Imagine a school with more than 1,800 classes in maths, science, and history. What’s more, this school is open twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. The best part is that it’s free! Welcome to the Khan Academy.
The Khan Academy is a collection of short education videos. Each one teaches a different lesson in easy-to-understand English, and most are about ten minutes long. The school now has its own website, and about 200,000 students a month are using this online school. Bill Gates has watched its educational videos with his son, and he has praised(赞扬)the school in public.
The man responsible for the Khan Academy is Salman Khan. It all started when Khan agreed to teach his young cousin maths. He began by using a computer and a phone. Later, he made videos and uploaded them online. Soon after, people
around the world started watching these educational
videos.
The secret of the school’s success is videos. They are made with simple tools, and they don’t show the teachers. Instead, drawings, diagrams, and explanations are used to get to their heart of a subject very quickly.
Not everyone likes the Khan Academy. Some people blamed that there was a lack of teacher-student interaction(互动)that was found in traditional schools. However, many praise the Khan Academy for its straight approach, saying that it helps them understand ideas more quickly.
As for Khan, his dream continues to be built “the world’s first free, world-class online school”. To help Khan achieve that dream, Google has given him US $2 million. Many people have special pets. One of them is the fiddler crab(招潮蟹). It is just like a living clock. It shows the time of day by the colour of its skin, which is dark by day and nearly white by night. The crab’s changing colour follows a regular twenty-
four hour schedule(时间表)that exactly matches the daily rhythm of the sun.
People who raise fiddler crabs usually like a pair of them, that is, a male and a female. The size of the claws makes it very easy to tell the difference between male and female fiddler crabs. A male fiddler crab has one claw that is larger than both its other claws and the claws of the females. The females have two small claws.
Even without daylight, the crab’s skin colour continues to change exactly on time. This
probably developed slowly in answer to the daily rising and setting of the sun, to help protest the crab from sunlight and enemies. After millions of years it has become completely regular inside the living body of the crab.
The scientist notice that once each day the colour of the fiddler crab is especially dark, and that each day this happens fifty minutes later than on the day before. From this they discovered that each crab follows not only the rhythm of the sun but also that of the tide(潮⽔). The crab’s period of greatest darkening is exactly the time of low tide on the beach where it was caught!
36. How does a fiddler crab change its colour?
A. It changes colour according to the time.
B. It changes colour according to the weather.
C. It changes colour when it sees its enemies.
D. It changes colour when it is looking for food.
37. What can we learn from the second paragraph?

B. Female fiddler crabs have one bigger claw.
C. A female fiddler crab’s claw is bigger than those of a male one.
D. A male fiddler crab has one claw that is bigger than those of a female one.
