Lesson Plan Title: Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
Target Group: Kindergarten (4-5 years old)
Goal: To introduce basic vocabulary and phrases related to the story of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and enhance listening and speaking skills.
Objectives: By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
- Understand and produce basic vocabulary related to the story of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, such as rabbit, tea party, queen, etc.
- Use simple sentences and phrases to describe the characters and events in the story.
- Participate in a dramatic retelling of the story, using simple props and costumes.
Materials:
- Picture cards of characters and objects from the story (rabbit, tea set, cards, etc.)
- Alice in Wonderland story book
- Props and costumes for the role play (rabbit ears, crown, etc.)
- Whiteboard and marker
- CD player and audio CD of the story
Procedure:
1. Warm-up (10 minutes)
- Greet the students and introduce the topic of the lesson: Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
- Show the picture cards of the characters and objects from the story and elicit what the students know about them.
- Play a song or video clip related to the story and have the students clap along or dance.
2. Vocabulary and Story Introduction (20 minutes)
- Display the picture cards on the board and introduce the characters and objects in the story.
- Read aloud a simplified version of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and show pictures from the book to engage the students.
- Use the whiteboard to write the key vocabulary words and phrases from the story and practice each one with the students, encouraging them to repeat after you.
3. Role Play and Story Retelling (30 minutes)
- Divide the students into small groups and assign roles from the story (Alice, White Rabbit, Queen of Hearts, etc.).
- Distribute the props and costumes for the role play and help the students get dressed up.
- Play the audio CD of the story and have the students act out the scenes, following along with the story.
- Use the picture cards to prompt the students to describe what is happening in the story, and encourage them to use sentences and phrases they have learned.
- Monitor the groups as they act out the story and give positive feedback and corrections as needed.
4. Wrap-up (10 minutes)
- Have the students take off their costumes and gather back in a circle.
- Review the key vocabulary and phrases from the story and have the students repeat them once more.
