教学实施过程:
1. Have students work in groups and choose the “for” or “against” side
of the debate about bringing mobile phones to school.
2. Have students work in groups and collect information to support their point
of view.
3. Have students brainstorm as a class about the advantages and disadvantages
of bringing mobile phones to school by filling in the following table.
Advantages:Mobile phones can be used to
● contact their parents or others, especially in emergencies ...
● seek help when in trouble
● search for information on the Internet
● use some apps to help with academic studies
● take online courses which are not offered at school
● keep a record of useful information related to studying by photographing
or video and audio recording
● publicize some meaningful projects
Disadvantages:Mobile phones may 批注● cause them to check for new messages frequently even during lessons
● make them lose concentration on their studies and miss important points
● put them at the risk of being exposed to online violence, inappropriate
websites and false information
● encourage them to become mobile phone addicts
● reduce face-to-face communication with their peers and teachers, damaging
their relationships
4. Have students go through part B on page 41 and decide which roles they
will play in groups.
5. Have students practise using the expressions for introducing arguments
and arguing against previous opposition speakers.
6. Have one group from the “for” side and another group from the “against”
side come forward and debate on whether students should be allowed to bring
mobile phones to school.
7. Have students vote on which side supported their argument the best.
8. Have more groups from both sides come to have the debate.
9. Have students vote on the group who supported the argument the best.
10. Have students listen to the teacher’s comments on the performance of
each group.
11. Have students write an essay after class on whether students should be
allowed to bring mobile phones to school. They can use the information from
the debate.
