All rights reserved.OverviewMoxa’s USB-to-serial product provides a wide range of easy-to-use solutions for adding Windows COM ports, macOS, and Linux tty ports through the USB port of a computer.The UPort 1200/1400/1600 series are the following models:•UPort 1250: 2-port RS-232/422/485 USB-to-serial converter •UPort 1250I: 2-port RS-232/422/485 USB-to-serial converter w/ isolation protection•UPort 1410: 4-port RS-232 USB-to-serial converter•UPort 1450: 4-port RS-232/422/485 USB-to-serial converter •UPort 1450I: 4-port RS-232/422/485 USB-to-serial converter w/ isolation protection•UPort 1610-8: 8-port RS-232 USB-to-serial converter•UPort 1650-8: 8-port RS-232/422/485 USB-to-serial converter •UPort 1610-16: 16-port RS-232 USB-to-serial converter•UPort 1650-16: 16-port RS-232/422/485 USB-to-serial converter Before connecting UPort USB-to-serial converters to your computer’s USB port, we recommend installing the UPort driver first. To do this, follow the installation procedure described in the “Installing the UPort 1200/1400/1600 Driver” section below. The installation procedure was done on a PC running a Windows platform. UPort converters can be connected to any upstream type A USB port that is on the PC host or on an upstream hub. UPort converters are hot pluggable, and therefore there is no need to power down your computer prior to installation. After installing the driver, connect the UPort to an upstream host or hub. The Found New Hardware wizard will locate the appropriate drivers automatically. Once the drivers are found, various windows will pop up as the UPort’s serial port is being installed. When the Found New Hardware Wizard finishes installing the UPort, use the operating system’s Device Manager to check and/or modify the port settings. First, use two screws per bracket to attach the brackets at the rear of the UPort model. Click Next to startinstalling the driver.4.Read and accept the agreement. Click Next to set the indicatedfolder.5.Set Start Menu Folder location6.Click Install to proceed with the installation.7.The installation will take a few minutes to complete.8.After the driver has been installed successfully, you can click Scanto review the installation results if the UPort is connected to your computer.9.Check Launch Windows Driver Manager after finish toconfigure the UPort after quitting the driver installer.Installing the macOS DriverFor macOS 10.12 and later, follow the steps below to install the driver:1.Enter recovery mode.2.Disable System Integrity Protection (SIP) by typing 'csrutil disable'in the terminal.3.Return to normal mode.unch the UPort driver installer and finish the installationprocedure.5.Enter recovery mode again.6.Enable System Integrity Protection (SIP) by typing 'csrutil enable'in the terminal.7.Return to normal mode.For detailed instructions, please refer to the UPort 1200/1400/1600 User’s Manual on the product webpage or the ‘readme.txt’ in the driver installation package.Installing the Linux Driver Linux KernelExecute the following commands from the Linux prompt:# CD /moxa# tar xvfz driv_linux_uport_[VERSION]_[BUILD].tgz Find "Makefile" in /moxa/mxuport, then run# make install# modprobe mxuportFor further information, please refer to readme.txt that comes with the driver.Serial Port Pin AssignmentsThe serial ports on the UPort 1200/1400/1600 have DB9 male connectors. All rights reserved.OverviewUPort is the brand name of Moxa’s USB-to-serial product line, which provides a wide range of products and solutions to extend Windows COM ports using the PC’s USB port. Important features of UPort products include support for Hi-Speed (480 Mbps) USB 2.0, Moxa CPU, Moxa UART, and the ability to assign COM port numbers. These features make Moxa’s UPort products easy to use and maintain.The UPort 2000 Series of USB-to-Serial Converter includes the following models:•UPort 2210 2-port RS-232 USB-to-Serial Converter•UPort 2410 4-port RS-232 USB-to-Serial ConverterBefore connecting the UPort USB-to-Serial Converters to your computer’s USB port, we recommend installing the UPort driver first. To do this, follow the installation procedure described in Section 3.The installation procedure described in Section 3 was done on a PC running Windows XP system. UPort converters can be connected to any upstream type A USB port that is on the PC host or on an upstream hub. UPort converters are hot pluggable, and therefore there is no need to power down your computer prior to installation.After installing the driver, connect the UPort to an upstream host or hub. The Found New Hardware wizard will locate the appropriate drivers automatically. Once the drivers are found, various windows will pop up as the UPort’s serial port is being installed.When the Found New Hardware wizard finishes installing the UPort, use the operating system’s Device Manager to check and/or modify the port settings. The new COM port will be listed under Ports (COM & LPT). Package ChecklistBefore installing your UPort, verify that the package contains the following items:•UPort 2210 or 2410 USB-to-serial converter• 1 USB cable•UPort 2000 series Quick Installation GuideNotify your sales representative if any of the above items are missing or damaged.Installing the UPort 2000 Series Windows Driver 1.Run the Setup program which you may find on Moxa’s supportwebsite /support/, under the Product page.Click Next to start installing the driver.2.Click Next to install the driver in the indicated folder.3.Click Install to proceed with the installation.Installing the UPort 2000 Series Hardware1.Connect the UPort to the PC using the USB cable.2.After powering on your PC, Windows will automatically detect theUPort.3.Case 1: The UPort Driver is CertifiedIf the UPort driver that you installed has been certified by Microsoft, the UPort and the UPort’s serial ports will be installed automatically when you plug the UPort into your computer’s USB port.Case 2: The UPort Driver is NOT CertifiedIf the UPort driver that you installed has not been certified byMicrosoft, then plugging the driver into your computer’s USB port will activate the UPort installation program. The first part of theinstallation procedure installs the software for the UPort itself (the second part of the procedure installs the serial ports).Click Next to start the installation.4.Select Install the software automatically (Recommended).5. The next window that opens cautions you that although thissoftware has not passed Windows logo testing, this driver hasalready been tested and shown that it can support Windows OS. RS232接口转USB接口的通信方法USB作为一种新的PC机互连协议，使外设到计算机的连接更加高效、便利。
这种接口适合于多种设备，不仅具有快速、即插即用、支持热插拔的特点，还能同时连接多达127个设备，解决了如资源冲突、中断请求（IRQs）和直接数据通道（DMAs）等问题。
因此,越来越多的开发者欲在自己的产品中使用这种标准接口。
而RS232是单个设备接入计算机时，常采用的一种接入方式，其硬件实现简单，因此在传统的设备中有很多采用了这种通信方式。
一般的IC卡门禁考勤系统也使用RS232接口与PC机通信。
如果将USB技术应用于IC卡门禁考勤系统与PC机之间的数据通信，这样，不仅能使IC卡门禁考勤设备具备USB通信的诸多优点，而且对PC机而言还可以节余1个RS232串口为其它通信所用。
1 USB系统概述USB规范描述了总线特性、协议定义、编程接口以及其它设计和构建系统时所要求的特性。
USB是一种主从总线，工作时USB主机处于主模式，设备处于从模式。
USB系统所需要的唯一的系统资源是，USB系统软件所使用的内存空间、USB主控制器所使用的内存地址空间（I/O地址空间）和中断请求（IRQ）线。
USB设备可以是功能性的，如显示器、鼠标或者集线器之类。
它们可以作低速或者高速设备实现。
低速设备最大速率限制在1.5 Mb/s，每一个设备有一些专有寄存器，也就是端点（endpoint）。
在进行数据交换时，可以通过设备驱动间接访问它。
每一个端点支持几种特殊的传输类型，并且有一个唯一的地址和传输方向。
不同的是端点0仅用作控制传输，并且其传输可以是双向的。
系统上电后，USB主机负责检测设备的连接与拆除、初始化设备的列举过程，并根据设备描述表安装设备驱动后自动重新配置系统，收集每个设备的状态信息。
设备描述表标识了设备的属性、特征并描述了设备的通信要求。
USB主机根据这些信息配置设备、查找驱动，并且与设备通信。
典型的USB数据传输是由设备驱动开始的，当它需要与设备通信时，设备驱动提供内存缓冲区，用来存放设备收到或者即将发送的数据。

MOXA串口服务器设置步骤
MOXA串口服务器的Real COM模式设置只能通过MOXA的专用软件来设置，它是在操作系统上虚拟一个串口，在硬件管理里是无法找到的，下面是基本设置，前期设置跟TCP Serverm模式设置是一样的，就是最后一步操作模式选择Real COM模式，设备一般默认是Real COM模式，所以一般不设也没关系的。设置完成后还需要虚拟串口。
点击进入Serial Parameters进入下面界面，设置串口波特率，这个波特率要跟你的上位机软件设置成一样。
点击OK进入下面界面
点住主对话框里的NPort 5110,鼠标右击选择Enable(激活)，在选择上面对话框的Apply保存，设置完毕。

串口服务器设置
MOXA的串口服务器设置可以通过网络或MOXA提供的专用设置软件：NPort Administrator来设置，所有设备的默认IP地址是：192.168.127.254。我们的设备的操作模式可以提供Real COM,TCP Server,TCP Client,UDP等操作模式，本公司的上位机软件主要支持TCP Server和Real COM模式，下面是设备如何设置这两种模式的方式。

三、驱动程序安装过程
3.1将转换器连接到电脑USB接口，提示找到新硬件，并弹出驱动安装对话框。
点击从列表安装，下一步。
3.2运行到下图，点击浏览按钮，找到驱动程序所在目录。
3.3找到驱动所在目录后，点击确定，选择驱动程序。
3.4点击下一步直到安装完成。
3.5安装完成后，会弹出另外一个驱动向导，直接点击下一步，会自动安装另外的驱动。
3.6驱动全部安装完成后，在任务管理器下会看到已经安装的USB设备。
（下图中COM4，也有可能是其他COM口，视个人电脑情况而定。
）
