It will also make it possible for them to take their favorite jobs in the future. However, those who think differently believe that the learning environment is more important to one's development and that graduates from leading universities are often more likely to find a better job than those who are not.As far as I am concerned, the best choice is a good major at a good university. If we cannot obtain both, the first thing to consider is a good major, because no matter where we study,we can still achieve a lot in a certain field if we try our best.1.It will also make it possible for them to take their favorite jobs in the future.2....no matter where we study,we can still achieve a lot in a certain field if we try our best.以下句子选自短文中,如果能作以下调整,那么文笔会更加生动,试阅读并比拟。

From there, you might move on to the automakers in Detroit. But I would suggest that the list should also include a less obvious nominee:public education. At its top level, the American system of higher education may be the best in the wo rld. Yet in terms of its core mission—turning teenagers into educated college graduates—much of the system is failing. The United States does a good job enrolling(招生)teenagers in college, but only half of the students who enroll end up with a bachelor's degree. So identifying the causes of the college dropout crisis in the world's largest economy matters enormously, and a new book called “Grossing the Finish Line〞tries to do preci sely that. Its authors are economists Willian Bowen and Michael Mcpherson, and a doctor al candidate Matthew Chingos. The first problem they diagnose is something they call und ue matching. It refers to students who choose not to attend the best college they can get into. They instead go to a less selective one, perhaps one that is closer to home or less e xpensive. About half of the low income students with a grade point average of at least 3.5 in high school and an SAT score of at least 1,200 do not attend the best college they could have. “I was really astonis hed by the degree to which well qualified students from poor families under matched,〞said Mr Bowen. In fact, well off students attend the colleges that do the best job of producing gradu ates. Meanwhile, lower income students—even when they are better qualified—often go to colleges that excel(擅长)in producing dropouts. “It's really a waste,〞Mr Bowen said,“a nd a big problem for the country.〞As the authors point out,the only way to lift the co llege graduation rate significantly is to lift it among poor and working class students. Inst ead,it appears to have fallen. What can be done?Money is clearly part of the answer.36.Which of the following would people first think of as a factor responsible for the American financial crisis according to this passage?A.The government.B.Public education.C.The Detroit automakers.D.The Wall Street firms.37.What is a big problem with American higher education?A.It is hard to enroll enough students into college.B.Many colleges are experiencing low rate of graduation.C.Many college students stay away from classes.D.It is hard for many colleges to get financial aid from the government.38.The title of the book Crossing the Finish Line probably means ________.A.running to the end of the lineB.going to collegeC.finishing college educationD.working hard in college39.Why do some students under match?A.Because they have financial difficulty.B.Because they face ambition crisis.C.Because they lack confidence.D.Because they can't get guidance.40.The passage is mainly about ________.A.problems with secondary American education and possible solutionsB.America's financial crisis, its cause and influenceC.low rate of American college graduation, its cause and its influenceD.relationship between American education and its economyBThere is no doubt that to study abroad gives you an excellent opportunity to learn t hings which are very helpful in your career building. Today,Canada has earned a good n ame in providing quality education and safe healthy environment for its students. That is why more than 130,000 international students enroll every year in famous Canadian univ ersities. It is an ideal education destination and gives students a unique experience of edu cation and its versatile(多样的)arts and culture. Canada spends a lot on education and is r anked the highest in G8 countries. To study in Canada is very cost effective. These universities are affordable compared to other universities in the world such as in the US,New Zealand and UK where cost of education and living is very high. According to a survey in 2006,“Canada offered the l owest tuition fees for foreign students compared to UK and Australia.〞The low rate of crimes and the peaceful safe environment of the country also attract lots of international students to Canadian universities. Canada has 92 universities and 175 community colleges and university degrees have three levels—Bachelor's,master's and Do ctoral.A Bachelor's degree in Canada is for three or four years' full time study depending upon the nature of the program you are doing. On the other hand,a Master's degree con sists of two years of study. For a Doctoral program in Canadian university, you require a minimum of three to four or sometimes five years of research and study. You can also find many diploma and certification(认证)programs in Canadian universi ties where the time is generally one year. Some of the Canadian universities are well rega rded worldwide and the degree and diploma obtained from these Canadian universities are recognized globally and promise bright future. After the completion of studies,a person could also find great job offers in Canada itself. It is also the m ost dreadful. This is because the educational system is based only on marks and is very c ompetitive. In the past, exams were held to help the teacher know how far a student had under stood the subject. Now,they are held to test how far a student can remember the notes. There is no value for the student who has understood the subject. Value is given onl y to the student who is able to reproduce the answer word by word. The present educatio nal system brings a great pressure on the students. The teachers and parents aid in increas ing the pressure. Teachers give students loads of homework simply because writing twice is equal to reading ten times. It is true but how can a child complete the homework of all five subjects in one da y?Parents_want_to_live_their_life_through_their_kids. They send the child to dozen class es just because they were not able to learn dance & music, swimming &karate, but it do esn't mean that the child has to learn all these things in their place. They want their kids to excel (擅长) in everything. They also compare them to other students. The usual dialogue in a house is “Mr X's daughter has scored 98.64% and you have just scored 97.03%!〞They don't realize that by saying such things they discourage the child.Students are also human beings. They also have the same feelings as others. They al so need a break from their work. Too much reading can affect their brain too. When the brain is not able to store all the information fed into it,it stops storing more data. This again leads to poor marks in the exams.46.Which of the following is a problem of the present educational system mentione d in the text?A.It asks students to answer questions orally.B.It values students' correct notes in class.C.It requires students to understand the subjects.D.It pays much attention to students' marks.47.The underlined sentence in the fifth paragraph shows that ________.A.parents want to live with their children foreverB.parents want their children to realize their dreamsC.parents want to live a better life through their childrenD.parents want their children to live a better life48.Some parents compare their children with others, which will ________.A.make their children hate othersB.cause their children work harderC.make their children lose heartD.improve their children's self confidence49.The last paragraph probably suggests that ________.A.different students also have the same feelingsB.a lot of reading leads to poor marks in the examsC.poor exam marks result from too much readingD.much pressure causes low learning efficiency50.By writing the text, the writer tells us that ________.A.homework is a load to studentsB.the life of students is colorfulC.students have too much pressureD.school life is very importantA high school track star in the beach town of Ventura,Woodburn was once sideline d for months with foot injuries.“I started thinking about all the things I got from running—the health benefits, the f riendships, the confidence,〞he says. “And I realized there are children who don't even have shoes.〞Woodburn gathered up his own slightly worn sneakers, then put out a call to teamm ates.
