从词汇化视角探讨英语专业学生宾语从句使用与写作能力的关联性

——基于《中国学生英语口笔语语料库》的研究

摘要:中国学生的英语能力,尤其是英文写作能力历来为人们诟病。而英语专业学生在接受写作课程的专业培养后,英文写作能力进步并不显著,甚至有倒退现象。造成这一现象的原因除去课程设置、教学法等方面的因素,还有不可忽视的语言认知能力的因素,然而国内有关此方面的研究严重不足。笔者采用语料库的研究方法,对比四个年级英语专业学生作文中的宾语从句使用变化后发现,英语专业大一到大三的宾语从句使用频率呈下降趋势,然而大三到大四则陡增,表明英语语言水平一定程度的下降;宾语从句前的动词也以think为主,语言的丰富度并没有显著提高,值得深思。基于此,笔者以词汇化为理论依据,从篇章结构出发,探讨英语专业学生的写作能力不足的因素,从而进一步为写作教学与研究提出建议。

A Correlative Study on the Use of Object Clauses and English Majors‟ Writing Ability from the Perspective of Lexicalization: A Research Based on Corpus Abstract: Chinese students‟ English ability, especially writing ability is constantly under public denunciation. English majors‟ writing ability, after professional writing course education, reaches little tangible result and is even faced with retrogression. Such phenomenon is ascribable to not only course design and pedagogical methods but also by-no-means negligible linguistic cognition competence yet to which domestic research is seriously insufficient. The author adopts research methods of corpora, compares the use of object clauses in English majors‟ writings in four grades and finds out that the frequency of object clauses declines from freshmen to juniors while increases drastically from juniors to seniors; verbs used before object clauses gravitate to the word “think”, revealing no evident language richness. Based on the fore-mentioned situation, the author takes lexicalization as theoretical ground and discourse structure as a tool, probes into linguistic factors concerning English majors‟ writing ability deficit, and hopefully offers advice towards English writing teaching and research.
