Abstract:Perform ance characteristics data of solar photovoltaic(PV)cell/module are conventionally obtained under standard testing conditions. In the present work.the performan ce of PV m odules under extreme temperatures and insolations experienced in State of Oatar was utilized to aid presenting a simplified characterization approach for the special case of a rid environmental conditions. The chosen m odel was the wel1.known single diode model with both series and parallel resistors f or greater accuracy. The modeling technique w as validated by com paring the num erically calculated electrical cha r acteristics w ith experim entally obtained data using two approaches:a single indoor fixed m onocrystalline PV m odule inside a solar sim ulation cham ber which physically sim ulated different w emher scena r ios by changing iITadiation intensities and tem perature.and a set ofoutdoor f ixed polycrystalline PV m odules. The result of the indoor experiment was presented in form of performance curves.a n d the outdoor experiment results in a monthly accumulated Dow er production chart forillat. Both illustration types show ed acceptable tolerance.
