三明治(sandwich)是一种典型的西方食品(western food),关于三明治的来历,还有一个有趣的故事呢。 • “Sandwich”本来是英国东南部一个不出名的小镇,镇上 有一位伯爵名叫约翰· 蒙塔古(John Montagu),他是个 酷爱玩纸牌的人,他整天沉溺于纸牌游戏,已经到了废寝 忘食的地步。仆人很难侍候他的饮食,便将一些蔬菜、鸡 蛋和腊肠夹在两片面包之间,让他边玩纸牌边吃东西。 • 没想到约翰见了这种食物大喜,并随口就把它称作 “sandwich”,以后饿了就喊“Sandwich!”其他赌徒 争相效仿,玩牌时都吃“sandwich”。不久, “sandwich”就在英伦三岛流行起来,并传到了欧洲大陆, 后来又传到了美国。 • 如今的三明治已不再像当初那样只是牌桌上的快捷食品, 它已经成为西方饮食中必不可少的组成部分。制作简易、 健康营养的三明治往往是西方人午餐的首选。
