Lucky Clovers
幸运草——
Usually, a clover has three leaves, but a very lucky one has four.
It is said that (据说) one in 10,000 clovers has four leaves.
Lucky clovers can have more than four leaves. Someone even found
a 56-leaf clover!
The leaves of a four-leaf clover stand for faith, hope, love and luck.
Ireland (爱尔兰) is said to have more four-leaf clovers than any other place. That’s why people say “the luck of the Irish (爱尔兰人).〞
In the old days, Irish people believed that a three-leaf clover could keep off (驱除) bad luck.
If you’re lucky to find a four-leaf clover, look around for more! Four-leaf clovers tend to (往往) grow close together (挨着).
If you give a lucky clover to others, your luck will double (翻倍) they say.
