1.The using of comparative adjectives to compare the changes of their hometown and country.
2.The describing of different aspects (geographical features, famous for, food etc.) of their hometown.
Anticipated difficulties:
Students may feel it difficult to:
e and distinguish the different form of comparative adjectives.(__adj__+er, much, as...as)
2.stimulating students to give more ideas by pair or group work and showing an example first.
3.work in a group and work as a team and describe a place in different aspects with target languages.

Warming-up (5 min) Step1. Free talk
Look at some photos. Who are they?
Where are they? How do they feel?
Step2. Let’s chant
1.Students are supposed to read the
sentences emotionally, and use “… the
north/south/east/west of China…” to
describe different locations of different
places in our country.
2. Now, let’s take the plane, and go to the
first stop of China.
This step is to lead
in the topic and
arouse students’
interests. And by
talking about the
interesting places
in China/our
country, the next
part can be
transited naturally.
Meanwhile, since it
appears as a form
of roll film, it can arouse students’ learning interest and attract their attention at once.
Revision of vocabulary& sentences
(15mins) Step3.
First stop: Beijing
1.What do you know about Beijing?
2.What is Beijing famous for? (Brainstorming)
(Students need to think of the famous
places/food…in Beijing, then share their
ideas.)
3.What can visitors do/see/enjoy... in
Beijing?
4. Compare Siheyuan and tall buildings
in Beijing. Siheyuan is much__________.
The buildings are___________than
Siheyuan.
Second stop:_______?---Shenzhen
1.Do you know where is it?Fill in the
blanks and guess where it is.
Third stop: Hainan
1.What do you know about Hainan?
Listen for more information
2.What can we do? Where can we go in

Step 4. Comparison
In this step,
students are going
to brainstorm about
the famous things
in the capital city
and then share
their ideas, they are
also supposed to
compare the old
buildings
(Siheyuan) and tall
buildings in
Beijing.
This step aims to
let the students use
key words/phrase
to fill in the blank
and guess the place
---Shenzhen.
This activity makes
students listen then
read for
information about
Hainan, and they

Students are supposed to discuss first and
then talk about our hometown in the
following aspects.

1.Looking at an old photo album to talk
about the changes in our hometown.
Students are required to use the target
sentence pattern to talk about the great
changes in hometown.

1.May day is coming. A lot of visitors are
coming to China.They want to enjoy their
holiday there and visit some interesting
places in China. They also like to know
the changes in our countries, but they
have no idea where to go. Could you help
them?
2.Group of members will be required to
divide the task and make sure every
member will use the target languages and
structures to describe one place in China.
(the geographical features, changes,
weather and so on)
This activity is
designed to ask
students work in a
group and use what
they have learned
today to make a
complete
introduction of a
place about
hometown or a city
in our country.
Homework Must do:
1.Polish your group work and make it a
perfect introduction of a place in China.

changes in our hometown and in our
country, then share it with classmates. The homework is designed to make students consolidate the knowledge and let them continue to know more about their hometown and country.
