少沉迷网络多做户外运动英语作文Spending Too Much Time Online
Hi there! My name is Tommy and I'm 10 years old. I love playing video games, watching YouTube videos, and browsing social media sites. The internet is awesome and there's so much cool stuff to do online. But lately, I've been realizing that I spend wayyyy too much time in front of a screen. My parents are always nagging me to get off my iPad and go play outside. At first I thought they were just being annoying parents, but now I get why they want me to be more active and spend less time staring at a screen all day.
I have some friends who are pretty much attached to their phones and game consoles 24/7. They'll sit for hours watching streamers play video games or scrolling through TikTok videos. Sure, that can be fun for a little while, but isn't that just a huge waste of time? There's so much more to do than veg out in front of a screen all day long!
The Importance of Being Active
My gym teacher is always reminding us how important it is to exercise and stay physically active. He says it's really bad for kids to spend too many hours sitting still and staring at a
glowing screen. Doctors have done lots of studies showing that too much screen time can lead to obesity, poor sleep, behavioral issues, and other health problems in kids. Yikes!
Instead of zoning out online for hours every day, we should be running around, playing sports, and getting our hearts pumping. All that physical activity is awesome for building stronger muscles and bones, improving coordination and balance, and helping us sleep better at night. Kids who exercise a lot tend to feel happier too since it's a natural way to relieve stress and get rid of pent-up energy.
There are just so many benefits to being active and getting off the couch or away from the computer. My parents didn't even let me have any video games or tablets until I was 8 years old. At first I was really mad about missing out on all that screen time. But looking back, I'm glad I spent those early years just playing outside, using my imagination, and running around without being glued to a screen. I was way more active back then!
Discovering the Great Outdoors
Now that the weather is warming up again, it's the perfect time to get outside and rediscover the great outdoors. There's a huge park near my house with awesome playgrounds, hiking
trails, a creek to explore, and big grassy fields where my friends and I can run around or play soccer and frisbee. My friend Jack's backyard also has a treehouse that's really cool to hang out in.
My brother and I have been riding our bikes a bunch too now that it's sunny out. We'll cruise around the neighborhood, race each other, and pretend we're in the Tour de France (that's a famous bicycle race in France). Sometimes we also go on family bike rides on the trails through the woods. It's so peaceful being out in nature away from all the noise and distractions. I'll see deer, rabbits, squirrels, cool birds, and other wildlife. Those trails get my legs tired but it feels great to be active and breathe in that fresh air.
There are tons of other outdoor activities I love too. Skateboarding is really fun for improving my balance and coordination. I also recently started taking tennis lessons which get my heart pumping. My parents try to take me to the beach as much as they can in the summer since it's a blast to swim in the ocean, build sandcastles, and play beach sports like volleyball. Maybe I'll even learn to surf one day!
During the colder months when it's harder to play outside, my family and I try to stay active by going ice skating, sledding, building snowmen and having epic snowball fights. We've also
gone on winter hikes when there's no snow on the ground. They say there's no bad weather, just bad clothing – so as long as we bundle up, we can still have fun outdoors even when it's chilly.
Getting Off Screens and Using Our Imaginations
One of the best things about playing outside away from TVs, video games, and other screens is that it lets me and my friends use our creativity and imaginations way more. When we're just hanging out in the backyard, we'll come up with fun games and adventures to go on using basic toys and sports equipment. Simple stuff like sticks can become swords when we're pretending to be knights or explorers. An old cardboard box feels like a rocket ship blasting off into outer space. And you don't need any special art supplies to create masterpieces when you can draw pictures and write stories with just a stick in the dirt!
Using our imaginations like that is so much more fun that being told exactly what to do in a video game or just passively watching some YouTube video. Sure, tablets and phones can be entertaining. But there's nothing as magical as turning the ordinary into the extraordinary just by using our minds and creativity. Best of all, it's totally free!
My friends and I also just genuinely act kinder to each other and seem happier in general when we're out being active together instead of staring at screens alone. We focus on the fun we're having instead of dumb online drama. We bond and build closer friendships. It's way more fulfilling.
Finding a Healthy Balance
Now don't get me wrong, I still enjoy using technology and being online sometimes. My parents realize that too and let me have a healthy amount of screen time each day. I get to play video games or watch shows I like for an hour or so after finishing my homework. And of course I need a computer or tablet for lots of schoolwork these days too. Technology can definitely be educational and mind-expanding when it's used in moderation.
But I've learned that there needs to be a much better balance. Too many kids my age are overdoing it big time. We're spending way more time consuming digital media than actually exploring the real world. And we're missing out on all the amazing benefits of physical activity and using our creativity. That's why I'm making an effort to spend way less time zoning out in front a screen and way more time being active and getting
