(05浙江卷 A 篇)Compassion is a desire within us to help others. With effort, we can translate compassion into action. An experience last weekend showed me this is true.I work part-time in a supermarket across from a building for the elderly. These old people are our main customers, and it’s not hard to lose patience over their slowness. But last Sunday, one aged gentleman appeared to teach me a valuable lesson. This untidy man walked up to my register(收款机) with a box of biscuits. He said he was out of cash(现金), had just moved into his room, and had nothing in his cupboards. He asked if we could let him have the food on trust. He promised to repay me the next day.I couldn’t help staring at him.I wondered what kind of person he had been ten or twenty years before, and what he would be like if luck had gone his way.I had a hurt in my heart for this kind of human soul, all alone in the world.I told him that I was sorry, but store rules didn’t allow me to do so.I felt stupid and unkind saying this, but I valued my joB.Just then, another man, standing behind the first, spoke up.If anything, he looked more pitiable.“Charge it to me,” was all he saiD.What I had been feeling was pity.Pity is soft and safe and easy.Compassion, on the otherhand, is caring in action.I thanked the second man but told him that was not allowed either. Then I reached into my pocket and paid for the biscuits myself.I reached into my pocket because these two men had reached into my heart and taught me compassion.解析:故事采用顺叙的叙事方法,主要情节发展如下:One aged gentleman begged me to have the food on trust and promised to repay the next day.---- I told him the store rules didn’t allow me to do so.---- Another man wanted me to charge the food to him.----I paid for the biscuits myself. 作者用第一人称讲述自己亲身经历的这段故事,让人觉得亲切可信,同时也增强了文章的感染力。

For teenagers, many informative resources on the Internet can be used. As a matter of fact, there are educational, music and art websites that are truly helpful to teenagers, because they can help make one's life easier.Education websites are helpful to a teenager in doing school work and searching for a college. It can last anywhere from one to six years, but four years is typical for most. An apprentice spends the majority of the time in a workplace environment learning the practical skills of a career from a journeyman — someone who has done the job for many years. The rest of the apprentice's time is spent in a classroom environment learning the theoretical skills the career requires. Being an apprentice is a full-time undertaking. One of the advantages of apprenticeship is that it does not cost apprentices anything. The companies that hire them pay for school. What's more, it offers apprentices an “earn while you learn” opportunity. They usually start out at half the pay of a journeyman, and the pay increases gradually as they move further along in the job and studies. Near the end of the apprenticeship, their wages are usually 90 percent of what a journeyman would receive. Apprenticeship also pays off for employers. It can offer employers a pool of well-trained workers to draw from.Despite the advantages, apprentices are usually required to work during the day and attend classes at night, which leaves little time for anything else. Sometimes, they might be laid off(下岗) if business for the employers is slow.Once they have completed the apprenticeship and become journeymen, they receive a nationally recognized and portable certification and their pay also increases again. Some journeymen continue employment with the companies they apprenticed with; others go ontodifferent companies or become self-employedcontractors.(衡阳市八中2012届高三第二次月考试卷)An altimeter(测高计)is an instrument used in an airplane to tell the pilot how high he isflying. The altimeter used in most airplanes is a kind of barometer(气压计), which, like barometers found in ordinary homes, is a measuring instrument for air pressure. The weight of the atmosphere presses downwards everywhere. At sea level this pressure is more than 14 pounds on every square inch of the surface. The higher you go into the air, the lower the air pressure is. An altimeter measures this air pressure to show the altitude of the airplane, or, how high it is above sea level. But the altimeter does not show how high the plane is above the ground. A plane might be flying at an altitude of 15, 000 feet, but it would be only a thousand feet or so above the ground if the land in that area happened to be 14, 000 feet above sea level. The pilot adjusts his altimeter to the actual sea-level pressure before setting out from the airport and then corrects it in flight according to new information given to him by radio. He flies high enough to be above any mountain he may pass on his course. The barometer altimeter is correct within about 300 feet.Another kind of altimeter, the radio altimeter, makes use of radio reflections. It calculates the height of the flying plane by sending out electrical signals to the surface below and measuring the time required for them to bounce back(反弹). It is correct within 15 feet over water, but is not reliable over land. Big planes usually have both kinds of altimeter.Title: 1. ____________(4)(12 min.)(师大附中2012届高三月考)What is e-learning? E-learning is essentially the computer and network-enabled transfer of skills and knowledge, whose content is delivered via the Internet, audio or video tape, satellite TV,and CD-ROM.E-learning dates back to the early 1960s when Stanford University psychology professors Patrick Suppes experimented with using computers to teach math. As early as 1997 William D. Graziadei published an article which described developing an overall strategy for technology-based course development and management for an educational system. Today people are using many technologies in e-learning, blogs and virtual classrooms included. There are different types of e-learning that are available. Some educational experts suggest that different types or forms of e-learning can be considered as a continuum, from no e-learning, i.e. no use of computers or the Internet for teaching and learning, through classroom aids, such as making classroom lecture Powerpoint slides available to students and through a course website, to laptop programs, where students are required to bring laptops to class and use them as part of a face-to-face class, to mixed learning, where classroom time is reduced but not eliminated, with more time devoted to online learning, to fully online learning, which is a form of distance education.Due to the effectiveness of e-learning methods, this type of learning methodology is rapidly becoming popular among schools. By 2006, 3.5 million students had participated in learning courses through the Internet at institutions of higher education in the United States. Alien and Seamen claim that almost a quarter of all students in post-secondary education were taking fully online courses in 2008, and a report by Ambient Insight Research suggests that in 2009, 44 per cent of post-secondary students in the USA were taking some or all of their courses online, and some professors predicted that this figure would have been doubled by 2014. Thus it can be seen that e-learning is moving rapidly from the margins to being a predominant form of postsecondary education.E-learning has created a new paradise in education and it has greatly complemented our traditional methods and thus it has brought students a lot of advantages. We expect much more growth in adoptions of it in schools. An 1. ____________ to E-learningⅠ. Definition: Transfer of skills and knowledge 2. ____________ of computer and network, etc.Ⅱ. Many now believe that colors can not only cause emotional reactions, but can also correct mood. Colors behave in three basic ways: active, passive and neutral (中和的).Active colors are warm colors, including yellow, orange and red. These colors bring confidence. Warm colors can also bring cheerful attitudes. Yellows and golden colors work well in offices, kitchens and study areas. Reds heat up a room. Passive colors or cool colors make people calm, quiet and satisfied. Bedrooms, private areas and bathrooms are great places for blues and greens. Beige, gray and white are thought of as neutral colors. They help to put the focus on other colors or serve to tone down (使柔和) colors that might otherwise be overpowering on their own.You can easily change the look or feel of a room by making good use of different colors. Mixing and matching colors is an excellent way to balance color and emotion, and provide a welcoming feel for guests. To create a feeling of warmth and comfort in a room, use bright, warm colors like yellow, orange and red. These colors are good choices for rooms that appear cool due to limited sunlight. Yellow adds cheerfulness to dull rooms. You can add yellows to rooms which are not closely related to happy thoughts, such as kitchens and laundry room. In rooms where there's plenty of sunshine, cool colors can provide a calming environment. Sage greens and sky blues are perfect for bedrooms, playrooms and activity areas. Neutral colors, such as pale gray, white and beige, send a peaceful message to your brain. It's not a coincidence that most doctor's offices, coffee shops and mental health centers are decorated in neutrals. To make your wall color choices better, pick out furniture that will provide a visual contrast. Cool colors make a room seem larger than it is and warm colors make rooms feel smaller.Title: The Connection between 1. ____________(3)(12 min.)(岳阳市一中高三模拟)It's easy to see how the sawfish(锯鳐)got its name. Thesefrightful creatures can grow to be more than 6 meters long. Their bodies are flat and winged, like underwater airplanes. And their noses are shaped like chainsaws.Sawfish are food hunters of the sea. When a sawfish is hungry, it waves its sharptoothed snout (口鼻部) through a group of fish. Then, it lifts its nose and uses its mouth to draw the injured victims.Hardy (适应力强的) population of sawfish thrived in warm waters along coastlines around the world for thousands of years. Over the past 200 years, however, human actions have severely endangered sawfish. Threats include fishing nets that trap the huge animals, often by mistake. Some people collect sawfish's snouts as prizes: One snout recently sold for nearly $1,600 online. In some Asian cultures, the toothy snouts are used in ceremonies to drive evil and disease away. And sawfish are also delicious. A growing demand in Asia for the fish's fins for a pricey (高价的)soup has contributed to the fish's loves. Compared with other fish, sawfish give birth late in life and at slow rates, which makes it hard for them to recover from overfishing.New efforts now aim to restore sawfish population. Beginning next month, an international agreement will provide protection for all seven of the world's sawfish species. Scientists are hoping that it's not too late to save the sawfish.Until 1998, “this fish had never been formally studied in the United States, ” says Tonya Wiley of the Mote Marine Laboratory in Sarasota, FL. “We didn't know such basic things as where the y live, what habitat they use, how often they breed, how many young they have —even what age sawfish are when they begin breeding.”Through historical studies and field research, scientists have become aware of how much the fish's numbers have decreased. Today, there may be 90 percent fewer sawfish than there used to be. Wiley estimates that only 3, 000 to 6, 000 sawfish remain in US waters.Title: Sawfish(4)(10 min.)(第五次月考英语试卷)A migraine headache (偏头疼) can cause disabling pain. People may not feel back to normal for hours or even for days.Migraine headaches are most common among young adults and middleaged people. In the United States, about eighteen percent of women and six percent of men report having migraines.People who suffer from migraines can find that different “triggers” in different people may get a headache started. Stress can act as a trigger. Many migraine sufferers say hot weather and low barometric pressure(低气压)can act as triggers, but researchers say they did not have much scientific evidence of that — until now.In a new study, a team examined the medical records of seven thousand hospital patients. The patients had visited the emergency room at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston,Massachusetts, because of a headache. More than two thousand ofthem had been found to have a migraine. The team then compared those records to weather conditions in the twentyfour hours before the hospita l visits. For every increase of five degrees Celsius in air temperature, the patients had a seven and onehalf percent higher risk of migraine. Decreases in barometric pressure two to three days before the visit also appeared to cause headaches.A separate study has found that age, gender and where a person has extra body fat may affect the risk of migraine. It found that overweight people between the ages of twenty and fiftyfive may have a higher risk. On average, those who were larger around the middle were more likely to have migraines than those of the same age with smaller waistlines(腰围).Experts suggest that losing weight in the stomach area may help younger people who experience migraines, especially women. Doing exercises regularly is also helpful to reducing migraine headaches.Title: 1. __________答案第二十四讲信息的表述(1)本文为说明文。

It can last anywhere from one to six years, but four years istypical for most. An apprentice spends the majority of the time in a workplace environment learning the practical skills of a career from a journeyman — someone who has done the job formany years. The rest of the apprentice's time is spent in a classroom environment learning the theoretical skills the career requires. Being an apprentice is a full-time undertaking. One of the advantages of apprenticeship is that it does not cost apprentices anything. Theyou companies that hire them pay for school. What's more, it offers apprentices an “earn while learn” opportunity. They usually start out at half the pay of a journeyman, and the pay increases gradually as they move further along in the job and studies. Near the end of the apprenticeship, their wages are usually 90 percent of what a journeyman would receive. Apprenticeship also paysoff for employers. It can offer employers a pool of well-trained workers to draw from.Despite the advantages, apprentices are usually required to work during the day and attendclasses at night, which leaves little time for anything else. Sometimes, they might be laid off(下岗)if business for the employers is slow.Once they have completed the apprenticeship and become journeymen, they receive a nationally recognized and portable certification and their pay also increases again. Somejourneymen continue employment with the companies they apprenticed with; others go ontodifferent companies or become self-employedcontractors.(3)(13 min.)(衡阳市八中2018届高三第二次月考试卷)An altimeter(测高计)is an instrument used in an airplane to tell the pilot how high he is flying. An altimeter measures this air pressure to show the altitude of the airplane, or, how high it is abovesea level. But the altimeter does not show how high the plane is above the ground. A plane might be flying at an altitude of 15, 000 feet, but it would be only a thousand feet or so above the ground ifthe land in that area happened to be 14, 000 feet above sea level. The pilot adjusts his altimeter to the actual sea-level pressure before setting out from the airport and then corrects it in flight according to new information given to him by radio. He flieshigh enough to be above any mountain he may pass on his course. ____________2. ____________An instrument used in an airplane to tell the pilot 3. ____________ of the craft.4. ____________5. ____________ The radio altimeterHow it works by 6. ____________ to showthe altitude of the airplane, orthe height above sea levelby giving out 7.____________to the surfacebelow and measuring the timerequired for them to bouncebackHow to8. ____________ adjust it to the actual sea-level pressure before the plane 9.____________.correct it in flight according tonew information./Requirements within 10. ____________ within 15 feet over water(4)(12 min.)(师大附中2018届高三月考)What is e-learning? 专题限时训练(三十)[时闻型阅读理解](限时:25分钟)(一)As Apple tries to maintain its growth and success in China, the world's largest smart phone market is becoming even more critical. Apple's shares(股份) fell sharply as the company's earnings for the holiday quarter through December disappointed investors. The sales of the iPhone, which included both the iPhone 5 and older models, came in at the low end of analysts' expectations, while the company's income plan for the second quarter was below analysts' forecasts, though Apple was known to give conservative (保守的) forecasts. Some analysts have said that for Apple to regain its growth, the company needs a more aggressive strategy for markets, or more specifically for China, where the market for smart phones has been expanding more rapidly than anywhere else. In China, demand is particularly great for inexpensive phones that run on Android(安卓) operating system, sold by many Chinese phone makers as well as Korea's Samsung Electronics Co.But Apple says it's already enjoying strong growth in China. “We saw big growth in iPhones,” Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook said. He said that the company had been quickly expanding its sales channels in China, including the number of Apple stores. “This isn't nearly what we need; we're not even close to that, but we're making great progress,” he said.In China, a big missing piece for Apple is China Mobile Ltd, the biggest local telecom carrier that doesn't yet sell the iPhone. Earlier this month, Mr Cook met China Mobile Chairman Xi Guohua in Beijing and discussed cooperation, stirring hopes that the world's largest mobile carrier may soon start offering the iPhone.Earlier this month, the Wall Street Journal reported that Apple was working on a lowerend iPhone that could launch as early as this year. But one possible challenge for Apple in China is that lowpriced Androidbased phones are getting better in terms of quality. A report from CLSA in late November showed that many smart phones sold at about 1,000 yuan ($160) came with higher-resolution screens, better cameras and more powerful processors than phones at that price did a year earlier.1.Apple's shares dropped sharply because in December________A.the iPhone wasn't popular in ChinaB.its product quality was widely criticizedC.the earnings for the holiday quarter were disappointingD.the investors were not satisfied with Apple's management2.What can we learn from the passage?A.Apple tends to offer a lower sales forecast.B.China Mobile Ltd began to team up with Apple.C.Cook was pessimistic about what Apple did in China.D.Apple didn't take measures to develop Chinese markets.3.The author uses the report from CLSA to prove________.A.their prices are actually lower than a year earlierB.Apple in China has ability to deal with any problemC.lowerend Androidbased phones are progressing fastD.the promotion of lowerend iPhones will face a challenge4.The main purpose of the passage is to show the readers ________.A.Apple's high popularity in ChinaB.the challenge Apple faces in ChinaC.the approaching failure Apple will suffer in ChinaD.Apple's aggressive strategies in its market expansion(二)Experts say the temperature in Eyjafjallajokull's hole appears to have fallen to 100℃,meaning it is now producing steam, not magma(岩浆).But officials warned that it was too early to say whether the eruption was over completely.Ash clouds from the volcano grounded thousands of flights last month.Steinunn Jakobsdottir, a geophysicist from the Icelandic Meteorological Office, told the BBC that the volcano was “kind of not active for the moment”.“The history of the volcano is such that it calms down and then it gets energy again,” she said.“There are still earthquakes under the volcano, and the small earthquake is still not quite down to what it was before the eruption.”Magnus Gudmundsson, of Iceland University, flew over the volcano on Sunday and said information from heat cameras showed the temperatures at the crater had fallen-below 100℃.But he told the AFP news agency that nothing was promised and that the previous eruption at the volcano had lasted 13 months, from 1821—1823.“It stopped and started again several times with different intervals(间隔), so it's difficult to say, difficult to give a timeline,” he said.He also said it was impossible to say whether the neighbouring Katla Volcano—a much larger mountain—might also erupt. At the height of its activity, the volcano sent out huge clouds of ash, which led to airlines grounding their planes for fear it could interfere with plane engines. It was the biggest action of closing airspace in Europe since World War Ⅱ,and affected at least 10 million passengers worldwide.1.What do experts think Eyjafjallajokull is like now?A.Magma is still coming out.B.The hole appears about 100℃.C.The eruption was not over.D.It is very cold.2.How do experts know the temperature in Eyjafjallajokull's hole?A.By taking photos.B.By taking its temperature.C.By going close to it.D.By driving past it.3.What does Steinunn Jakobsdottir think of Eyjafjallajokull?A.It will erupt again soon.B.It will be sleeping.C.Another mountain might also erupt.D.It's uncertain.4.What do you think the main idea is?A.The biggest action of closing airspace in Europe.B.The temperature in Eyjafjallajokull's hole.C.The Eyjafjallajokull volcano in Iceland.D.The earthquake in Iceland.(三)BEIJING—China's Beijing and Shanghai cities and Guangdong Province on Sunday published plans to gradually allow migrant workers' children to enter senior high schools and sit college entrance exams locally. They are the latest in a total of 13 provinces and municipalities(市) to formulate plans to ensure that rural children who have followed their parents to cities can enjoy the same rights as their urban peers in education.Beijing will allow migrant workers' children to attend local vocational schools in 2013 and allow them to be matriculated by universities after graduating from the vocational programs in 2014, said a statement from the city's commission of education.Shanghai took a step further, saying it will allow migrant children in the city to enter local senior high schools, vocational schools and sit college entrance exams (commonly known as gaokao) locally starting in 2014.Guangdong has asked its cities to start recruiting(招收) migrant workers' children in local senior high schools in 2013. The province will allow these children to sit gaokao and compete with local residents in college entrance exams starting in 2016. Luo Weiqi said the restrictions would be relaxed gradually and “step by step” as the province must solve the conflict between its gigantic migrant population and a scarcity of education resources.Migrant workers, whose children could be benefited by the new plans of the three regions, must have residential permits, stable jobs and incomes, and meet other local requirements, according to the plans.China's hukou, or household registration system, used to confine children to attending schools in their home provinces. A regulation in 2003 amended this by allowing migrant workers' children to receive the nine-year compulsory education in cities where their parents worked.Official figures show that China has more than 250 million farmersturnedworkers living in cities. Elearning is essentially the computer and networkenabled transfer of skills and knowledge, whose content is delivered via the Internet, audio or video tape, satellite TV, and CDROM.Elearning dates back to the early 1960s when Stanford University psychology professors Patrick Suppes experimented with using computers to teach math. As early as 1997 William D. Graziadei published an article which described developing an overall strategy for technologybased course development and management for an educational system. Today people are using many technologies in elearning, blogs and virtual classrooms included.Th ere are different types of elearning that are available. Some educational experts suggest that different types or forms of elearning can be considered as a continuum, from no elearning, i.e. no use of computers or the Internet for teaching and learning, through classroom aids, such as making classroom lecture Powerpoint slides available to students and through a course website, to laptop programs, where students are required to bring laptops to class and use them as part of a facetoface class, to mixed learning, where classroom time is reduced but not eliminated, with more time devoted to online learning, to fully online learning, which is a form of distance education.Due to the effectiveness of elearning methods, this type of learning methodology is rapidly becoming popular among schools. By 2006, 3.5 million students had participated in learning courses through the Internet at institutions of higher education in the United States. Alien and Seamen claim that almost a quarter of all students in postsecondary education were taking fully online courses in 2008, and a report by Ambient Insight Research suggests that in 2009, 44 per cent of postsecondary students in the USA were taking some or all of their courses online, and some professors predicted that this figure would have been doubled by 2014. Thus it can be seen that elearning is moving rapidly from the margins to being a predominant form of postsecondary education.Elearning has created a new paradise in education and it has greatly complement ed our traditional methods and thus it has brought students a lot of advantages. We expect much more growth in adoptions of it in schools. An 1. ____________to ElearningⅠ. Definition: Transfer of skills and knowledge 2. ____________ of computer and network, etc.Ⅱ.
