2018-2019学年江西省江西师大附中、九江一中高三11月联考英语试卷

2018-2019学年江西省江西师大附中、九江一中高三11月联考英语试卷一、阅读理解1.Some of the cinema’s most artistic work never gets released in ordinary movie theaters. A film may receive top honors at film festivals, but that’s no guarantee that it will reach the general public. Here are three of them.Beast of No Nation (US) by Cary Joji Fukunaga“Hard to watch, impossible to forget.” That’s how the Rolling Stone summed up the story. Beast of No Nation is set in an unnamed African country where Agu, a 9-year-old boy, lives a joyful and carefree life. But everything changes when he sees his family killed by army troops. Also Agu is trained to be a killing machine, but all the while, he dreams of avenging(为…….报仇)his family. But Beast of No Nation is not just Agu’s story. It’s also grounded in harsh reality. “Loss of innocence is entirely real for hundreds of thousands of other children across the globe,” says IGN.Carol (US) by Todd HaynesAccording to Variety, the charm of the film largely lies in the excellent acting. Carol earned actress Rooney Mara a Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival.Though Carol’s story took place over a half-century ago, the film touches modern issues and appeals to a wide audience. “Carol appreciates all the people who, in defiance of(无视)their times, chose to live true lives, accepting the potential consequences as the cost of quite simple freedom,” wrote Vanity Fair.Victoria (Germany) by Sebastian SchipperhasThe “long take” has always been an obsession among filmmakers. And in his new film Victoria, German director Sebastian Schipperhas took this idea to a new level. His two-hour-20-minute movie was filmed in one single shot. The film follows Victoria(Laia Costa), a young woman from Madrid, as she has a life-altering morning. She meets a group of men in a dance club but later finds herself involvedin an armed robbery. The production was tough for Victoria’s cast and crew. Victoria was shot in real time—from 4:30 am onward—in 22 locations on Berlin’s streets. On top of that, all the dialogue was improvised(即兴发挥). No mistakes were allowed.By filming the movie in one single shot, Schipperhas makes the viewers a part of the story. As the film’s introduction reads, “This film is not a movie; it’s not about a bank robbery. It is bank robbery.”(1)What can we learn about Beast of No Nation from the passage?A.The story happens in a famous African country.B.It is a story about the Rolling Stone.C.The theme is about children’s loss of innocence.D.It is only about Agu’s joyful and carefree life.(2)According to the passage, what is true about Victoria?A.It was filmed in many shots.B.It was a challenge for Victoria’s team.C.It lasts less than two hours.D.It was the first to use “long take”.(3)What do all the films mentioned have in common?A.They are directed by American directors.B.They are considered ordinary in theaters.C.They are first released in public theaters.D.They are spoken highly of at film festivals.【答案】CBD【考点】说明文阅读推理判断高三细节理解【解析】本文是一篇说明文。

First of all, as a name is of great importance to a person, "梅"shares the same pronunciation with your English name. What’s more, "梅", in the Chinese culture, is a kind of flower that can blossom in cold winter, thus symbolizing noble character, I guess you will admire it too. Besides, if you don’t mind, you can use my family name "李". I would be glad if you like this name.
Looking forward to our team the game!

But the buse s were all full and I had to take a taxi.M: I’m late too. There was something wrong with the underground and I was stuck there for half an hour.Text 2W: Why don’t you wear that yellow shirt that your sister gave you for your birthday?M: I love that shirt very much, but it’s missing two buttons.W: What a pity!Text 3W: Cindy is always sending text messages in class! We don’t want to confuse everyone by focusing on too many details.M: Don’t worry. We don’t need to use all of the data for the presentation. It’s for us to analyze, and then determine what we need and what we don’t.Text 5W: Jack, mom told me to tell you that you shouldn’t go to the party tomorrow night.M: You’ve got to be kidding me. I’m 22 years old.W: Linda’s coming tomorrow. Don’t you think you should spend some time with her?M: Really? That’s great. I miss her.Text 6M: Did you arrange everything for Friday’s trip?W: Yes. The bus is picking us up here at 8:00 am, and we’ll be in the museum around 9:00. With the museum and bus fare, each student will have to pay 10 dollars.M: And what about lunch?W: We’re going to have a picnic lunch in Banford Park, which I’m really looking forward to—the flowers are beautiful this time of year. I will give you a list later.M: By the way, I guess we have alcohol at home, which we bought last month, remember?W: Oh, yes, so we don’t have to buy it now.M: As for cloth, do you really need it?W: Yes, it’s used to clean the screen of the computer and mirror, of course. Whe re in California?M: Well, my part-time job is at Google, which is in Mountain View… although it would be more fun to live in San Francisco or San Jose…W: That’s true. But then you’d have to take the train to work.M: I know. I don’t like that, you know. So, I’ll end up living as close to Google as possible.W: Mountain View isn’t bad. My cousin lived there when he was attending Stanford, which is in next town over. You can always take the train to the city on weekends.M: True. Hey, you should come visit me. I can show you around Silicon Valley.W: That sounds great, but I’m actually going to spend the summer in Paris. My grandma has an apartment there.M: Cool! Are you going to work while you’re there?W: Nope. I’ve been saving money all year from my job at the café. So, now I’m free to spend the whole summer in museums. I’d also like to take a cooking class, but I won’t have time for it. M: Sounds awesome. Now I wish I could come visit you!Text 10M: My name’s Bob, and I’ve come to tell you about the Yor k Dance Band. Now, if you want to have a good family party, like a wedding or an important birthday, and you want all your guests to dance after dinner, then don’t book a noisy disco. Have a live band instead. We play all kinds of dance music, including songs that every age group, from teenagers to grandmothers, can dance to.The band is made up of all sorts of different people — none of us full-time musicians. We have a doctor, two English teachers, a retired journalist and the band leader owns a hotel. The band has been together for ten years, but I only joined this year. Now the number has been increased from eight to twelve. I was looking for a band to join, and a friend of mine saw an advertisement in the local paper and persuaded me to apply. Before I joined, the band didn’t have a separate singer, but they realized they needed one. They chose me because I’ve always enjoyed getting up and singing in front of an audience, and people say I’ve got a good voice. I’ve been in bands before. I even played the guitar rather badly in one, but this band is easily the best. I even enjoy the practices. Now, I’ll just play a little…。

Colorado Springs.BJune Haimoff narrowly avoided stepping on a loggerhead turtle on Turkey's southern coast more than 30 years ago. This experience changed her life and the future of the beach she was wandering along.Already attracted by the 4km stretch of sand, which forms a natural barrier between the Mediterranean Sea and the freshwater entries of the Dalyan River, she set up home there in the 1980s and soon fell in love with the turtles.Three decades later the 95-year-old Englishwoman still has a small house overlooking Iztuzu beach, which she has campaigned to protect from developers and to preserve as a natural environment where the threatened turtles can produce their young."When I first saw a sea turtle breeding, I watched without moving. I remember tears in my eyes," she says. "From that day I started to collect any kind of information about them that I could."In 1987, Haimoff and a group of friends fought successfully to block a hotelconstruction project which would have endangered the turtles' breeding ground on the beach.Since then the beach has remained under protection. All construction is banned as well as artificial lighting at night, when holidaymakers are kept away and the turtles come ashore to lay their eggs. After its conservation success, Iztuzu also became a regional focus for turtles, with the establishment 10 years ago of the Sea Turtle Rescue Centre, which treats injured turtles from beaches across Turkey.Haimoff, fondly known as "Captain June" because of her love of the sea, teaches visitors about those threats to the turtles, and trains her young students in environmental preservation. "I'm a woman in love with the turtles," she says.24. How does Haimoff help the turtles?A. By developing the economy of the area.B. By teaching people about the threats to turtles.C. By collecting turtles eggs along the coast.D. By providing artificial light in the evening.25. Which of the following can best explain the underlined word "breeding" in paragraph 4?A. Dying.B. Wondering.C. Giving birth.D. Making homes.26. Which of the following can best describe June Haimoff according to the text?A. Brave and tough.B. Thoughtful and determined.C. Caring and enthusiastic.D. Well-known and well-learnt.27. What can be a suitable title for the text?A. Iztuzu beach — in danger of disappearingB. Iztuzu beach — perfect birthplace of turtlesC. Captain June — a great teacher at an old ageD. Captain June — a kind protector of the turtlesCKoko the gorilla knew over 1,000 signs based on American Sign Language, and used them to do everything from asking for food to joking around. Her trainer, PennyPatterson, thought Koko went further still, signing in novel ways and showing complex emotions. According to Ms. Patterson, when a cat that Koko loved was killed in an accident, Koko signed: "Cat, cry, have-sorry, Koko-love." When Koko died last month, some of her obituaries(讣告) mourned the gorilla who had "mastered American sign language".Then came the critics, from linguists and experts in sign languages. There is no doubt that animals communicate. Bees can demonstrate the direction and distance of a source of food. Dolphins make noises that function like names. Yet there is an important distinction between communication and language.Take the misleading term "body language". It is sometimes claimed that words convey just 7% of meaning, and that body language and tone of voice do the rest. But try conveying a fact like "It will rain on Tuesday" with your eyebrows, and the difference becomes clear. Language allows for clear statements, questions and commands.Noam Chomsky has argued that people have a kind of "universal grammar", and that all humankind's languages are mere variations(变奏曲) on a theme. He has changed his mind repeatedly on what makes up the essential of human language, but one obvious candidate is syntax—rules, not just words, which allow the construction of a huge variety of meaningful expressions. No language in the world merely uses relevant signs together like communications at the tourist-abroad level of pointing and making exaggerated facial expressions. That gorillas lack syntax should not blind humans to their magnificence. But the fact that Koko could communicate should not mislead observers into thinking she possessed language.28. What does the author intend to do in paragraph 1?A. Describe an amazing animal.B. Introduce the topic of the text.C. Inform people of Koko's death.D. Show Ms. Patterson's technique.29. What can we infer about language according to the text?A. Body language actually can't be taken as language.B. It consists of words and body language and syntax.C. It's a power that both humans and animals possess.D. Facial expressions allow for clear statements and commands.30. Which of the following can best convey "It will rain on Tuesday"?A. Pointing.B. Eyebrow movements.C. Dialect.D. Facial expressions.31. What is the main idea of the text?A. Noam Chomsky is a brilliant master of human language.B. Rules play an essential part in human communication.C. Human language is different from mere communication.D. Koko's extraordinary skills deserve people's recognition.DAnyone who has spent an afternoon puzzling over IKEA(宜家) furniture parts will appreciate how impressive it would be to let a robot do the job. Engineers at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore have now assembled(安装) a STEFAN chair using a new invention, a two-armed robot, whose sensors andprogramming enabled it to fit most of the pieces together without human help. The team reported this in April in Science Robotics. Using its arms, sensors and 3-D camera, the machine followed about 50 steps of instructions to complete the chair's frame in about 20 minutes.Furthermore, the robot was made of off-the-shelf parts that "are already mass-produced, so the technology we developed here can be adopted in actual factories in the very near future," says QuangCuong Pham, an assistant professor, who built the robot with Francisco Suárez-Ruiz and Xian Zhou, both then at Nanyang. The engineers programmed the robot using conventional computer code instead of training the device to assemble parts via machine learning. They focused on the robot's sense, planning and control capabilities rather than the more abstract reasoning enabled by artificial intelligence, Pham says. The robot's arm movements may look slow and boring, but its ability to fit pegs(销钉) into holes addresses "a super hard problem in robotics," says Ross Knepper, an assistant computer science professor at Cornell University, who was not involved in the Nanyang research. He was part of a Massachusetts Institute of Technology team that in 2013 built the "IKeaBot" system of autonomous robots, which successfully assembled the furniture company's LACK side tables."Whereas my work used vision to solve the peg-in-a-hole problem, the Nanyangresearchers are doing it through tactile(触觉) feedback-feeling whether or not the peg went into the hole," Knepper says. "The applications (of these two approaches) are both for IKEA furniture, but the contributions to robotics are very different. The Nanyang team's technology is meant to be reprogrammable for different tasks, including possibly assembling other kinds of furniture. "The dream," Knepper says, "is still to have one robot system that can assemble IKEA's entire catalog — but we're not there yet."32.What does the author think of the new invention?A. Boring.B. Helpful.C. Super hard.D. Successful.33. What do we know about Knepper?A. He thought highly of the newly built two-armed robot.B. He addressed a super hard problem in robotics in 2013.C. He thought the robot's arm movements flexible but boring.D. He built the "IKeaBot" that assembled a STEFAN chair.34. How did Nanyang researchers solve the peg-in-a-hole problem?A. Through visual sense.B. Through many senses.C. Through slow movements.D. Through their feedback-feeling.35. What does the last sentence of the passage suggest?A. We still need one robot system.B. The dream will come true soon.C. More work need to be done later.D. IKEA's entire catalog is too large.第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。
