Triac dimmer调光LED灯泡会闪烁,Why?
在我们的MB39C601-EVBSK-02中,图A电路就是这个额外的电路。作用是提 供泄放电流回路。图B显示当Iled逐渐减小并要低于Ihold时,Iaugment逐渐增 加,始终保持(Iled+Iaugment)> Ihold ,这样TRIAC就始终导通。 当客户投诉LED会闪烁时,绝大多数情况是(Iled+Iaugment)< Ihold ,(如图A) 这时我们可以修改电阻值:把R7的阻值调小些,让Iaugment变大;升高V+电 压让Q1提前导通泄放电流。这样LED闪烁将会消失。 MB39C601-EVBSK-02电路详细说明请参照Evaluation board Manual (MB39C601-EVBSK-02)文档P10-P14。

Moreover,the experimental results from the prototype are presented to verify the theoretical analysis.1IntroductionWith the rapid development in high-brightness light emitting diode(LED)technologies,both the performance and the cost of phosphor converted white LEDs have improved significantly.Thus,LED lighting system becomes a promising alternative as a substitute of energy-inefficient incandescent lamps andfluorescent lamps,whereas has an incredibly long life with very low maintenance requirement[1].The most convenient way to use LED lighting is to replace the existing lightingfixtures directly to save the cost and avoid wastes[2,3].However,there are still a lot of new issues during this direct replacement.The most important one is related to the dimming.The dimming system has remarkable benefits such as energy saving,visual comfort and even better productivity at work place[4,5].Actually,the most part of domestic and architectural dimming systems are based on TRIAC (phase-cut)dimmers.The incandescent bulb works very well with the TRIAC dimmer in the dimming system because it is pure resistive and can provide sufficient holding current for the TRIAC dimmer after the dimmer is triggered[6].However,LED lamps are totally different from purely resistive,which makes a considerable difference in the way the dimmer works[4,5].Special design efforts are necessary to make the LED drivers be compatible with TRIAC dimmer.It is absolutely true to build entirely new type of dimmer or dimming system for emerging LED lighting if the acceptance of LED lighting increased to a certain percentage or new designed application[5,7,8].In current stage,it will require considerable infrastructure change,rewiring the lighting system and replacing the present TRIAC dimmer. Thus,it is still important to design the LED driver compatible with TRIAC dimmers[3].Generally,in order to be compatible with the TRIAC dimmer,it is better to make the input characteristic of the LED driver similar to the incandescent lamp.Therefore the input current needs to follow the input voltage like a resistor even at dimming condition.The power factor correction(PFC)technique is a simple way to achieve such input characteristic.Also,for lighting equipment above25 W,the low-frequency harmonic must comply with EN 61000-3-2,Class C regulation.In addition,the energy star requirement for solid-state lighting luminaires is PF>0.7 for residential and PF>0.9for commercial[9].Therefore the power factor correction is necessary for the LED drivers [10–16].Furthermore,for safety requirement,the output of the LED driver usually is galvanic isolated.The TRIAC dimming signal is usually detected in the transformer primary side, whereas the output current is sensed in the secondary side. Extra galvanic isolation circuit is required to implement the dimming function and output current regulation,which will further complicate the whole circuit.The conventional two-stage method with a front-end PFC is too costly and complex for low-power LED driver application.A lot of PFC techniques with single switch for LED driver application were proposed[10–14].In[10],thesingle-stage Flyback PFC operated in boundary mode or discontinuous mode(DCM)can achieve high-power factor and simplify the whole circuit.In[12],a buck-Flyback topology is proposed.It is suitable for PWM dimming application.In[13],a dual buck–boost topology with single switch was proposed to achieve high-power factor.In[14], a buck–boost PFC integrated with Flyback converter is proposed with leakage inductance energy recycling,the efficiency is improved.However,all of them need isolated feedback circuit for output current control,which is complex and the opto-isolator in the feedback loop also affects the output performance because of the current transfer ratio degradation caused by the temperature rise. Moreover,the TRIAC dimming capability is still not discussed.In order to further simplify the circuit to reduce the cost and size,the primary side control scheme without the isolated feedback circuit is quite attractive.Many primary side control schemes have been proposed for Flyback topology [17–23].Most of them are only suitable for DCM operation with relatively stable DC input and poor accuracy,and the primary side peak current is usuallyfixed in order to achieve constant output current[17–23].Therefore it is not able to achieve high-power factor at the same time,which makes them not suitable for TRIAC dimming application directly.In[4],a non-isolated LED driver suitable TRIAC dimming was introduced.A capacitor network was added to increase the holding current to make TRIAC on during the line cycle,thus theflicker problem can be avoided.However,it still needs output current feedback and extra circuit to detect TRIAC dimming angle.A TRIAC dimmable ballast forfluorescent lamp was proposed in[24].The dimming angle is used to control the PFC stage DC output voltage using a complex power equalisation circuit.It also needs DC output voltage feedback to control the output power.In[6],a primary side feedforward control method for Flyback PFC converter in critical discontinuous mode (CRM)was proposed for TRIAC dimmable LED driver application.The calculation equation is a little bit complex.A primary side control scheme based on switch peak current detection was proposed in[25].The output current accuracy will be affected by the internal delay time and input voltage[23,26].Most industry solution for TRIAC compatible LED driver usually suffers from low efficiency(dummy load required for firing angle detection and TRIAC holding current),complexstructure with isolated feedback circuit or high cost with two-stage power conversion,such as UCC28810from TI, LM3445from National Semiconductor,SSL2101from NXP and iW3610from iWatt[27].To overcome the issues mentioned above,this paper proposes a new primary side feedforward control scheme for LED driver based on Flyback topology.The features of the proposed control scheme are summarised as follows:(i)The Flyback converter operates in constant frequency (CF)DCM condition;therefore the input current automatically follows the input voltage even at dimming condition.The input characteristic of the LED driver is resistive and no dummy load is required to provide the TRIAC withhold current.Under no dimming condition, high-power factor can be achieved.(ii)With the proposed primary side feedforward control scheme,the input power can be controlled by TRIAC dimming angle and it is not affected by AC input voltage variation.Therefore the output power can be determined with a given conversion efficiency.For LED load,since the voltage drop is almost constant,the output current is determined by the output power,and no secondary side feedback circuit is required, which dramatically simplifies the whole circuit.The detailed principle of operation and design considerations will be illustrated in Sections2and3.The effect of output voltage variation existed in the real application is also discussed in this paper.The related compensation method is also proposed to further improve the performance.Section4will present the detailed experimental results from a15W prototype with 27V/0.5A output.2Principal of operationThe Flyback PFC converter with proposed feedforward control scheme for TRIAC dimming application is shown in Fig.1a.The circuit diagram of the proposed feedforward control scheme is shown in Fig.1b.As shown in Fig.1,v d(t)is the rectified input voltage,and v ac(t)is the sensed input voltage signal for input voltage feedforward and TRIAC dimming angle detection.The V ff signal is the input voltage feedforward signal,which is determined by the AC input voltage amplitude and the TRIAC dimming angle.V dim is the detected TRIAC dimming signal.V gs is the gate drive signal for the primary side switch.V a is the voltage of the transformer auxiliary winding N a,which can be used to detect the secondary side output voltage and compensate the output current when the output voltage differs from its nominal value.As shown in Fig.1b,K vo is the output voltage compensation factor, which will be discussed later.The steady-state operation waveforms are shown in Fig.2. During the TRIAC on time,when the primary side switch Q1 is on,the transformer magnetising current i p increases linearly.The switch on time T on_p is determined by the control voltage V ctrl(t)generated by the multiplier as shown in Fig.1b.The switch on time is constant in a line cycle, which means the peak magnetising current i p follows the input voltage.When Q1turns off,the magnetising current is transferred to the secondary side.The secondary side diode D r turns on and the magnetising current decreases linearly. power given in(9)can be changed bydimming angle continuously as shown in Fig.4b,therelationship between the output current and dimming angle θshould be further analysed since the brightness of the LED lamp is directly determined by its current.For LEDload,the output current is determined by the input powerwith a given conversion efficiency,which can also becontrolled by the dimming angle as given in(11)I o=P in hV o(11)where V o is the output voltage andηis the conversion efficiency.From(11),the output current is inverse proportional to the output voltage with a given input power and conversion efficiency.Although the forward voltage drop of LED load is almost constant,they still have slight tolerance.Therefore the output current will be different even with the same LED driver if the output voltage is different.However,the brightness of LED is directly related to its forward current. It is better to keep the output current constant,whereas the output voltage varies.To compensate the output voltage tolerance,an extra voltage compensation factor can be used to adjust the input power based on the actual output voltage. The output voltage compensation factor K vo given in(14)is too complex for calculation and circuit implementation.Since the output voltage variation range is limited,the expression can be simply expressed by Taylor series as given in(16). With±30%output voltage variation,the difference is less than1.5%,which is acceptable in practical applicationK vo=0.5×1+k v2V o/V REF2(16)Based on the analysis given above,the proposed control scheme can control the input power of the LED driver based on the TRIAC dimming angle,which means the output power can also be controlled with a given conversion efficiency.Since the LED load has almost constant voltage drop,the output current can be controlled by this indirect method.Considering the load voltage tolerance and dynamic resistance of LED load,the output voltage may not always keep constant;a voltage compensation method given above can improve the output current regulation performance of proposed method. Although it is better for the LED driver to control the output current directly to achieve a current source behaviour,but the primary side output current control scheme also has some drawbacks as discussed in Section 1.The proposed primary side constant power control scheme is also a good try for such application.3Design consideration and accuracy analysisThe design of a CF DCM Flyback PFC converter is similar to design a conventional Flyback converter.The transformer turns ratio is usually designed based on the semi-conductor device voltage rating.In addition,the inductance is designed the proposed feedfroward control scheme,the duty cycle is determined by the input feedforward voltage V ff and TRIAC dimming signal V dim .As discussed above,the duty cycle increases with θbecause the feedforward voltage V ff drops much faster than the dimming signal V dim .In order to guarantee the Flyback converter in DCM operation,the maximum duty cycle should be limited.The theoretical maximum duty cycle for DCM operation can be expressed asD max =p −u k v V p (1+cos u )V REF V M ≤NV oV p sin u +NV o(17)where N is the transformer turns ratio.From (17),when the dimming angle θincreases to a certain value,the converter will be operated in CCM mode.The critical dimming angle can be derived based on (17),but the theoretical expression is a transcendental equation.We can calculate the value of critical dimming angle from the intersection of two curves of the right and left expressions in inequality (17)at different input voltage.To simply the description and understanding,a LED driver with 27V/0.5A output and 180–265V is used as example.The transformer turns ratio is 3and the magnetising inductance is 1mH.The switching frequency is 50kHz.Fig.6shows the critical dimming angle at different AC input voltage.At critical point,the left expression and right expression in (17)are equal.From Fig.6,this critical dimming angle is small at low input condition,which is reasonable since the duty cycle at low input is usually larger.In order to guarantee DCM operation in whole AC input range,the critical dimming angle should be determined at minimum AC input.Then,the maximum duty cycle D max can be derived based on (17)to prevent CCM operation with even larger dimming angle.This D max should be programmed in the control circuit.Although the proposed control does not need secondary side feedback signals,necessary protections for the output side can also be implemented in the primary side for reliable operation,such as output open-and short-circuit protections.The output voltage can be sensed from the auxiliary winding voltage signal V a which is proportional tooutput voltage as analysed in Section 2.The output short-circuit or open-circuit protection can be easily implemented by the sensed auxiliary winding voltage.If the sensed voltage is below certain threshold,the circuit is shut down for short-circuit protection.If the sensed voltage is high above anther threshold,the circuit is also turned off for open-circuit protection.4Experimental resultsTo verify the proposed feedforward control scheme,a LED driver with 27V/0.5A output and 180–265V AC input for TRIAC dimming application is built and tested in the laboratory.Since there is no dedicated IC for the proposed feedforward control scheme,a digital platform using S12XS12816-bit microcontroller (MCU)from Freescale [28]is used to implement the proposed control scheme,which is flexible and simple for veri fication purpose.Although the MCU has quite a lot of pins,it does not mean that the proposed control scheme must use such a complex MCU.The authors have this MCU platform on hand to evaluate the new control scheme.Even the analogue circuit can be used to implement the proposed feedforward control scheme,as shown in Fig.1b.Fig.6Critical dimming angle for DCMoperationFig.7Prototype circuit diagramThe circuit diagram of the prototype is shown in Fig.7.The input voltage feedforward signal V ff,dimming signal V dim and the output voltage compensation signal are connected to the A/D inputs of the MCU.Then the duty cycle is calculated based on(13),which is used to control the primary side switch.As shown in Fig.7,capacitor C in is a smallfilm capacitor used tofilter out the switching frequency current ripple.The capacitance of C in should be minimised to achieve high-power factor and limit the inrush current when the TRIAC is on.The input EMIfilter is used to suppress the common mode and differential mode noise.In order to avoid potential parasitic ring when TRIAC suddenly turns on,a damping circuit is also inserted to damp the parasitic ring.The key parameters of the prototype are given in Table1.Fig.8shows the rectified input voltage v d(t)and input current i in at different dimming angles.It is clear that the input current follows the input voltage and the input characteristic of the converter is resistive.Owing to the limited charge time of the RC circuit inside the TRIAC dimmer,the achievable maximum and minimum dimming angle are limited.The minimum dimming angle(maximum output)is around30°and the maximum dimming angle is around150°.Fig.9shows the experimental results of the prototype. Fig.9a shows the input power P in against input voltage at no dimming condition.From Fig.9a,it is clear that the input power is almost constant with the proposed primary side feedforward control scheme.The input power variation is around2.5%in the whole input range.The output current I o against input voltage at no dimming condition is shown in Fig.9b.The output current variation is similar to input power,they have the same shape and the maximum variation is around2.3%.The efficiency of the converter at different dimming conditions is given in Fig.9c.The conversion efficiency is almost constant at different input voltages;the maximum efficiency variation is below0.5% at no dimming condition,which means the output current is almost determined by the input power at different input voltage.Fig.9d shows the power factor(PF)against AC input voltage at no dimming condition.The power factor is well above0.95in the entire input range.Fig.9e shows the measured input current harmonics compared with the IEC 6100-3-2Class C limitation.Since the Flyback converter is operated in CF DCM mode,the input current automatically follow the input voltage.The distortion is very small. Fig.9f shows the dimming curve at different input voltage. For comparison,the theoretical dimming curve at AC220V input is also shown in Fig.9f.It is clear that the measured dimming curve matches the theoretical one quitewell.
