Its plants arecertified as environmentally safe.ChallengesIn the process of meeting both of those objectives, thecompany was recently forced to investigate a new way to filter impurities from soy-based resins used in the manufacturing of certain paints. Three different types of impurities compounded the problem.First, the dominant intruder, consisted of oversized particles that occur naturally in resins. Second, foreign fiber matters, which are finer than resinparticles, were also proving to be troublesome.The third was the buildup of colloidal haze, which again occurs naturally, and canadversely affect the quality of the paint.The existing setup was highly labor intensive requiring the manual dismantling of the equipment for cleaning.Exposure to hazardous gases and high temperatures were also present during cleaning. In addition, maintenance was becoming increasingly more difficult and costly, and plant officials believed that the aging system was occupying too much floor space. Its shabbyappearance due to years of resin spillage was also disconcerting to workers and visitors alike.SolutionWorking with plant officials, Eaton filtration experts based in China and India installed an Eaton DCF-1600 mechanically cleaned filter to remedy the problems associated with the large particles and foreign fibers.With two-thirds of the challenges met, an Eaton LOFDISC™ Module filter was additionally installed to remove the haze impurities and neatly close the loop on the system.The DCF-Series filters are ideal for highly viscous, abrasive or sticky liquids – including paint. DCF filters perform a self-cleaning action by mechanically scraping collected debris from the filter screen with a spring loaded cleaning disc that travels down and up, wiping the media clean of concentrated solids in both strokes. Collected debris is automatically purged from the collection chamber at the bottom of the filter.Based on a remarkably simple concept, the self-cleaning filter consists of a cylindrical stainless steel housing that contains a filter screen. The strap drive connection found on the Advantage series clutch improves the connection to the intermediate plate, eliminating lug failures and open clutch rattle. The alternative to the strap drive is a lug drive, which is the most common design in the market. However, since the lug is not fastened to the housing, it floats and vibrates when the clutch is open. This vibration of the intermediate plate lug can result in fatigue, and over time this fatigue can lead to failure. The straps in the Advantage clutch design affix the intermediate plate to the housing so it does notvibrate, eliminating lug rattle and improving longevity.*USA and Canada only. The secondary lock has a safety clip with a hole designed to fit an off-the-shelf padlock without an adaptor. This coupler can be used with any 2 5/16" ball having a capacity rating equal to or higher than the coupler.Weld LocationsWeld the coupler to the front of the trailer tongue. Care must be taken to get good penetration without undercutting the coupler or the tongue. See the illustration below for weld locations.Auto Lock FunctionSecondary LockPrimary LockSafety ClipUnlocked PositionThe illustration shown is in the unlocked position. When the Primary Lock shows no green, the coupler is open.Hitching Up1. Before hitching up, inspect for proper operation and for worn, damaged, or missing parts.2. Unlock the coupler by removing the Safety Clip and insuring that the Primary Lock shows no green, indicating the coupler is open.3. Back the vehicle up to the trailer until 2 5/16" of the ball is located under the coupler (shown above).4. As you lower the coupler onto the ball, the Primary Lock andSecondary Lock will end up in the locked position, as shown.Green means LOCKEDLocked PositionThe illustration shown to the right is in the locked position,with the Safety Clip installed. Be sure the lock assembly is in theunlock position before hook-up.Un-Hitching1. Unlock by removing the Safety Clip. Top Hole Secondary Lock2. Flip the Secondary Lock forward until it is pointing up.Hold this while raising the jack.3. If both hands are needed, the Secondary Lock can beheld by inserting the Safety Clip in the Top Hole whileraising the jack.4. Jack up the coupler until it clears the hitch ball and pull out the Safety Clip. The coupler is now back to the unlock position, as shown in the first illustration.Maintain the coupler hitch by adopting a program of conscientious repair and maintenance in accordance with the following recommended procedures. It is recommended that the general condition of any tool be examined before it is used. Keep your tool in good repair. Keep handles dry, clean, and free from oil and grease.
