Factories, especially those emoloying toxic chemicals, will definitely destroy the quality of air and water in town. They generate smog and other atmospheric emissions which contribute to the greenhouse effect, ozone depletion and acid rain; they dump industrial waste into rivers which are supposed to be drinking water supply; they accelerate the deforestation which is proven to be responsible for abnormal floods and regional drought. 我们都知道OG(官方指南)对托福写作在“语言 运用”方面的要求是 “appropriate word choices”和“a variety of sentence structures”, 也就是“词汇能恰当传达意思就好,句式多样 就好”。
换句话说,托福写作在词汇和句式上没有任何 “高大上”的要求。君不见,高中词汇量曾输 出多少篇高分作文。 故本文欲单单从句式出发,帮你轻松搞定托福 写作中常用的英语句式。
<2> ED(被动)
动作发出者必须和主句的主语保持一致。比如 说,Compared with me, Jack plays basketball better(和我相比,杰克篮球打得更好一些),句 中“compared”的主语一定和主句的主语“Jack” 保持一致;

此处的“that + 句子”其实就充当了“魂”的宾 语(O.)。 比如说:I believe that Jack plays basketball(我相 信杰克会打篮球)。
二、动词(V.)
动词主要充当“谓”,拿“Jack plays basketball” 来说,要往里加动词就只须在“plays”处并列一个动 词。 比如说,“Jack plays and broadcasts basketball”(杰克 会打篮球,还会直播篮球比赛)。 但是,在句法中,动词的主要表现形式是——“非谓 语”: ING(主动)、 ED(被动)、 To do(不定式)。
独立写作 常用句法

Language Use(语言运用), Organization(组织结构) 和Development(行文发展)是托福写作的“三剑 客”。 然而,Language Use被公认为三者当中最 primary(“首要的”,即最基本却又最重要的)的 一个因素。
比如说,Jack plays basketball。但一篇300字以 上的独立作文绝对不可能由100来句3个单词的 句子构成。 所以,我们要帮“魂”进行“增肥”,也就是 给它加内容。
那到底可以加哪些内容呢? 只须往里加4个词: 名词(N.)、 动词(V.)、 形容词(Adj.)、 副词(Adv.)。
其实,名词还可以是一个句子(即:一个句子充 当主句中的一个名词)。 由于名词主要用作“主”和“宾”,故常见的 名词性句子有:“主语从句”和“宾语从句”。
<1> 主语从句:That + 句子 + V. + O.
此处的“That + 句子”其实就充当了“魂”的主语(S.)。 比如说,That Jack plays basketball remains a secret (杰 克会打篮球这件事情大家都不知道)。 当然,以“That”开头的句子不多见,因为这样易出现 “头重脚轻”的问题, 所以“主语从句”常转化为由形式主语“it”引导的句 型。比如说,“ It remains a secret that Jack plays basketball”。
表目的,动作发出者必须和主句的主语保持一 致。 比如说,To keep fit, Jack always play basketball / Jack always play basketball to keep fit (为了保 持健康,杰克经常打篮球 / 杰克经常打篮球是 为了保持健康), 句中“to keep fit”表目的,且主语一定和主句的 主语“Jack”保持一致。
英语写作中最简单的句式共2种: 一是“主(S.)+谓(V.)+宾(O.)”; 二是“主(S.)+系(V.)+表(P.)”。
前者为根本,在此称之为英语句式之“魂”。 以公式表达的话,“魂”=“主+谓+宾”= N.(名 词) + V.(动词) + N.(名词),最少由3个单词组成。
<1> 限定性定从
作为一个形容词性的句子,它最本质的功能就是修饰 名词,而“魂”里包含“主”和“宾”两个名词,所 以其表达公式有2种:

①修饰主语:S. + that/who + 句子 + V. + O.,此处的 “that/who + 句子”其实就充当了一个形容词来修饰 前面的名词——主语(S.)。比如说,The basketball that is made in American belongs to Jack(那个美国生产的篮 球属于杰克);Jack who is from America has a basketball(来自美国的杰克有一个篮球)
<1> ING(主动)
动作发出者必须和主句的主语保持一致,且逻辑上常 存在因果关系和伴随关系。 比如说,Having no homework, Jack decided to play basketball(由于没有家作,杰克决定去打打篮球), 句中“Having”的主语一定和主句的主语“Jack”保持一 致,且前后存在因果关系;Jack is playing basketball, wearing a T-shirt (杰克正在打篮球,且身上穿的是件T 恤),句中“wearing”的主语一定和主句的主语“Jack” 保持一致,且前后存在伴随关系。

都知道名词是一个词,主要充当“魂”里 的“主”和“宾”。拿Jack plays basketball来说, 要想往里面加名词,就只须在主语“Jack”和宾 语“basketball”处并列一个名词。 比如说,Jack and I play basketball / Jack plays basketball and football。
三、形容词(Adj.)
形容词常用来修饰名词,比如说:Jack bought a quality basketball (杰克买了个高质量的篮球)。 其实,形容词也可以是一个句子(即:一个句子 充当主句中的一个形容词)。 由于形容词主要用作“定语”,故常见的形容 词性句子有:定语从句(限定性 & 非限定性)。
