新课教学Step 1. The definition of the past continuous tense.
What’s the past continuous tense（过去进行时是什么）?
表示表示过去某一时刻或某一段时间正在进行或发生
的动作。

E.g. I was watching TV at that time .
They were playing football at ten yesterday afternoon.
Step 2. The the structure the past continuous tense.
Be(was/were) +V-ing
1. be (were/was)的用法
be (were/was)由主语决定
主语为I , she, he, it时用was
主语为they，we, you 时用were
2.动词现在分词（V-ing）的变化规则
a. 在动词原形后加-ing. play-playing
b. 以不发音字母e 结尾的动词，去e 加-ing。

live-living
c. 以重读闭音节结尾且末尾只有一个辅音字母的动词，双
写该辅音字母后再加-ing(辅音+元音+辅音）。

run-running
d. 少数几个以ie 结尾的动词要变ie 为y, 再加-ing。

die- dying lie-lying tie-tying
Step 3. The sentence patterns of past continuous tense
基本句型结构：
肯定句：I was reading at that time .
否定句：I wasn’t reading at that time .
一般疑问句：were you reading at that time ?
肯定回答：Yes，I was. 同肯同否，谁问谁答，你问我答
