今年英语考试范围和内容将参考新目标教材（Go for it！7～9年级修订版），考试词汇依据《2015年武汉市初中毕业生英语学业考试词汇表》。
考试难度与去年基本持平，试卷上有个别地方进行了微调，具体调整如下：
1、听力测试部分的第一、第二节题量有调整，考试内容仍然是情景反应和日常对话理解，今年将注重基本听力能力的测试，大对话、短文理解的信息量略有增加，信息处理、理解的难度略有加大。
2、在考试词汇方面，《2015年武汉市初中毕业生英语学业考试词汇表》在2014年版的基础上有所增减，选进了一些使用频率高的常用动词、动词短语、形容、副词作为考试词汇。
3、阅读理解材料的篇幅长度略有增加，文长在300词左右，所选材料会涉及西方习俗、文化以及价值观念等内容。
阅读理解共3篇材料，A篇仍为应用文，B篇和C篇多为记叙文。
4、第Ⅱ卷第五大题“词与短语填空”仍为5个单句，考点以课本内容为主，形式仍采用6选5。
