The word advertising refers to any kind of public announcement that brings products and services to the attention of people. Throughout history, advertising has been an effective way to
promote (促进) the trading and selling of goods. In the Middle Ages, merchants employed town criers to the public messages aloud to promote their goods. When printing was invented in the fifteenth century, pages of advertisements (ads) could be printed easily and were either hung in public places or put in books.
By the end of the seventeenth century, when newspapers were beginning to be read by more people, printed materials became an important way to promote products and services. The London Gazette was the first newspaper to set aside a place just for advertising. This was so successful that by the end of the century several companies started businesses for the purpose of making newspaper ads for merchants.
Advertising spread quickly throughout the eighteenth century. Ad writers were starting to pay more attention to the design of the ad text. Everything, from clothes to drinks, was promoted with clever methods such as reception of the firm's name or product words organized in eye-catching patterns, the use of pretty pictures and expressions easy to remember.
Near the end of the nineteenth century, companies that were devoted to the production of ads came to be known as "advertising agencies (广告商)." The agencies developed new ways to get people to think of themselves as members of a group. Throughout the twentieth century, advertising agencies promoted consumerism (消费主义) as a way of life. 第一节阅读表达(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
阅读下面短文并回答问题,然后将答案写到答题卡相应的位置上(请注意问题后的词数要求)。

Everyone has periods in his life when everything seems very hard, when there’s nobody to talk to and the mood is just getting worse and worse. There are some things that may help you lift up your mood.
The first thing you should try is socializing and thinking positively. It is very hard, because usually when we feel depressed we lock ourselves at home and try to think about all the bad character issues we have. But if you try to force yourself and call a friend for a cup of coffee, the chances of changing your mood into a better one are very good. _____ Instead, try to think only about the bright side of your life. Don’t forget: We are what we think we are.
You should also try doing something only for yourself, something totally selfish. This could be something you wanted for a long time: maybe a short trip, a coat, a ring or anything that could lift up your mood. This doesn’t have to be extravagant(奢侈的) or costly. The point of all these is being good to yourself.
Giving prese nts to yourself can lift up your mood. What’s more, buying things to others may be a perfect way to feel happy. Think of your friends, families, relatives or even local charities, choose one person and give him a gift that doesn’t have to be something expe nsive or big. It may be just a little toy to your poor neighbor’s child. Making another person feel happy will make you feel good in your heart and mind.
Meeting a positive person should be very useful. Just try to keep your problems off the conversation. The idea here is to get out of your shell and have some interaction. Get involved with someone else and your mind will take a turn as well.
76. What’s the main idea of this passage? (no more than 8 words)
77. Why does the author suggest buying things to others? (no more than 10 words)
78. Fill in the blank in Paragraph 2 with proper words. (no more than 6 words)
79. List three ways that can lift up your mood, according to the text. (no more than 16 words)

作文:
The Mid- Autumn Fetival
The Mid-Autumn Festival falls on the 15th of the eighth month of Our Chinese lunar calendar. As one of the traditional Chinese festivals, it has been enjoying great popularity in our country. Usually, no matter how far away or how busy we are, we will try to come home for the celebration. The moon that night looks the brightest in the whole lunar month. What we love most is the time we enjoy the full moon together. With the beautiful moon up in the sky, we sit together and eat moon cakes and fruit, sharing our stories. In addition to these traditional activities, we have a wider range of choices such as travelling and visiting our relatives or friends.。
