Eating and Reading

Eating and ReadingAs a person, the most important thing in the world is eating without which we will die. Similarly ,reading is as important as eating for a person for which can rich our minds so that we can be regarded as human beings rather than animals.Eating provides nutrition for us to keep ourselves alive. From eating ,we can get various nutrition to meet our body needs. Eating is a kind of art. People not only eat for hungry ,but also for enjoyment. When we eat something we like, we will feel happy and satisfied. Nowadays, people can eat various food from all over the world and each kind of food has its own way of eating. For example, western food and Chinese food , it’s totally different to eat this two kinds of food whether the environment or the way to eat. So we must know the right way to eat different kinds of food. However, we shouldn’t just eat the food we like for that many other nutrition is in the food maybe we dislike. So , in order to keep the balance of the nutrition in our body ,we should try to eat different kinds of food even something we do not like very much.Reading is just like eating. As a man who is living in such a complex society, reading is very important. Reading is our spiritual food without which we will be foolish. Reading is also akind of art. People like reading for it can make them happy and relax as well as improving the knowledge. The same as eating, we can not just read what we like because there are many knowledge we do not know in those books we may dislike. So we should open to as many different books as possible. Francis Bacon, the most important prose writer of Elizabethan Age, said, “Histories make men wise; poets, witty; the mathematics, subtle; natural philosophy, deep; moral, grave; logic and rhetoric, able to contend.” So, our reading should be multicultural. What’s more, we should be appropriate no matter when we are reading or eating so that we can have time to understand and digest what we learn and what we eat.Eating can keep our body alive while reading can keep our soul alive. Both of them are important for us to live a better life and to be a full man.。

1 Eating and reading

1 Eating and reading

Eating and reading are similar to each other in many ways although their purpose is different. First of all, eating is the most important way by which we obtain various kinds of nutrition. Without eating, we cannot survive. In the same way, reading is one of the most important ways of learning. Without reading our minds will become empty like that of an animal. Secondly,we eat not only because we have to do so, but sometimes because we enjoy doing so. Having satisfied our physical need, eating can become a kind of enjoyment. Very often, we eat some food not because it is nourishing but simply because we like it. This preference for certain food will not affect our health so long as we do not indulge heavily in it. The same is true with reading. Sometimes we take reading as a pastime, and we enjoy it while we relax ourselves. Since recreation is involved we will naturally have a partiality forparticular books rather than for others. It is all right if we read more books on history than books on literature. Thirdly, there are many people who do not eat the food they dislike and consequently suffer from malnutrition. Similarly, if we only read books on one subject and pay no attention to the other, we will face the problem of imbalance. Fourthly,we should not eat too much without digesting and assimilating, nor should we read too much without understanding and remembering. Finally, while we are eating, we should leave out the rotten part of the food which will do harm to our health; while we are reading, we should also reject the poisonous content in a book, if any, for it will harm our mind. In short, eating and reading are much alike in some aspects.Questions:1) Give a proper title to the composition;2) How does the article develop?3) What transition devices are used in it?4) The compositon only involves thesimilarities, is there any difference between the two?In the same way, the same is true with…, similarly, nor, also. Can you think about more expressions commonly used for comparison?too, like, likewise, equally important/significant…, as, etc.。

吃和阅读的相同点英语作文

吃和阅读的相同点英语作文The Common Threads of Eating and Reading. In the tapestry of life, two threads stand out prominently: the thread of eating and the thread of reading. At first glance, these two activities might seem vastly different, one a primal, physical act, the other an intellectual pursuit. However, upon closer examination, one discovers that they share remarkable similarities, underscoring their equal importance in shaping our lives. Both eating and reading are essential for nourishment. Eating provides the physical nourishment that sustains our bodies, fuelling our every move and thought. Just as a hungry body cannot function optimally, a starved mindcannot think clearly. Reading, on the other hand, is the intellectual nourishment that feeds our minds, broadening our horizons and deepening our understanding of the world. It is through reading that we acquire knowledge, wisdom, and inspiration, allowing us to grow and evolve asindividuals. Both activities involve a process of digestion. When we eat, our bodies digest the food, breaking it down into its constituent nutrients that are then absorbed and used to build and repair tissues, providing energy, and maintaining homeostasis. Similarly, when we read, our minds digest the information, breaking it down into understandable concepts and ideas that are then integrated into our existing knowledge base, shaping our thoughts and beliefs. This digestion process is often iterative, requiring us to re-read and re-evaluate as we digest new information and apply it to our lives. Both eating and reading are personal experiences. Each of us has our unique preferences and tastes when it comes to food. Similarly, our reading preferences are as diverse as our fingerprints. We choose what to eat and what to read based on our interests, needs, and desires. These choices reflect our values, beliefs, and personality traits, making both eating and reading deeply personal experiences. Moreover, both eating and reading can be social activities. Mealtimes are often shared with family and friends, providing opportunities for conversation and bonding. Similarly, reading can be a shared experience, whether it is through book clubs, discussions with friends, or simply sharing a good book recommendation. These shared experiences can foster community and understanding among people. Both eating and reading have the potential to be transformative. Through mindful eating, we can become more aware of our bodies and their needs, fostering a deeper connection with ourselves and our environment. Similarly, through intentional reading, we can expand our horizons, challenge our beliefs, and transform our worldviews. Both activities have the power to open our minds and hearts to new possibilities and understandings. In conclusion, while eating and reading may seem like vastly different activities on the surface, they share profound similarities that underline their importance in our lives. They are both essential for nourishment, involvea process of digestion, are deeply personal experiences, and have the potential to be transformative. By understanding these similarities, we can appreciate therole that both eating and reading play in shaping our lives and in fostering growth and development as individuals.。

吃饭和读书对比的英语作文

吃饭和读书对比的英语作文

As a high school student, Ive often found myself caught in the crossfire of two of lifes most cherished activities: eating and reading. Both are essential to my daily routine, yet they offer vastly different experiences. Let me take you on a journey through the contrasting worlds of these two activities.Eating, to me, is a sensory feast. Its about the aroma of freshly baked bread wafting through the kitchen, the vibrant colors of a salad thats as much a work of art as it is a meal, and the satisfying crunch of a perfectly cooked steak. Its an experience that engages all the senses, from the moment I sit down to the last morsel that leaves my plate. The taste buds are the first to dance, followed by the texture that adds another layer of delight. Eating is a celebration of flavors, a momentary escape from the mundane, and a way to connect with family and friends around the dinner table. On the other hand, reading is a journey of the mind. Its the quiet rustle of pages turning, the silent dialogue between the author and the reader, and the images that form in the minds eye as the words come to life. Reading is an exercise in imagination, a way to explore new worlds, and to meet characters who become as real as the people around us. Its about the thrill of discovery when a plot twist catches you off guard, or the satisfaction of a wellcrafted sentence that resonates deeply. The two activities are as different as night and day. Eating is about the present moment, the immediate gratification of taste and texture. Its a social activity, often shared with others, and its a necessity for survival.Reading, in contrast, is a solitary pursuit, a means to escape into the recesses of ones mind. Its about delayed gratification, where the pleasure comes from the slow unraveling of a story or the gradual accumulation of knowledge.Yet, despite their differences, eating and reading share a common thread: they both enrich our lives in unique ways. Eating fuels the body, providing the energy we need to function and grow. Reading, on the other hand, fuels the mind, expanding our horizons and deepening our understanding of the world around us.In my personal experience, Ive found that the two activities complement each other. After a hearty meal, I often find myself with a renewed sense of energy and focus, which makes for an ideal time to dive into a book. Conversely, when Im lost in the pages of a novel, the anticipation of a meal becomes a delightful break, a way to recharge both physically and mentally. Moreover, the two activities can also intersect in interesting ways. Food can be a central theme in literature, as seen in works like To Kill a Mockingbird or Like Water for Chocolate, where meals serve as a backdrop for significant moments in the story. Similarly, reading about different cuisines can inspire me to try new recipes or explore the culinary traditions of other cultures. In conclusion, while eating and reading may seem like polar opposites, they both play a crucial role in shaping our lives. Eating satisfies ourphysical needs, while reading satisfies our intellectual curiosity. Both activities offer their own unique pleasures and contribute to a wellrounded existence. As a high school student, I cherish the moments when I can indulge in a delicious meal and the moments when I can lose myself in the pages of a good book. They are two sides of the same coin, each contributing to the richness of life in their own way.。

Wang Peng followed one of his customers to a new restaurant called Yong Hui’s Slimming Restaurant that promised to help people lose weight by eating less fat. Its thin hostess invited Wang Peng to come in and eat raw vegetables, fruit and water that cost more than the meals in his restaurant. Was his restaurant serving too much fat? Wang Peng decided to do some research. He found that his restaurant did serve too much fat but he also found that Yong Hui’s served too little. Her customers might get thin but they would have no energy. Perhaps with lower prices and a new sign focusing on feeling fit and energetic he could get his customers back. The competition was on. Eating and reading
In many people’s opinions, eating and reading are two different things which have no similarities. However, in fact, they are just the same thing appearing in different areas. Eating and rending meet the primary need of our body and mental. We get the most basic nutrition such as starch, protein, vitamin, sugar, fat and some trace elements without which we cannot maintain our life by eating. What’s the same is that reading makes us have the chance of talking with great people who we cannot have a face-to-face talk and absorbing knowledge to improve our connotation enrich our minds.
On the other hand, from this reaction, we can harvest much unexpected pleasure and achievement. Satisfying our hunger is one of the functions belonging to eating. Eating also means the enjoyment of taste, smell sight and so on. To reading, it’s a unique experience to help us enjoy the world.
As is showed above, we easily arrive at a conclusion: eating and reading are the same thing’s two respects. And they have many other similarities. For example, we should not eat too much without digesting and assimilating, nor should we read too much without understanding and remembering, while we are eating, we should be able to reject the poisonous content in a book, if
any, for it will poison our minds.
Last but not least, we should cultivate the habit of good eating and reading not only to have a healthy body but also to improve our quality.。
