中秋节资料英文版
The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, is a traditional Chinese festival that takes place on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month. It is a time for family reunion and celebration with mooncakes, lanterns, and various cultural activities.
Legend has it that in ancient times, there were ten suns in the sky, causing a great drought. Hou Yi, a skilled archer, shot down nine suns to save the people. As a reward, he was given an elixir of immortality. However, he did not want to lea ve his wife Chang’e behind, so he hid the elixir at home. One day, a villain named Peng Meng tried to steal the elixir, and to protect it, Chang’e drank it and flew to the moon. Since then, people have worshipped Chang’e during the Mid-Autumn Festival.
During the Mid-Autumn Festival, families gather to admire the full moon, which is a symbol of unity and prosperity. They light lanterns, set off fireworks, and enjoy various cultural performances. Traditional foods such as mooncakes are also an essential part of the festival. These round pastries are filled with different fillings like lotus seed paste, red bean paste, or salted egg yolks. The mooncakes are often given as gifts to friends and family members as a symbol of reunion and good luck.
The Mid-Autumn Festival is not only celebrated in China but also in other East Asian countries such as Vietnam, Korea, and Malaysia, where Chinese communities exist. It is a time for people to reflect on their blessings and express gratitude for family and loved ones.
In recent years, the Mid-Autumn Festival has also gained international recognition and is celebrated in many cities around the world with cultural events, lantern parades, and mooncake tastings. It has become a wonderful occasion for people from different backgrounds to come together and appreciate Chinese culture.。
