教材分析
本课是北师大版《初中英语》七年级下册教材第6单元第18课,话题为动物。

第三单元的前两课学习内容包括如何介绍我最喜欢的动物和如何描述有趣的动物。

本课学习一篇有关人和动物的感人故事,为最终进行本单元的综合语言输出奠定必要的语言基础。

本节课的教学设计分为两个课时。

第一课时侧重对阅读文章的理解,引导学生通过阅读提取有关John、Anthony和狮子Christian之间感人故事的具体事实。

在阅读活动中,引导学生提取故事发展的主线信息和细节信息,在读前、读中理解与话题相关的词汇,在语篇中关注方式副词的表意功能,最后结合课文信息和语言信息进行输出性活动。

第二课时在复习有关狮子的感人故事和巩固相关语言的基础上,引入本课的语法功能——方式副词,学习其基本结构和语用功能。

在语境中进行多层面的练习,最后运用方式副词写一篇有关动物的小故事。
