Oh, he’s studying for a test.
(in the living room 意为“在客厅里”;listen to the radio 意为“听广播,听收音机”;study for a test 意为“为考试而学习,准备考试”。

三个句子都是现在进行时态的肯定句形式,只是主语不同。

现在进行时态的肯定句形式为be +v.-ing, be动词根据句子主语来决定使用am, is, are。

2.1 Fundamental State基本情况
本节课是本单元最后一个课型,主要是对本单元知识的总结和知识运用能力的提升。

学生通过前面几节课的学习,对本单元的topic,functions,target language 已经有了清楚的认识,对动词短语现在进行时态的使用进行了许多的练习,对动作和图片的描述从陌生变得熟悉,为本节课的开放性写作做好了铺垫,搭建了足够的语言支架。

本节课的另外一个任务就是对本单元话题做总结和系统复习,并通过写作来提升。

2.2 Knowledge Reserve知识储备
经过前四个课时围绕单元话题talk about what people are doing 的学习,大部分学生已经掌握了大量的动词短语和现在进行时的各类句型结构,为本节课的口头输出和书面表达打下了坚实的基础。

本节课将在听说读的基础上进行简单的语言输出,在写作上训练和发展学生的书面表达能力。

学会用动词短语和现在进行时态描述图片和图片中人物的活动进行语言输出。

2.3 Class data本班实际
本班学生英语基础知识和基本语法掌握比较扎实,对本单元动词短语和现在进行
时态描述图片和图片中人物的活动已经非常熟练,学生们具备了问答交际和独立描述图片的语言能力;本班的学生在参与小组讨论,在小组内部发表见解也比较积极主动。

但是学生在全班进行写作展示和对别人的作品进行评价方面还不够积极。

因此,在课堂设计中应加入展示激励措施,增加展示评比的环节,鼓励学生积极主动参与课堂展示。

5.1 Reviewing and Summarizing 复习与总结
5.1.1 Show some pictures and ask students to ask and answer with the verb activities and the Present Progressive Tense.
5.1.2 Provide Ss with a comprehensive review of key vocabulary and functions presented in this unit about activities.

Ask Ss to make sentences by using these verb phrase and the Present Progressive Tense.
5.1.2.1 Self Check 1
Let Ss to observe the verbs in the box and make sure they’ve known what to do. Ask them to add more words.
Then give Ss 2 mins to fill in the blanks.
Work in groups to check their answers and draw a conclusion about to change these verbs when we use the Present Progressive Tense.
Write at least 5 sentences using the words.
5.1.2.2 Self Check 2
Write questions to complete the conversation. Give Ss 3 mins to finish making these sentences.
Work in groups to check their answers.
5.2 Discussing and Expressing--讨论与表达
5.2.1 Activity 3a prepare Ss for the writing practice by giving
them opportunity to complete Jim’s letter by using the Present Continuous Tense.
Ask Ss to look at the picture in 3a and answer the questions.
1) Which one is Jim? What is he doing?
2) Where are they now?
Ask Ss to practice by asking and answering according to the pictures.
Fill in the chart.
Work in groups to check their answers.
T checks the answers and gets Ss to read it aloud.
5.2.2 Discuss the learning tips: How can we describe a picture?
Ask Ss to find out the structure and sentences.
1) Introduction: Here is a photo/picture of…
2) Paragraph: Main idea—the places they are now
Supporting sentences (details: What are they doing?)—describe the activities by using the Present Continuous Tense.
Final sentence—I think…
5.2.3 Activity 3b prepare Ss for the writing practice by asking Ss to bring some photos of their own or draw some pictures of them and their family or friends and write about them.
5.3 Writing and Improving 写作与完善
5.3.1话题剖析
本单元的话题是“谈论人们正在做什么”,以及由此涉及到动词短语和现在进行时的使用。

该话题取材于日常生活,与学生日常学习生活联系紧密,学生有话可说,有话想说。

在考试中常见考点为动词短语和现在进行时的考查,也可见对图片的描述。

但要注意与一般现在时的用法区别。

5.3.2 写作任务
最近你们班转来了一名新同学,他来自美国,对班上的情况不是很了解。

为了帮助他尽快融入班级生活,请根据以下信息和图片,向
他简单介绍一下你们班的校园生活。

词数:60词左右。
