教学过程
Lead-in: Meeting Baymax:
T presents the image of Baymax from the famous movie and introduce today’s topic:Artificial Intelligence
Ss follow the T to know something about Baymax with some pictures and at the mean time learn some new words and phrases.
T introduces the virtual presenter Ananova with the help of Baymax and informs the Ss of the objectives of today’s lesson.
Listening task: Listen to an interview with the virtual presenter Ananova:
Before listening, Ss are required to finish a matching exercise of news words..
Ss listen to the interview part by part, finishing the blank-filling exercise on their work sheets. Firstly, they should listen for the questions asked by the presenter. Next, try to take down all the detailed information.
T guides the Ss to analyze the content of the interview and summarize the four angles from which the presenter interviewed Ananova.
T has a small talk with Baymax, which leads to the next task: learn to clarify in an interview.
Ss turn to the textbook and finish Ex. 3 on P22, the function file of Clarifying and asking questions.
T checks answers with Ss and enable the Ss to pay attention the function of clarifying when interviewing.
Ss are required to analyze a situational dialogue and try to fill in the blanks with expressions of clarifying as many as possible.
Speaking task: Makean interview with Baymax:
T talks with Baymax once again and lead to the speaking task: making an interview.
Grouping: the whole class is divided into 8 groups of 5 to 6 students each. One student plays the presenter and one student serves as the assistant while 4 students play as Baymax and each should answer one question of the presenter from a different angle.
Ss work together as a group and make an interview with the help of Section Ⅱ of their student sheets, on which three tables are provided to help them finish the speaking task. And the criteria table is also provided for the students to make a judgment on the best interview.
Two groups arerandomly chosen to present their interview while the rest of the Ss becomejudges to choose the best one.
Closure:
One student judgeshares his/her judgment and T summarizes what we learn today.
