帮助亲人使用互联网的经历英语作文Helping Grandma Discover the Internet
The internet is such an amazing thing, isn't it? It's like a huge library with all the books in the world, except even better because you can watch videos, play games, and talk to people too! I learned all about the internet at school and I just love using it to research topics I'm interested in and watch funny videos.
At first, my grandma didn't understand the internet at all. She's pretty old - almost 80 years old! When she was young, they didn't have computers or smartphones or anything like that. I remember one day she was visiting and I was using my mom's laptop to watch a video about pandas. Grandma saw it and got really confused.
"Jessica, what is that flat TV you're looking at?" she asked me. "It's not a TV Grandma, it's a laptop computer," I explained. "I'm watching a video about pandas on the internet."
Grandma furrowed her eyebrows. "The internet? What's that?" She looked totally puzzled. So I tried to explain it to her in a way she would understand.
"You know how TV lets you watch shows, and the radio lets you listen to music and news?" She nodded slowly. "Well, the
internet is kind of like that, except it's not just TV and radio.
It's...everything! You can watch videos or listen to music, but you can also read books and newspapers, buy things from stores, look at pictures, and even talk to people across the world!"
Grandma's eyes got really wide. "My goodness, that sounds like a whole lot! How does this 'internet' know about all those things?" I giggled at how amazed she sounded. It's hard to imagine a world without the internet now!
"The internet connects millions and millions of computers all over the world together," I said. "That's how it has information about everything! Isn't that incredible?"
Grandma seemed to consider this for a moment. "I suppose it is incredible, at that. I had no idea such a thing existed! Could you show me more about this 'internet?'"
I was so excited that Grandma wanted to learn! I opened up
a we
b browser and started showing her websites about her favorite hobbies like knitting, gardening, and cooking. Her eyes got bigger and bigger as I pulled up videos with knitting tutorials, blogs with gardening tips, and recipes from all over the world.
"How does this make you feel, Grandma?" I asked her. "Isn't it amazing that you can find anything you want to know about, right from a computer?"
Grandma patted my hand. "You know, it truly is amazing, Jessica. Why, in my day, we had to go to the library and look through books for any information on our hobbies and interests. Now the world's knowledge is right at your fingertips! What an astounding time we live in."
Over the next few weeks, Grandma insisted that I show her more about using the internet every time she came over. I taught her how to use a search engine to look up topics she was interested in. I showed her how to check her email and she started emailing my mom and aunts. Grandma's favorite thing, though, was looking up vintage recipes and sharing them to a message board for other older ladies who loved cooking.
"Can you believe I'm sharing my beloved chocolate cake recipe with a woman in Australia?" she asked me in amazement. "Why, they're halfway across the world!"
I smiled hugely, so proud of Grandma for learning to use the internet. "That's the great thing about the internet, Grandma. It connects people no matter where they live. You can share your thoughts and interests with folks all over the world!"
After a few months of me teaching her, Grandma saved up her money and bought her very first tablet computer. She was so proud of her new gadget. Once I helped her get it set up and running, she was able to use it just like a computer to explore the internet whenever she wanted.
Grandma started using her tablet every single day once she got the hang of it. She read newspaper websites in the morning over breakfast, emailing friends and family throughout the day. In the evenings, she would watch reruns of her favorite classic TV shows on streaming services. Sometimes she would video call my aunts who lived across the country just to chat and see their faces.
"I don't know how I ever lived without the internet!" Grandma exclaimed to me. "I'm able to stay connected, informed, and entertained in my golden years thanks to this miraculous technology. Thank you for your patience in teaching this old lady, Jessica. You've opened up a whole new world for me."
Seeing Grandma's joy at being able to use the internet made me feel so happy and proud inside. She had been hesitant about technology at first, but once she saw how amazing and useful it could be, she embraced it wholeheartedly. Grandma is definitely an internet professional now!
I'm so grateful I was able to help introduce my sweet Grandma to the wonders of the internet. It's crazy to think about how just a few decades ago, none of this was even possible. Now everything we could ever want to learn, see, or experience is right at our fingertips thanks to the internet. By helping Grandma use this invaluable tool, I've connected her to a rich world of knowledge and allowed her to continue learning, exploring her interests, and staying in touch with loved ones from anywhere. Not bad for a pocket computer, huh?。
