CUPRO-ACETIC SALT SPRAY TESTCASS-TESTRENAULT D23 1001 / - - B This document is to be considered as a whole, the parts of which shall not be separated.© RENAULT 2008.No duplication permitted without the consent of the issuing department. No circulation permitted without the consent of RENAULT.FIRST ISSUEApril 1980 - - -REVISIONJune 2003 - - A Adding the prefix D23.Complete rewriting. This issue originates from Draft NC 2002 0842 / - - -.February 2008 - - B Upgrading of “Daily monitoring report”This issue originates from Draft NC 2008 0175 / - - -.FOREWORDThere is rarely a direct relation between the resistance to the effect of salt spray and the resistance to corrosion in other environments, since the different factors that influence the development of corrosion such as the formation of protective films vary considerably according to the conditions encountered. The test results should therefore not be considered as a direct indication of the corrosion resistance of coatings in all environments where such coatings may be used. Nor should the resistance of the various coatings during the test be considered as a direct indication of their relative resistance to corrosion in their operating condition. The test described provides a method for verifying the quality of materials and coatings with respect to established specifications.1. SCOPE AND FIELD OF APPLICATIONThis test method specifies the apparatus, the reagent and the operating procedure for the copper-acetic salt spray test in order to evaluate the quality of coatings or products deposited in accordance with the specifications relative to coatings or products. The test has been developed in order to evaluate the quality of decorative copper + nickel + chromium or nickel + chromium coatings (irrespective of the specific characteristics of the layers); it is also appropriate for testing aluminium anodic oxide layers. It shall only be performed on these coatings, unless otherwise specified. This test is not appropriate for comparing copper + nickel + chromium coatings with nickel + chromium coatings since the accelerating effect of copper corrosion products emitted by copper + nickel + chromium coatings is masked by the effect of copper ions contained in the test solution. This method does not stipulate any rule with respect to the specimen, the exposure periods for a given product and the manner in which the results are interpreted. These details are provided in the corresponding specifications of the coatings or products.2. EQUIPMENTThe material or coating of all parts that come into contact with the spray or test solution must be resistant to the corrosion of the sprayed solution and must not have any effect on the level of aggression of such solution. The test apparatus consists of the following items:2.1. SPRAYING CHAMBERThe spraying chamber must have a minimum capacity of 0.4 m3. For large-volume chambers, the spray must be distributed in a uniform manner, whether the chamber is empty or loaded. The upper part of the chamber shall be designed such that the accumulated drops of the solution running along the surface do not flow onto the tested parts. The walls and cover shall be insulated to ensure that the temperature and size of the droplets of spray remain consistent throughout the whole volume of the chamber. The dimensions and shape of the spraying chamber shall be such that the quantity of solution amassed in each receptacle falls within the limits of 1 ml/h to 2 ml/h, for a horizontal recovery area of around 80 cm2 (78.5 cm2, or 10 cm in diameter). The receptacles used for the measurement shall never be installed beneath the tested parts. The condensed solution is drained through the bottom of the chamber.2.2. HEATING AND TEMPERATURE REGULATION DEVICEAn appropriate device is used to maintain the test chamber and its content at a temperature of 50 °C ±2 °C and to minimize condensation phenomena on the walls of the chamber. The measurement should be taken at a minimum distance of 100 mm from the walls. The temperature shall be checked at least once every working day and continuous monitoring is recommended.2.3. SPRAYING DEVICEThe salt solution supply device consists of a clean air feeding system, under controlled pressure and humidity, of a reservoir containing the solution to be sprayed and of one or several spraying nozzles. The compressed air shall be filtered in such way that it is not contamination (oil, dust), the maximum authorized is 0.2 mg/m3 for a size < 5 µm. The pressure shall be between0.8 bar and 1.6 bar, depending on the manufacturer's recommendations. A high pressure facilitates distribution in the test chamberThe compressed air must be saturated in water to prevent a rise in the density of chlorine in the sprayed solution at the moment of activation. The air is humidified before entering into the sprayer by passing a saturator enclosing the heated water at a temperature higher than that of the chamber (60 °C to 62 °C). The equipment shall ensure air saturation. The water column shall be filled and held at a constant height with demineralised water (conductivity < 20 µS/cm). The saturator shall be equipped with a thermometer for measuring the water temperature and with a discharge point for taking water conductivity samples. The appropriate temperature for the air emitted by the saturator depends on the pressure used and on the spraying nozzle. The sprayers must be manufactured from material inert with respect to the salt solution. Their configuration shall be adapted to that of the chamber; the design of the assembly must ensure a uniform distribution of the spray at all points within the effective volume of the chamber. The term effective volume refers to the area in which the quantity of solution collected and the level of aggression are in conformity, i.e. within the limits stipulated in paragraph 3.1. If the chamber is well designed, the total volume is the effective volume. On chamber models equipped with an internal reservoir of salt solution, the level of the solution in this reservoir (placed inside the spraying chamber) shall be maintained constant to ensure a regular supply of spray throughout the whole test.2.4. RECEPTACLESThe use of receptacles is minimized during annual verification. As receptacle devices, use funnels of 10 cm diameter, in smooth glass, (opening surface equal to around 80 cm2) placed on graduated test tubes. The constituent materials of the receptacle shall be made from chemically inert material.Depending on the test, there shall be at least 1 receptacle for 300 litres of chamber.3. SALT SOLUTION3.1. PREPARATIONWater conductivity should be less than or equal to 20 µS/cm at 20 °C ± 2 °CDissolve into distilled or demineralised water, the necessary quantity of sodium chloride to obtain a concentration of 50 g/l ± 5 g/l.Sodium chloride (99.8% pure). The sodium chloride shall not contain, in the anhydrous state, more than 0.2 % of impurities in total or more than 0.1 % of sodium iodide and shall be free of copper and nickel (less than 10 mg/kg for each of the two elements). The density of salt solution, measured at 23 °C ± 2 °C, must be between 1.025 and 1.040.A sufficient quantity of hydrated copper chloride (II) (CuCl2.2H20) should be dissolved in the saltsolution above to obtain a concentration of 0.26 ± 0.02 g/l (equal to 0.205 ± 0.015 g/l of CuCl2).A sufficient volume of crystallisable acetic acid must be added to the salt solution to obtain a pH of thesolution between 3.1 and 3.3. No pH correction is permitted.3.2. pH MEASUREMENTThe pH is measured at 23 °C ± 2 °C using a pH-metre equipped with an electrode of high alkalinity. The electrode must not touch the bottom of the beaker. The reading is performed after 2 min of agitation.3.3. FILTRATIONThe solution must be clear (observe with naked eye); if necessary, filter it before placing the apparatus in the reservoir using a 500 µm filter.4. PREPARING THE SPECIMENS AND PARTS4.1. The number, type, shape and dimensions of the specimens and parts to be tested shall bechosen in accordance with the rules of the specification of the material or product to betested. If no such specification exists, they shall be the subject of an agreement between theparties concerned.4.2. The specimens and polluted parts (grease, etc.) must be carefully cleaned before the test. Themethod adopted depends on the type of material, the surface and products havingcontaminated the surface and must not involve the use of abrasives or solvents liable to etchthe surface of the part.Check that the specimens and parts do not sustain any more contamination after cleaning by neglectful handling.4.3. If the specimens and parts to be tested are cut from bigger coated parts, the cutting shall bemade in such a way that the coating adjacent to it is not damaged. Unless otherwisespecified, the edges of the cutting must be protected in an adequate manner by anappropriate coating, immune to the test conditions, such as an adhesive band.5. CONFIGURATION OF SPECIMENS AND PARTS TO BE TESTED5.1. The specimens and parts must be placed in the chamber in such a way that they are notlocated in the direct path of the spray.5.2. The angle at which the surface is exposed in the chamber is very important. T he specimen orpart to be tested must be placed in the spraying chamber with the surface to becharacterized facing upwards, forming an angle of 20° ± 5° or vehicle position. In the case ofan irregularly shaped part, insofar as is possible make allowance for this recommendationand limit the rating to the correctly oriented surface.5.3. The specimens and parts to be tested must be arranged in such a way that they do not comeinto contact with the chamber. The test surfaces to be characterized must be exposed tothe freely flowing spray. The parts may be placed at different levels in the spraying chamberprovided that the spray does not flow from the parts or supports situated at the higherexposure levels.During the daily inspection, it is recommended to switch around the specimens and parts.5.4. The materials of the supports used to suspend the specimens and parts must be inert withrespect to the salt solution and the parts to be tested. The specimens and parts shall bemaintained fixed throughout the whole duration of the test. In the specific case of fasteningitems, it is recommended to immobilize the parts by fastening them onto matching supportplates.6. PROCEDURAL CONDITIONS6.1. The temperature inside the test chamber must be maintained at 50 °C ± 2 °C at all pointsmeasured at more than 10 cm from the wall.6.2. The pressure and spray must be maintained constant in the chamber for the entire duration ofthe test.6.3. The average rate at which the solution is retrieved by the receptacle shall be measured eachworking day. This must be from 1 ml/h to 2 ml/h for a horizontal area of around 80 cm2. Itis recommended to use at least one receptacle placed at mid-distance between the sprayerand the most distant wall of the chamber.6.4. The sprayed test solution shall not be reused.6.5. The test conditions shall be recorded in the DAILY MONITORING SHEET (example inannex 1).7. TEST DURATION7.1. The test duration shall be set in accordance with the rules of the specification of the material orthe tested product. In the absence of such a specification, it shall be the subject of anagreement between the parties concerned. The recommended exposure times are 2 hours - 6 hours - 16 hours - 24 hours - 48 hours - 96 hours - 240 hours.7.2. Product inspection: The end of test depends on the expiry of a determined period, a daily visualinspection of the parts subjected to the test can be carried out. The orientation of parts mustnot be altered and the total duration of the opening of the test chamber must not exceed anhour a day. The total time of the opening of the chamber is not deducted from the exposureduration of parts in the chamber.8. TREATMENT OF SPECIMENS AND PARTS AFTER TESTAt the end of the test, remove the specimens and parts from the chamber and carefully remove the residue of the sprayed solution deposited on the surface. For this purpose, proceed by rinsing or immersing the parts in running water at a temperature not exceeding 37 °C, then dry in open air.9. STATEMENT OF RESULTSThe test results may be evaluated according to a wide range of different criteria depending on the specific requirements indicated in the specifications of the material or product tested:The surface of the specimen to be tested shall be divided into a square of 1cm2. The percentage of corrosion is defined by counting the number of squares containing at least 1 corrosion spot withrespect to the total number of squares. In all cases, the corrosion rate will be indicated in % (see appendix 2).10. T RAININGThe chamber operators shall have been given a training course, in particular, on the various standards, the operating principle of the chamber, preparation of the salt solution, pH measurement of the salt solution, maintenance and verification of the chamber, the method for evaluating the result and the drafting of test reports.11. T EST REPORTIn addition to the results obtained (paragraph 9.1. and 9.2.), the test report must indicate:-The description of the material or parts to be tested,-Reference of the reference standards (material specification),-Indication of the requirements of the products tested,-The number of specimens and parts subjected to the test,-The last date of verification,-The duration of the test,-The type of rating according to paragraph 9.1.-Photographs of the parts to be tested, if any.-Operating details not provided for in the method as well as possible incidents that could have an impact on the results.DAILY MONITORING REPORTYear: Months: Operator:Pressure regulationvalue: Flow rate regulationvalue:Test chamberNo. Initial salt solution:Date Pressure of thechamber pH3.1 to 3.3Density1.025 to 1.040Temperature48 to 52°CCondensate volume1 to2 ml/hRemarks12345678910111213141516171819202122232425262728293031NON-TREATED AREA PLAN/EXAMPLE OF RATING MASKFOR 90 X 190 PLATEPlate 190 mm X 90 mmSurface of one square section = 1 cm2% corroded = n square sections X 0.78Total surface exposed = 128 cm2。

For each question, decide on the basis of the passage which one of the choices best answer the question. The Second World War was a watershed event for all Americans. It brought the Great Depression to an end and marked the beginning of significant social and political changes for women and racial minorities. Chinese American women played an important role in these long-term changes.Encouraged by motives ranging from Chinese nationalism to American patriotism, Chinese American women initiated an outpouring of highly organized activities in such areas as fund-raising, propaganda, civil defense, and Red Cross work. While some women in San Francisco’s Chinatown joined in the armed services, many others went to work in businesses outside their neighborhood and in defense industries for the first time.1.The passage is mainly about(A)the contributions of Chinatown to the war effort(B)different jobs held by women during the Second World War(C)how the Second World War end the Great Depression(D)how the second World War affect Chinese American women(E)how the feminism influence Chinese American women2.The author’s attitude toward Chinese American women can be best described as(A)confused(B)envious(C)sarcastic(D)sympathetic(E)appreciative3.It is most likely that Chinese American women set going well-organized activities during theSecond World because(A)they were concerned about their own property(B)they wanted to take care of their family(C)they were forced by the American government(D)they were eager to devote themselves to a country(E)they have to fight against the Great Depression4.According to the passage, all of the following is mentioned to be possible jobs taken byChinese American women during the Second World War EXCEPT(A)raising money for national defense(B)tending elders in their neighborhood(C)working in military factories(D)nursing wounded soldiers(E)promoting the patriotic spirit5.It can be inferred from the passage that “armed services” is most likely to be found in(A)the neighborhood of Chinatown(B)San Francisco’s Red Cross work(C)business industries(D)the front line of Second World War(E)Chinese organized activities6.This passage is most likely found in a(n)(A)novel written in World War two(B)textbook on American history(C)letter to a beloved family member(D)autobiography of a famous person(E)editorial in a newspaper in 1940sIt hung in Napoleon’s bedroom until moving to the Louvre in 1804. It caused traffic jams in New York for seven weeks as 1.6 million people jostled to see it. In Tokyo viewers were allowed ten seconds each. The object of all this attention was the world’s most famous portrait, the Mona Lisa. Historically, its subject was nobody special, probably the wife of a Florentine merchant named Giocondo. But her portrait set the standard for High Renaissance paintings in many important ways. The use of perspective, which created the illusion of depth behind Mona Lisa’s head, and triangular composition established the importance of geometry in painting. It diverged from the stiff, profile portraits that had been the norm by displaying the subject in a relaxed, natural, three-quarter pose. One of the first easel paintings intended to be framed and hung on a wall, the Mona Lisa fully realized the potential of the new oil medium. Instead of proceeding from outlined figures, as painters did before, Leonardo modeled features through light and shadow. Starting with dark undertones, he built the illusion of three-dimensional features through layers and layers of thin, transparent glazes. This technique rendered the whole, as Leonardo said, “without lines of borders, in the manner of smoke.” His colors ranged from light to dark in a continuous gradation of subtle tones, without crisp separating edges. The forms seemed to emerge from, and melt into, shadows.7.The main purpose of this passage is toA)illustrate the characteristics and the value of a well-known masterpieceB)introduce the painting technique of an important genreC)describe the contribution of a distinguished artistD)discuss the influence of an artistic reformE)refute the norm of an aesthetic practice8.The author cites Napoleon’s bedroom to illustrate theA)ambition of NapoleonB)fame of the Mona LisaC)mystery of the Mona LisaD)long history of the Mona LisaE)political use of the Mona Lisa9.By mentioning the identity of Giocondo, the model of Mona Lisa, the author contrastGiocondo’sA)humble origins and her portrait’s monetary valueB)uncomely appearance and her portrait’s beautyC)ordinary status and her portrait’s artistic importanceD)immoral habit and her portrait’s fameE)early death and her portrait’s eternity10.According to the passage, the traditional principle on displaying subject is characterized asA)romanticB)rigidC)looseD)freeE)illusive11.The passage lists which of the following as features of the Mona Lisa?I.graze layersII.subtle changeIII.imposing backdropIV.outlined figureA)I onlyB)II onlyC)I and II onlyD)I, II, and III onlyE)I and IV only12.As it is used in line 7, the word “diverge” most nearly means(A) differ(B) display(C) symbolize(D) build(E) comeGeologists Harris and Gass hypothesized that the Red Sea rift developed along the line of a split (a splice in the Earth’s crust), and that significant observable differences in the composition of the upper layers of rocks deposited on either side of the split give clues to the different natures of the underlying igneous rocks.Other geologists argued that neither the upper rock layer nor the underlying igneous rocks on the one side of the rift differ fundamentally from the layers on the other side. These geologists believe, therefore, that there is inadequate evidence to conclude that a split underlies the rift.In response, Harris and Gass asserted that the upper rock layers on the two sides of the rift had not been shown to be of similar age, structure, or geochemical content. Furthermore, they cited new evidence that the underlying igneous rocks on either side of the rift contain significantly different kinds of rare metals.13.Which of the following has been observed according to the passage?I.the origin of the Red Sea riftII.the difference existed on underlying rocks on either sidesIII.the difference existed on upper rocks on either sidesIV.the split underlying the Red Sea riftA)I onlyB)II onlyC)III onlyD)II and III onlyE)III and IV only14.According to the passage, the most powerful evidence supporting Harris and Gass’shypothesis would beA)the fact that rifts grow along with splits have been observed elsewhereB)the fact that rifts grow on Earth’s crust have been observed elsewhereC)the fact that upper rock gives indications on underlying rock have been observed elsewhereD)the upper rock on either side of the Red Sea rift are totally unlikeE)the underlying rock on either side of the Red Sea rift are totally unlike15.Those who disagree with Harris and Gass’s hypothesis in this passage challenge theA)validity of its evidenceB)strictness of its reasoningC)sufficiency of its proofD)rightness of its motivationE)feasibility of its practice16. According to such an agreement, a labor union talks for wages and working conditions for all workers in a business, and all workers are required to belong to the union. Since 1947, 20 states have adopted right-to-work laws. Much of the research concerning right-to-work laws implies that such law has not actually had a significant impact. This point of view, however, has not gone uncriticized. Thomas Carroll said that the conclusions drawn by previous researchers are limited on the assumption that, unless right-to-work laws significantly reduce union membership within a state, they have no effect. Carroll argues that the right-to-work laws “do matter” in that such laws make differences in real wages across states. Specifically, Carroll indicates that while right-to-work laws may not “destroy” unions by reducing the absolute number of unionized workers, they do stop the spread of unions and thereby reduce wages within right-to-work states. Because the counteracting power of unions is weakened in right-to-work states, manufacturers and their suppliers can act jointly in competitive labor markers, thus lowering wages in the affected industries.23. This passage is primarily to(A)refute the criticism against a law(B)validate the justice of a judgment(C)introduce the content of an agreement(D)compare the point of two group of lawyers(E)illustrate the mechanism unions influence wages24. “right-to-work” law in this passage is enacted to(A)free workers from unions(B)introduce workers to unions(C)improve working condition for workers(D)help suppliers against manufacturers(E)launch counterattack against criticizers25. Both Carroll and previous researchers in this passage agree that “right-to-work” law(A)hardly made any influence(B)effectively prohibit union shop agreement(C)importantly increase the wage of workers(D)notably weakened the competitiveness of workers(E)insignificantly affect the number of union members26. The passage suggests that in term of workers’ wages, the spread of unions is(A)useless(B)harmful(C)beneficial(D)dispensable(E)unhelpful27. According to the passage, Carroll’s attitude toward “previous researchers” is likely to be(A)condemnation(B)appreciation(C)indifference(D)opposition(E)sarcasm28. In right-to-work state, the following statement can be inferred from the passage EXCEPT(A)some workers are not belong to the labor union(B)some workers are not included in the negotiations of the labor union(C)manufacturer have bigger influence on workers’ wages than the past(D)the membership in labor unions stop to increase(E)union shop agreement is held to some degree29. What is the primary purpose of this passage?A)showing evidence to a doubtable viewpointB)giving examples of a wide-spread phenomenonC)finding the motivation of a historical actionD)challenging the validity of an early conclusionE)explaining the economic status of a group of people30. Vishay Semiconductors VOM1271 光电 MosFET 驱动器说明书

Photovoltaic MOSFET Driver with Integrated Fast Turn-Off,Solid-State RelayDESCRIPTIONThe VOM1271 is a stand-alone optically isolated MOSFET driver. Unlike conventional MOSFET drivers, which require an external power supply to provide V CC and or V DD rails to the driver itself, the VOM1271 obtains all the required current to drive its internal circuitry from the LED current on the low voltage primary side of the isolation barrier. This saves the designer the space and cost associated with providing one or more external power supplies. The VOM1271 also integrates a turn-off circuit internal to the component itself, thus doing away with the need for additional components in order to increase the overall switching speed by decreasing the turn-off time. These features, combined with a small SOP4 package, provide designers with a small footprint, highly integrated isolated gate driver solution for a large variety of MOSFET drive applications.FEATURES•Open circuit voltage at I F = 10 mA, 8.4 V typical•Short circuit current at I F = 10 mA, 15 μA typical •Isolation test voltage 4500 V RMS •Logic compatible input •High reliability•Integrated rapid turn-off circuitry•Material categorization:For definitions of compliance please see /doc?99912APPLICATIONS•High-side driver •Solid-state relays •Floating power supply •Power control •Data acquisition •ATE•Isolated solenoid drivers •Isolated high current relay drivers •Isolated high voltage relay driversAGENCY APPROVALSThe safety application model number covering all products in this datasheet is VOM1271. They serve to indicate whether the Xtreme/104 Radio Modem has aquired a lock (ACQ) and whether it is awake (WAK).ACQ (DCD)This LED indicates that the Xtreme/104 Radio Modem has acquired (ACQ) a lock with the hopping pattern. This applies to modems that are configured to be Remotes. A Base RadioModem would have this LED on at all times. The signal which drives this LED is also the DCD input on the serial port. When DCD is on, the Radio Modem has acquired the lock.WAK (DTR)This LED indicates that the Xtreme/104 Radio Modem is awake (WAK), or not sleeping. The serial port DTR signal is driving both this LED and the Sleep Signal of the Radio Modem. When DTR is on, the Radio Modem is awake.Optional External LEDsThe Xtreme/104 Radio Modem includes the option to connect the LED drivers to LEDs located external to board. Connector P4 provides this ability. (See Figure 2). The mounting surface for the antenna end of the patch cable could be the housing of the PC/104 stack or some other mounting surface. A metallic surface is preferred, but not necessary. In most situations a vertical orientation of the antenna works best, but this can be influenced by the environmental factors listed below.A field setup or a final application setup may vary greatly from application to application. Environmental factors play a big role in the effective deployment of wireless communication equipment. The following items need to be considered.• Desired range• Obstacles between the stations (hills, buildings, trees, etc) • RF power output settings of the modules • Attenuation of the interconnecting RF cables • RF gain of the antennas• Prevailing weather conditions• Multi-path (multiple RF pathways) effectsIn many circumstances experiments need to be conducted on the field setup to determine the effectiveness of the setup.Connect Tech’s partner, Cirronet, can offer application assistance with the choice of RF cabling and antennas and with the environmental considerations for a particular field installation. Contact Cirronet to ensure your unique application requirements are met.Xtreme/104 Radio Modem, Connect Tech Inc.ErrataCFG Mode OperationProblem DescriptionRevision “B” boards exhibit a problem when using the Radio Modem CFG Signal control feature (enabled with J2-position-1). SQL Server Technical ArticleWriter: Jonathan FosterTechnical Reviewer: Karthik Pinnamaneni; Andre CiabattariPublished: November, 2013Applies to: SQL Server 2012Summary: This paper examines the performance of an XtremIO All Flash array in an I/O intensive BI environment.CopyrightThis document is provided “as-is”. All rights reserved.IntroductionThe Customer Service & Support BI group at Microsoft (CSSBI) was offered the opportunity to test BI-related SQL loads on EMC’s XtremIO storage unit for ultra-fast IO rates. The group decided to create a load test that simulated peak activity in their data acquisition platform (DAP). The DAP is a single SQLInstance containing 100’s of various size databases hosted on a very powerful server. These databasesare updated w/ new data at various frequencies while at the same time queried by managed systems, reports, and ad hoc users. This paper presents the disk I/O performance of the XtremIO unit in a DAP test environment and also provides disk I/O performance metrics from a standard SAN to be used as a reference point. The purpose of this paper is to provide BI architects and D BA’s with viable performance information for helping select viable hardware configurations to meet specific performance needs.BackgroundAs mentioned previously, the CSSBI DAP server is subjected to competitive IO requests throughout each day with the heaviest load occurring in the early morning business hours. Many of these IO transfers involve large datasets like clickstream or user event data and/or large-object data types like online forum chats and XML data. A portion of these large data flows are repetitive meaning the same query types occur multiple times each day. Near-real time (NRT) subsets of these data flows are also occurring simultaneously. CSSBI’s value to stakeholders is its ability to provide consistently good performance in an easily acc essible symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) environment. The project’s success has resulted in exponential growth of both data and users which has forced the IT owners to regularly upgrade the underlying infrastructure & platform to ensure optimal performance.PurposeWhen EMC shared the technical details and future integration plans of the XtremIO storage unit, the CSSBI IT team wanted to evaluate whether the product might solve a specific need for expanding the NRT or real-time (RT) capability of the DAP for larger datasets as described previously. Most often in these scenarios the solution is one that involves more expensive massive parallel processing (MPP) capability. The CSSBI IT team’s goal is to try and meet the business requirements with a less expensive SMP capability for as long as possible.TestThe test involved a variety of DDL & DML operations having distinctively different I/O patterns organized to run predominately synchronously in order to force longer disk queues. The test was designed and executed within SSIS with the beginning and ending of each step logged to audit tables. The relational landscape consisted of 9 databases containing a mixture of clickstream, incident management, and chat data with a storage footprint of approximately 3.5TB. Other important environment details to call out are:∙The source tables all contained clustered indexes having various levels of fragmentation.∙All SQL engine, system and user db files were intentionally placed on volumes hosted by 1 storage device. For example, during the XtremIO testing all SQL and db files were placed onvolumes presented by the XtremIO device. Conversely, during the SAN comparison test all SQLand db files were placed on volumes presented by the SAN.∙SQL Server memory was intentionally fixed @ 190GB for min and max settings to eliminate memory allocation swaps.∙SQL system cache & buffer pool were cleansed prior to each single test run∙All data flows used OLE DB connections with Rows Per Batch set to 10k & Maximum Insert Commit Size set to 100k∙The clickstream database totaled 1.7TB and was composed of 3 monthly partitions∙The incident & chat databases which contained the bulk of LOB data totaled 1.9TB w/ each having their largest tables spread in monthly partitionsThe following pages summarize each individual test component in a graphical format. The color and pattern of each graphic will correspond to individual line items in the disk latency chart presented later in the results.Click stream test flow Remote extractLocal extractComplex aggregationSequential READsRandom READsSimple aggregationLarge Inefficient XML LookupSmall inefficient XML lookupSmall inefficient XML lookups w/ delete - asyncronousCursor operation in TempDBLong text string operation in TempDBGUID JOIN in TempDBCTE operationLarge DDL & DML in TempDBLarge single remote extractSmall single remote extractRandom READLarge DML operationSmall multiple remote extract & complex aggSmall inefficient XML lookups - syncronousMaintenance TasksSuccess CriteriaOur success criteria was very simple - disk latency avg across all the XtremIO volumes should never exceeded 10 milliseconds and should be sustained below 5 milliseconds. Since it is common for most storage systems to experience short spikes in latency as cache is swapped, we allowed the transgression of the 5ms sustainment for activities shorter than 15 seconds.Test ResultsThe avg test duration was 70 mins and during that time approx. 104k IOPS were generated from approx. 58GB of data movement. Disk latency across the XtremIO volumes never exceeded 4ms including the temporary spikes mentioned previously. The avg disk latency for the first phase of the test which was also the most I/O intensive was < 2ms. The avg disk latency reached its highest when the database restore executed causing sustained latency to bounce between 2ms & 3ms. Once the restore was completed, avg sustained latency remained < 1ms with isolated spikes at 1.75ms.DiagnosticIndex DefragmentationDatabase RestoreSummary & ConclusionThe success criteria outlined for the test was entirely met with final results actually exceeding our most optimistic expectations. Sustained latency rates were well below the recommended 10ms threshold for OLTP applications, therefore, to exceed this threshold in an I/O contentious BI environment is highly commendable. As stated previously, the test package incorporated all the most I/O intensive operations that the CSSBI team will typically observe on the stand-alone DAP instance during peak usage periods. What’s more, it incorporated maintenance operations that typically are schedule during non-peak usage periods. When considering how well the unit performed in an unlikely “worst case scenario” it is feasible that the I/O could be substantially increased further before any storage performance bottleneck would be encountered. In addition, the fact that the XtremIO storage unit was able to easily handle the load with no care given to the actual placement of files on the volumes, or the segregation of files based upon READ/WRITE balance (ex. hosting TempDB files on the same volumes hosting LOB and clickstream data files) has the potential to greatly reduce the time and effort required of DBA’s to organize the storage volumes and the files they host. SAN’s achieve this to some degree with pools and block tiering, however, the setup of the pools and tiers still requires a SAN administrator. What’s more, in most BI environments the rate of change and growth is exponential which requires DBA’s to frequently work with the SAN administrator on storage optimization. However, the XtremIO storage p roduct has the ability to be a “plug and play” solution where the optimization efforts of the DBA and SAN administrator are greatly reduced.Despite the very large storage footprint of most BI systems, it’s common that less than 20% of the data is actively used by the BI end-users. It’s feasible that an XtremIO unit could be provisioned to host the most active data files, thereby allowing the storage of the remaining 80% on less expensive and highly redundant SATA pools either in DAS or SAN. Such a setup could ensure that storage performance was highly optimized without the higher associated expense of the hardware and the support personnel. For more information:/sqlserver/: SQL Server Web site/en-us/sqlserver/: SQL Server TechCenter/en-us/sqlserver/: SQL Server DevCenter/ EMC XtremIODid this paper help you? It assumes that readers are familiar with the installation, setup, and use of the software.Solaris Container Manager is an integral part of Sun TM Management Center software, and it is shipped with the Sun Management Center software as an add-on product. Solaris Container Manager works in a browser-based console to manage software containers, and it helps to maximize resource utilization and increase data center productivity. The Solaris 10 11/06 OS (also called Update 3) provides additional zone management features, such as zone rename, zone move, zone clone, zone migration, and zone privilege management. This Solaris release enhances the Solaris Container Manager 3.6.1 software and provides support for these new features. This Solaris release also provides some enhancements, such as the addition of zone search, the addition of improved alarm management functionality, and the introduction of a new feature to the zone copy operation called “copy with contents.”These enhancements are available as a patch <SCM 3.6.1 Patch 1258>, which you can apply to an existing Solaris Container Manager installation. (Patch IDs are125830-03, 125831-03, 125832-03, 125833-03, and 125834-03.)For more information about Solaris Container Manager and the content presented in this document, see the References section.Zone Management EnhancementsThis section outlines the key zone management enhancements in Solaris Container Manager. These enhancements and additional zone management features are described in Table 1.Table 1: Zone Management FeaturesFeature DescriptionRename This feature allows you to rename an existing zone to a new name.Move This feature allows you to change a zone path to a user-specified path.Clone This feature allows you to clone an existing zone.Migration This feature allows you to migrate a selected zone from the source system to the target system.Detach This feature allows you to detach a zone.Attach This feature allows you to attach a zone.PrivilegeThis feature allows you to configure zone privileges when you create a new zone. ConfigurationZone RenameZone rename is an additional feature in Solaris 10 Update 3, which allows you to rename a non-global zone. For more information, refer to System Administration Guide: Solaris Containers-Resource Management and Solaris Zones (/app/docs/doc/817-1592).The Solaris Container Manager user interface (UI) allows you to select a particular zone and change the zone name by navigating to the zone's Properties tab. For zones hosted on machines that are not running Solaris 10 Update 3, the Zone Name field is disabled. Figure 1 illustrates the zone rename feature.Zone MoveZone move enables non-global zones to be relocated from one zone path to another. For more information, refer to System Administration Guide: Solaris Containers-Resource Management and Solaris Zones (/app/docs/doc/817-1592).The Solaris Container Manager UI allows you to select a particular zone and change the zone path by navigating to that zone's Properties tab. For zones hosted on machines that are not running Solaris 10Update 3, the Zone Path field is disabled. Figure 2 illustrates the zone move feature.Zone CloneZone clone enables administrators to create new non-global zones rapidly. For more information, refer to System Administration Guide: Solaris Containers-Resource Management and Solaris Zones (/app/docs/doc/817-1592).Solaris Container Manager provides a way to clone a zone as a special case of the existing zone copy feature on the same host. A check box is provided for you to choose the clone zone option. This feature is not available for zones hosted on machines that are not running Solaris 10 Update 3. Figure 3illustrates the clone feature.Zone MigrationZone migration is the process of moving an installed non-global zone from one machine to other. Manual zone migration involves many steps, such as detaching the zone on the source machine, migrating the zone archive to the target machine, reconfiguring the zone on the target machine, and attaching the zone on the target machine. With Solaris Container Manager, the entire migration process is presented as a single operation. After you select the zone to be migrated and you click the Migrate Zone button, the Zone Migrate wizard appears. This wizard allows you to select the target machines to which the zone needs to be migrated. This feature simplifies the entire migration process.Note: For the migration to succeed, the source and the target systems must be compatible with respect to the installed packages and patches.Figure 4: Zone MigrationFor flexibility, the UI also allows you to carry out a detach or attach operation. Select the zone to be detached and click the Detach button to perform the detach operation. Similarly, you can initiate an attach operation that takes as input the zone to be attached and the zone path from which the zone can be configured. For more information on the detach and attach feature, refer to System Administration Guide: Solaris Containers-Resource Management and Solaris Zones(/app/docs/doc/817-1592).Copy With ContentsThe “copy with contents” feature is an extension to the zone copy feature provided by Solaris Container Manager (<SCM 3.6.1 Patch 1258>). Selecting the Copy Contents check box enables causes the entire zone to be replicated on the selected target or targets. This feature allows you to copy zones from a single source to multiple targets, as shown in Figure 5.Figure 5: Copy With ContentsConfigurable Privileges for Non-Global ZonesThe limitpriv property of the zonecfg command can be used to specify the set of privileges that processes are limited to in a non-global zone. For more information, refer to System Administration Guide: Solaris Containers-Resource Management and Solaris Zones(/app/docs/doc/817-1592).Solaris Container Manager allows you to do the following:●Create a zone with fewer privileges than the default, safe set●Augment the default set of privileges with additional privilegesYou can exclude certain default privileges by selecting among the list of privileges that are provided in Step 9 of the zone creation process in the New Zone wizard, as shown in Figure 6. The selected privileges are denied to the zone.Figure 6: Excluding PrivilegesSolaris Container Manager also lets you add optional privileges to a zone in Step 10 of the zone creation process in the New Zone wizard, as shown in Figure 7. The selected privileges are granted to the zone in addition to the default privileges.Figure 7: Adding Optional PrivilegesOther EnhancementsThis section discusses features such as alarm enhancements and the search functionality.Alarm EnhancementsThere are enhancements to the alarm functionality for zones and pools, in addition to the existing alarms for projects. You can configure alarms for zone state, zone CPU Threshold, and pool CPU Threshold. Both zone and pool alarms are visible on the Open Alarms page. Also, propagation of zone alarms and pool alarms is visible in the tree up to the zone node. Figure 8 shows where you configure a pool alarm, Figure 9 shows where you configure a zone alarm, Figure 10 shows zone propagation information, and Figure 11 shows the Open Alarms page.Figure 10: Zone Alarm PropagationFigure 11: Open AlarmsSearch FeatureThe search operation helps you locate zones based on the zone name, which you can specify as a wild card or by specifying other details such as host name, OS and platform, the minimum number of processors, the minimum amount of memory, or the clock speed. This feature enables you to select zones according to your requirements, as shown in Figure 12.Figure 12: Search FeatureKnown IssuesThe following is a list of known issues. Fixes are in progress and are planned for future releases:●Zone name and zone path cannot be changed at the same time. The workaround is to avoidchanging both attributes together.●Inconsistencies arise while changing zone path. A changed zone path is reflected immediatelyin the Properties tab, but it takes some time for the changed path to appear on the Zone Table next to that particular zone.●Alarm does not get updated in the tree hierarchy on UI immediately after generation. Similarly, removing an alarm is not reflected in the tree immediately. As a workaround, you click theOpen Alarms tab to apply the change.SummarySolaris Container Manager provides a richer user experience by incorporating important zone features, such as zone rename, zone move, zone migration, and zone clone. Other notable additions in thisrelease are the search feature and enhancements to existing alarm functionality. With the Solaris 10 11/06 OS, you will be able to use all these new features.ReferencesPlease refer to the following documents for additional information about the features described in this document.●Sun Management Center and Solaris OS documents on .●Sun Management Center 3.6.1 User's Guide:/app/docs/doc/819-5417●Installing and Administering Solaris Container Manager 3.6.1:/app/docs/doc/819-5420●Zone rename (see "Using the zonecfg Command")/app/docs/doc/819-2450/6n4o5mdcr?a=view●Zone clone (see "Cloning a Non-Global Zone on the Same System")/app/docs/doc/819-2450/6n4o5mdeo?a=view●Zone move (see "Moving and Migrating Non-Global Zones")/app/docs/doc/819-2450/6n4o5mdfv?a=view●System Administration Guide: Solaris Containers-Resource Management and Solaris Zones:/app/docs/doc/817-1592For more information, please see the IT Management hub on the BigAdmin System Administration Portal:/bigadmin/hubs/sysmgmt/。

整理常见英语词语辨析

精品文档英语词语辨析compete, contest和match三个字都作「竞争」和「比赛」解,其间有什么差别呢?Compete指两个(或一些)人或派别之间,为达到某种目标而进行的竞争。

例如:Only two men aie competing for the cup (只有两人在争夺奖杯)。

The US and Iiaqi ainiies were competing for victoiy in the battle (美伊两军打仗时各自在争取胜利)。

Contest是为夺取胜利而展开竞争或进行比赛,或为获得控制权或某种优势而争夺。

例如:There are tluee candidates entering the contest for the presidency (布.三名侯选人参加总统竞选)。

若作为及物动词,contest亦可解作「提出异议」,例如:The father of the deceased billionaiie contests the will (那已过身的亿万富豪之父对遗嘱提出异议)。

Match则表示与人对抗或比试,例如:The boy matches his strength with his brother (男孩与其兄弟比试力气)。

Match也可解作「匹敌」,例如:For food no country can match China (至于食物,没有一个国家可与中国媲美)。

Contest 和match 尚可作名词用,习惯上说a beauty contest、a speech contest,但a basketball match oAgree to 与Agree witli 的分别按agree with是「赞成」,其受词可以是人、计划、分析、建议等,例如:(1)I agree with the proposal(我赞成这个建议)。

(2)I agree with his analysis of the situation(我同意他对情况的分析(3)I agree with every word you5ve just said(你刚才说的每一个字我都同意)。

This document describes features of the Itanium processor’s implementation of IA-64 which are relevant to performance tuning, compilation, and assembly language programming. Unless otherwise stated, all of the restrictions, rules, sizes, and capacities described in this chapter apply specifically to the Itanium processor and may not apply to other IA-64 implementations.General understanding of IA-64 processor behavior and explicit familiarity with IA-64 instructions are assumed (please see the Intel® IA-64 Architecture Software Developer's Manual , OrderNumber 245317 for Volume 1, Order Number 245318 for V olume 2, and Order Number 245319 for Volumes 3 and 4 for a full description of IA-64).This document describes a wide variety of topics related to the Itanium processor from a software perspective. The details provided are intended for the performance programmer or compiler writer. Note that the amount of space devoted to each topic is not necessarily a representation of how important the topic is. For example, predication, control speculation, data speculation, functional unit resources and latencies are all likely to have a greater effect on performance than using the branch hints even though a large amount of space has been devoted to describing the branch hints. The information provided here is as accurate as can be described in a short, concise description of the behavior of the Itanium processor microarchitecture. Since the goal is to provide information for performance tuning of broad range of applications, some information (especially related to virtual memory, control registers, branch and prefetch, and deeper levels of the memory pipeline) is approximate because full description of the behavior is beyond the scope of this document.2.0Function Units and Issue RulesThis section describes the number and type of functional units available, rules that will avoid unnecessary execution stalls, and topics related to instruction placement and issue.2.1Execution ModelThe Itanium processor issues and executes instructions in software-supplied order, so compiler understanding of stall conditions is essential for generating efficient assembly code.In general, when an instruction does not issue at the same time as the instruction immediately before it, instruction execution is said to have split issue . When a split issue condition occurs, all instructions after the split point stall one or more clocks, even if there are sufficient resources for some of them to execute. Split issue refers to a stall of this sort even though the stall could be caused by scoreboarding, instruction alignment, functional unit oversubscription, or other pipeline-related stalls.Common causes of split issue in the Itanium processor are:•There are insufficient resources to execute an instruction.•Any of the source registers for an instruction are not yet available from their producing instructions.• A stop is encountered.•Instructions have not been placed in accordance with issue rules on the Itanium processor.•Instruction group alignment rules have not been followed.Itanium™ Processor Microarchitecture Reference22.2Functional Unit Class DefinitionsThe table below classifies IA-64 instructions by instruction classes that are used to defineinstruction latencies, bypasses, and functional unit capabilities. If an instruction group contains more instructions than there are execution units for that type of instruction, the first instruction for which an appropriate unit cannot be found will cause a split issue.Execution units are usually classified by slot type: I, F, M, or B. A-type instructions in IA-64 can be scheduled to execute on either M or I type units. Note that the functional units on the Itanium processor are generally asymmetric with respect to the set of instructions they can execute. For example, even though there are two I-units, I0 and I1, only I0 can execute the tbit instruction. All of the computational functional units are fully pipelined so each functional unit can accept one new instruction per clock cycle in the absence of other types of stalls. There are some exceptions for access to system instructions and registers, but such issues are beyond the scope of this document. The next sections describe the functional units and the type, number, and classes of instructions that each can execute.IPQ _X break.x, nop.xPNT addp4, shladdp4ST@_B clrrrb, coverST@_M flushrs, loadrsSEM cmpxchg, fetchadd, xchgSFCVTFX fpcvt.fx, fpcvt.fxuSFMAC fpma, fpms, fpnmaSFMERGESE fpmerge.seSFMISC fpamax, fpamin, fpcmp, fpmax, fpmerge.ns, fpmerge.s, fpmin, fprcpa, fprsqrtaSTF stf8, stfd, stfe, stfs, stf.spillST st, st8.spillT`TU _B2bsw,rfiSYST_Bepc T`TU _M0hyy p pp sp uhy v p q v p v v q v v s h ir p r p t p th p y q v hx uh u h ht , 2 2 à à 2 2 x 2 2 x q2 2 q p2 2 p à 2 2 vi = à 2vi à qi = à 2qi à 2p vqT`TU _M fwb, invala, invala.e, mf, srlz.d, srlz.i, sync.iTBITtbit UP6S _Iv h 2UP6S _Mh 2TOBRi 2TOCRp 2TOFRsetf TOPR2XMAxma XTD czx, sxt, zxtFunctional UnitClass Name List of InstructionsItanium™ Processor Microarchitecture Reference42.3.1IntegerInteger ALUs execute I-type and A-type instructions. The Itanium processor has three branch (B) units that function as follows:•B0 and B2 can consume all B-type instructions. However, B2 cannot consume SYST_B0•B1 can execute all B-type instructions except SYST_B2; however, brp instructions sent to B1 will be ignored.2.3.4Floating-pointFloating-point execution units execute F-type instructions. The Itanium processor has two floating-point (F) units that function as follows:•F0 can execute all F-type instructions.•F1 can execute all F-type instruction classes except: FMISC, SFMISC, FCMP, SFMERGESE.2.4Instruction Slot to Functional Unit MappingThe specific Itanium processor functional unit to which an instruction is sent is determined by its instruction slot type and its position within the current set of instructions being issued. The process of sending instructions to functional units is called dispersal . The Itanium processor hardware makes no attempt to reorder instructions to avoid stalls. Thus, the compiler must be careful about the number, type, and order of instructions inside an instruction group to avoid unnecessary stalls. The presence of predicates on instructions has no effect on dispersal – all instructions are dispersed in the same fashion whether predicated true, predicated false, or unpredicated. Similarly, nops are dispersed to functional units as if they were normal instructions. When deciding on functional units for instruction dispersal, the Itanium processor views at most two bundles at a time. This text refers to these bundles as the first and second bundles. A bundle rotation causes new bundles to be brought into the two-bundle window of instructions being considered for issue.Itanium™ Processor Microarchitecture Reference5If all of the instructions in both the first and second bundle are issued as shown above, a two bundle rotation occurs: The rotation brings in new first and second bundles as shown below:In the state shown above, all of the instructions in the first bundle have been issued, but not all of the instructions in the second have been issued. The reason the last two instructions did not issue is because there were no I units left for the second slot of the second bundle. This will cause a single bundle rotation will be performed as shown next:The instructions in the first bundle have continued down the execution pipeline, the second bundle has become the first, and a new second bundle has been rotated in. The following rules describe the effect of split issue on bundle rotation:•Any split issue condition in the first bundle prevents bundle rotation from occurring.•In the absence of split issue conditions in the first bundle, any split issue condition in the second bundle will cause a single bundle rotation to occur.•If there are no split issues in the dispersal window, a double bundle rotation results. If the dispersal rules would cause an instruction to be issued to a functional unit that does not have resources to execute that instruction (for example, if a tbit were dispersed to I1), or all functionalItanium™ Processor Microarchitecture Reference6units capable of executing that instruction have already been taken by earlier instructions, a resource oversubscription occurs and issue splits before the instruction. If some of the instructions in the dispersal window are not dispatched, the dispersal rules are retried in the next cycle after the bundle rotation rules are applied. This approach guarantees forward progress because after a split issue, some of the instructions earlier in the group have already issued and are no longer competing for issue resources.2.4.1Execution WidthSince the Itanium processor looks at two bundles at a time during dispersal, it can issue a maximum of six instruction slots per clock. This six slot collection can contain at most two I-slots, two M-slots, two F-slots, and three B-slots regardless of the instructions in those slots and the values of any predicates.2.4.2Dispersal RulesThe dispersal rules for execution units vary according to slot type type and are summarized below:Rules for M/I slots An I slot in the third position of the second bundle is always dispersed toI1.Otherwise, an M or I instruction is dispersed to the lowest numbered Mor I unit not already in use.Rules for F slotsAn F slot in the first bundle disperses to F0.An F slot in the second bundle disperses to F1.Rules for B slots Each B slot in an MBB or BBB bundle disperses to the corresponding Bunit. That is, a B slot in the first position of the template is dispersed toB0. In the second position it is dispersed to B1. In the third position it isdispersed to B2.The B in an MIB/MFB/MMB bundle disperses to B0 if it is a brp ornop.b , otherwise it disperses to B2.Rules for L slots An MLX bundle uses ports equivalent to an MFI bundle.2.4.3Instruction Dispersal ExamplesSince the Itanium processor has one constant width integer shifter, the following sequence will split issue after the add , and no bundle rotation will occur. The extr and all the instructions in the second bundle will issue in the next cycle, and a double bundle rotation will follow:{ .miild4 r1=[r5]// Maps to M0, first cycleadd r2=r5,r6// Maps to I0, first cycleextr r3=r8,5,3// Stall - extr on I0 only// extr Issues in second cycle to I0.}{ .mbbld4r20=[r22](p2)br.cond L1(p1)br.cond L2}However, if the compiler reorders the instructions so that extr comes first, then all sixinstructions issue in one clock, followed by a double bundle rotation:{ .miild4 r1=[r5]// Maps to M0extr r3=r8,r5,3// Maps to I0add r2=r5,r6// Maps to I1}{ .mbbld4 r20=[r22]// Maps to M1br.cond L1// Maps to B1(p1)br.cond L2// Maps to B2}2.4.4Split Issue and Bundle Types on the Itanium™ ProcessorOnly certain pairs of bundle templates can be used together without causing split issue conditions. This due to the fact that all slots are issued to functional units even if they contain nops. Forexample, independent of the particular instructions residing in the slots, each of the followingsequences of bundle pairs will split issue due to functional unit oversubscription:MMI M MI Splits issue before third M slot because M0 and M1 are both busy.MII M I I Splits issue before third I because both I0 and I1 are busy.MMI M II Splits issue before third M as M0 and M1 are busy.MII MF I Splits issue before third I as I0 and I1 are both busy.In addition to resource oversubscription, there are several Itanium processor-specific special casesbased on slot types and instructions that will cause split issue:MMF Always splits issue before first M and after F regardless of surroundingbundles and stops.BBB/MBB Always splits issue after either of these bundles.MIB/MFB/MMB Splits issue after any of these bundles unless the B slot contains a nop.bor a brp instruction.MIB BBB Splits issue after the first bundle in this pair.Note that all of the split issue conditions described here are implementation dependent and explicitstops must still be used to delimit instruction groups to generate legal IA-64 code. There are a few other special split issue conditions. The Itanium Processor will split issue aftermf.a, halt.mf, inval, invala.e, and after any instruction in class SEM2.5Instruction Group AlignmentIf an instruction group extends across a cache-line boundary in the first level instruction cache, there are intricate rules that determine if the instruction group will split issue at the boundary. As ageneral rule, these types of stalls are likely to occur early in a basic block. Thus, a compiler mainlyneeds to consider instruction group alignment at the beginning of basic blocks in which the firstinstruction group crosses a cache line.Another alignment issue is related to the dispersal window: Since the dispersal window on theItanium processor is exactly two bundles wide and only moves in whole-bundle increments, anyinstruction group that spans three or more bundles is guaranteed to split issue at the end of thesecond bundle even if no resources are oversubscribed. The example below shows an instruction group that spans more than two bundles. The effectiveissue times are to the right of each instruction:L:{ .miiadd r1=r2,r3// 0add r4=r5,r6 ;;// 0sub r7=r8,r9// 1}{ .mfild4 r14=[r56]// 1fadd f10=f12,f13// 1add r16=r18,r19 // 1: Split issue occurs// after this instr}{ .mmist4 [r16]=r67 ;; // 2add r24=r56,r57 // 3add r28=r58,r59 // 3}In this sequence, the Itanium processor has sufficient functional units to execute the instructiongroup starting at the sub instruction and ending with the st4 instruction in one cycle; however, execution will split issue at the end of the second bundle since the instruction group extendsbeyond the dispersal window.3.0Itanium™ Processor Latencies and BypassesAn instruction I scheduled in clock i has a total latency of N cycles to instruction J if J can bescheduled no sooner than cycle i+N to avoid stalls due to latency. There are two components thatdetermine the total latency of pairs of instructions:•The latency of the producing instruction.•The time to bypass the result to the dependent operation. The next section provides the total latency for most common cases. Some of the most importantexceptions to these latencies are also described in Section3.4. There are a very small number ofhighly uncommon and irregular cases that are not covered by these tables.3.1Important Functional Unit Total LatenciesThe table below describes the latencies of broad classes of operations, but there are a significantnumber of exceptions to these rules. The full instruction latency table has several asymmetric casesand requires consideration of the type of instruction producing the result, the functional unit onwhich that instruction is executing, and the type of the consumer instruction. The classes providedhere are only used as a notation for describing latencies on the Itanium processor and are not part ofthe IA-64 architectural specification.Overall, these latencies are correct for producer-consumer pairs in which both instructions executeon the same type of unit: multimedia (MMxxx classes), floating point (Fxxx), parallel floatingpoint (SFxxx), integer (IALU, ILOG, ICMP, LD, ST):Source InstructionGeneral Description Latency (Cycles)ClassFCMP Floating compare to branch1Floating compare to non-branch instruction 2FCVTFX Convert to fix7FMAC Floating arithmetic5FMISC Floating min, max, frcpa, . . . 5FRAR_M, FRAR_I mov =ar.xx (M/I slot instruction)See Section6.0FRCR mov =cr (register dependent)See Section6.0FRFR FP to GP register copy2FRIP mov =ip2FRPR mov =pr2IALU Integer ALU1ICMP, TBIT Integer compare to dependent branch0Integer compare1ILOG Logical1ISHF dep, extr, shrp1MMALU_A A type multimedia2LONG Long mov1MMALU_I I type multimedia.2MMMUL Parallel multiply2MMSHF shl, shr, unpack, pshl, pshr,. . . .2SEM semaphore operations See Section6.0SFCVTFX SIMD fcvtfx7SFMAC SIMD FMACs5SFMERGESE SIMD fmerge.se7SFMISC Miscellaneous SIMD FP5SYST(reg dependent latency)See Section6.0TOAR_I, TOAR_M I/M-type mov ar.xx= (reg dependent latency)See Section6.0TOCR mov cr= (reg dependent latency)See Section6.03.2Memory System Latencies and PenaltiesThe following latencies are for memory operations and memory related flushes.3.3Branch Related Latencies and PenaltiesThe following latencies are for branch operations and branch related flushes.TOFR GP to FP register copy 8TOPR mov pr=1XMPY FP integer multiply (to another XMPY)7XTDsxt, zxt, czx1Source InstructionClass General DescriptionLatency (Cycles)Source Instruction Class or Event DescriptionLatency (Cycles)CHK_I, CHK_M, CHK_ALATchk.a (ALAT hit), chk.s (no NaT/NatVal)0chk.a (ALAT miss), chk.s (NaT/NatVal)50+CLD, FCLD ld*.c (ALAT hit, L1/L2 hit)0ld*.c (ALAT miss, L1/L2 hit)10FLD, FLDP FP load (L2 hit)9FP load (L3 hit)24LD Integer loads except ld.c (L1 hit)2Integer loads except ld.c (L2 hit)6Integer loads except ld.c (L3 hit)21DTC MissNumber of bubble cycles in pipeline due to DTC miss flush10Source Instruction Class or Event DescriptionLatency (Cycles)FRBR mov =br 2TOBRmov br=1Mispredicted Branch PenaltyDead cycles from time branch is executed to time next instruction is started9Taken Branch BubblesNumber of front end bubbles inserted on a correctly predicted taken branch0/1/2/33.4Summary of Exceptions to Total LatencyThere are usually extra bypass latencies incurred when a result is computed on one type of unit and consumed on another. The table below describes most of these longer total latencies on the Itanium processor:3.5Predicates and BypassingIn the presence of predication, the actual dependences between non-unit latency instructions are sometimes determined at execution time rather than at compile time. Predication does not affect bypass latency of unit latency instructions. The discussion below provides a high-level of detail about the effect of predication on bypassing, but the overall effect on performance due to these cases is generally very small.Consider the code below. If p1 were false at runtime, there would be no dependence between instructions B and C, so C could issue in cycle 2. On the other hand, if p1 were true, then instruction C would be dependent upon B and would have to stall until B completed:cmp.eq p1,p2=r5,r4 ;;// Cycle 0: instr A (p1)ld8 r1=[r3] ;;// Cycle 1: instr B add r3=r1,r2// Cycle ?: instr CWhether the predicate is true or false, if the distance between the producer of the predicate and the consumer of a bypassed general register is less than two cycles, the consuming instruction will stall until the second cycle after the compare. In the code below, the consumer (add ) is predicated whileSource InstructionClass Target Instruction ClassTotal Latency IALU (for I slot instructions only) LD,ST/address register IALU + 1ILOG LD,ST/address register ILOG + 1 LD LD,ST/address register LD + 1IALU, ILOG MMMUL, MMSHF, MMALU IALU+2, ILOG+2LDMM operationLD + 1MM operationsIALU, ILOG, ISHF, ST, LDIf scheduled <4 cycles apart, 10 clocks; If schedule >=4 cycles apart) 4 clocks TOBR, TOPR, TOAR (pfs only)BR 0FRBR, FRCR, FRIP , or FRAR (FRxx)MMMUL, MMSHF, MMALU FRxx + 1FMACFMISC, ST, FRFRFMAC + 2SFxxx (32-bit parallel floating point)Fxxx (64/82-bit floating point)SFxxx + 2 cycles Fxxx (64/82-bit floating point)SFxxx (32-bit parallel floating point)Fxxx + 2 cyclesthe producer (ld8) is not. The compare and consumer are only scheduled one cycle apart. The addwill stall until cycle 2 while waiting to see if the predicate is true:cmp.eq p1,p2=r5,r4// Cycle 0ld8 r1=[r3] ;;// Cycle 0(p1)add r3=r1,r2 // Stalls until cycle 2// even if p1 is falseA special case where there must be three cycles between the compare and the consumer of abypassed register value is shown below:cmp.eq p1,p2=r5,r4 ;;// Cycle 0(p1)add r1=r2,r3 ;;// Cycle 1ld8 r6=[r1]// Cycle 3During execution of this code, the ld8 will stall one cycle. To avoid the stall, one additional cyclemust be scheduled somewhere between the cmp and ld8. This special case applies when thesethree conditions are met:1.A predicated address computation is feeding a load, and2.The address computation was performed in an M slot, and3.The address computation was an IALU (not including ILOG) instruction.4.0Memory HierarchyThe Itanium processor memory hierarchy includes:•The first level data cache (L1-D)• The first level instruction cache (L1-I)• The second level unified cache (L2)• The third level unified cache (L3)• The first-level data translation lookaside buffer (L1-DTLB)• The second-level data translation lookaside buffer (L2-DTLB)• The instruction translation cache (ITLB)• The main memory (frontside) bus4.1L1 Data CacheThe L1 data cache is 4-way set associative, write through, no write allocate with 32-byte lines. TheL1 cache can sustain 2 loads, 2 stores, or 1 load and 1 store per clock. Integer loads that hit in L1have a 2 cycle latency to most consumer operations. Floating-point loads always bypass the L1data cache.Stores that write values that are loaded soon afterwards, referred to as store to load forwarding, may require extra cycles. Any load from an address to which a store was made within the last 3cycles (inside any part of an aligned 64-bit region) will cause the load to bypass L1 and read fromL2.。
