I do. / No, I don’t. I like bananas. I don’t like hamburgers.
2. Ability Objectives:
Students are able to know the new words and listen to new words.
Students are able to communicate with others fluently in using
the key words and sentence pattern.
3. Moral Objects
Students will know no matter what food them like or don’t like, and develop the awareness of the healthy diet.
Key point and difficulty:

Ask and answer questions about likes and dislikes

Use the key vocabulary and the target language learned in this class to describe real situations about eating food in one’s own lives.
Teaching Methods:
1. Scene teaching method:
Show some pictures about food and ask student to recognize what is pictures showing
2. Task-based teaching method: Pair work & group work Teaching Procedures:
Step 1 lead-in
Ask students to guess what is the teacher’ s favorite food, and
invite several student to say what is their favorite food so as to introduce the topic of this lesson.
Step 2 Key Vocabulary
1. Showing pictures of foods, by using the questions of “What’s this? ” and “What’re these?” to teach and practice the names of the food: bananas, oranges, pears, tomatoes, hamburgers, strawberries,French fries, salad, ice cream, broccoli.
2. Ask students in groups to read the vocabulary.
3. P ick some pictures up and demand some students to say English names of food.
Step 3 Presentation
Show the pictures of food that teacher like or dislike use the sentence pattern:
T: I like bananas. I don’t like hamburgers. Do you like bananas?
Ss: Yes, I do. /No, I don’t.
T: I don’t like hamburgers. Do you like hamburgers?
Ss: Yes, I do. /No, I don’t.
Then, repeat the dialogue, and ask student individually to answer. Step 4 Pair work (2c)
Students work in pairs. Make their own conversations by using the picture that they draw before the class. One student ask and the other one answer, then change the role. Deal with any problems the students raise while practicing.
