(教材P11)Now that Helen understood the key to language,she was very eager to learn more and use it as much as she could.
既然海伦理解了语言之谜,她非常渴望学习更多的词语并且尽可能多地使用它们。
now that意为“既然,由于”,口语中可省去that,相当于since,用来引导原因状语从句,引出一个事实,主句表示说话者的一个建议或想法。
①We needn't have bought so much food now that Suzie won't be with us for dinner.既然苏西不与我们一起吃饭,我们本来不必买这么多食物的。
②Now that he'd come to the door,he thought he might as well go in with the others to have a look.

(3)在unless引导的条件状语从句中,主语和部分谓语有时可以省略。
