雾都孤儿英文读后感作文雾都孤儿这本世界名著叙述了一个动人的故事。

下面是我给大家带来的雾都孤儿作文,欢迎大家阅读参考,我们一起来看看吧!雾都孤儿作文1How can such a little boy who had already suffered oppressive affliction remain pure in body and mind? The reason is the nature of goodness。

I think it is the most important information implied in the novel by Dickens-he believed that goodness could conquer every difficulty。

Although I don’t think goodness is omnipotent, yet I do believe that those who are kind-hearted live more happily than those who are evil-minded。

For me,the nature of goodness is one of the most necessary character for a person。

Goodness is to humans what water is to fish。

He who is without goodness is an utterly worthless person。

On the contrary,as the famous saying goes,The fragrance always stays in the hand that gives the rose’,he who is with goodness undoubtedly is a happy and useful person。

《雾都孤儿》英文版读后感 400字1Oliver Twist is a very famous novel written by Dickens, a famous British writer.Oliver, an orphan, grew up in a poorhouse and has been discriminated against. He escaped to London because he could not bear to be abused. He went into a den of thieves by mistake and was scolded and beaten. I dont know how much he suffered in the process of growing up. Although growing up in such an environment, he has a kind heart. No matter how much he suffers, his determination to do bad things is the biggest. He is blessed and will never forget to thank his benefactor. But the people in the bandit group still did not let him go, and his half brother also wanted to kill him. Olivers fate is tragic, but he was helped by good people to find out his life experience and obtain the heritage. Finally, his fate has been changed and he is expected to become a useful person to the society. We should also learn from the kind-hearted Brownlow, who helped Oliver with his helping hand. Because of his kindness, Oliver Twist was saved. He made the world lose a bad man and a good man, and kept Oliver away from the dirty world. In a word, the whole novel is full of twists and turns, which makes people sigh for Oliver Twists life experience, angry for the mean man, moved by the kind Brownlow, and happy for Oliversrebirth. Since its publication more than 100 years ago, Oliver Twist has become a classic work loved by readers all over the world, and I am no exception. Because of this novel, I also began to know Dickens. His novel mainly reflects the bottom life of the British society, which has just passed the poverty relief law. 《雾都孤儿》英文版读后感 400字2First of all, Im sorry that I havent read Dickenss novel. Ive read a tale of two cities. Its also a compressed version. I dont remember it. It is found that the biggest failure of middle school education is to pour the titles of these masterpieces to the students, but not to give them the possibility of reading. Over time, a lot of names and authors have been recorded, but none of the books have been read, and the interest of reading has been reduced. Of course, it has something to do with the students laziness. I am a very lazy person, and I dont like reading foreign novels very much. I always feel that the translated things are wrong again, distortion is the second, and mixed with the translators personal thoughts. This movie reminds me of a long time ago, probably in high school, watching "les miserables", are very realistic works. The tone of the movie is gray, the most common color, but it will never make people feel tired. Just like the most simple green brick and grey wall in ancient gardens, it cant compare with the red paint gate, but now we can see only the green brick and grey wall, and the red paint gate cant stand the time. One of the important reasons why I dont like reading foreign novels is that I cant remember the names of the characters, such as tonights Oliver Twist. Read "Oliver Twist", let me be the hero of this book - Oliver. At the same time, he felt disgust and regret for the street criminals in London in the 1830s. Oliver. Tweesterwas born in a workhouse. Poor boy was orphaned at birth. He was thrown into a world full of poverty and crime, starved, beaten and scolded, and no one ever loved him.《雾都孤儿》英文版读后感 400字3Orphans are children who have no parents, so they live in orphanages. Today, lets take a look at a book about orphans - Oliver Twist. The protagonist of this book is a poor orphan. His name is Oliver. His mother died as soon as he was born, so he was taken to the orphanage. But that orphanage is not a good place, because the director there is very bad to the orphans, the orphans hate him. The supervisor also apprenticed Olivier to the coffin shop. In the coffin shop, olifi was abused, so he fled to London. As a result, he was brought into the den by the thief "smart ghost" and was forced to embark on the ship. Fortunately, with the help of Mr. Brownlow and miss Ruth, olife successfully escaped from Fagin and others, and let the police turn over the den. Menx also tells about the life experience of olifi: menx and olifi are actually half brothers. However, olifis father had passed away, and his property was divided between his two sons. Since then, Olivier has lived with Mr. Brownlow. The author Dickens wrote "Oliver Twist" wonderfully, and the plot is also very dangerous, so it attracts the readers at once, and makes the readers mood change with the plot of the story. There is always a dark side to life. However, the light will always prevail over the dark, there will be countless "Mr. Brownlow" and "Miss Ruth" to help those in trouble. I also want to learn from them: try my best to help others, and always have a good heart.《雾都孤儿》英文版读后感 400字4Growing up in solitude and struggling in pain, this is Oliver Twist, an orphan in foggy city written by Charles Dickens.Oliver grew up in a workhouse. He never felt the warmth of his mothers love and family. He always lived in hell. At the age of nine, Mr. bumble sent him to the home of a mortician named sulbury as an assistant, but it was no better or worse than the workhouse, so Oliver could not bear the inhumane life and fled here, ready to go to the "fog city" - London. When he arrived in London, he met two evil doers, one was the robber Sikes, the other was the thief Fagin. Later Fagin wanted to train him to be a thief, because he became a thief, and the mystery of his life was also revealed.Olivers coming to London is not necessarily a good thing, but it must not be a bad thing. Because although he met Fagin, he also met many good people: Nancy, who is also good and evil, Mr. Brownlow, who is kind-hearted.This book describes an optimistic Oliver, no matter the orphans life or his lonely and painful childhood, he doesnt complain. And we have a warm family from birth to now, but every day is full of all kinds of complaints, we should be like him, "no complaints, no complaints".《雾都孤儿》英文版读后感 400字5Oliver Twist is a realistic novel written by Charles Dickens. The novel is set in foggy London in the 19th century and tells the story of Olivers life experience and growth. At the same time, as an example of social novels, it reveals other real social problems in the 19th century, such as child labor, juvenile delinquency and so on.There is a plot in the article that makes people feel deeply. Oliver is taken to the gathering place of thieves. The men whodominate the group praise the death penalty in front of expensive watches and jewelry. It seems hard to understand why the lawbreakers are not afraid of death penalty. This is related to the defects of the law at that time. Confession can not change the fate of being hanged, so the criminals who go to the execution ground will not choose to let the truth As a result, these young people are free from slavery.Oliver, the protagonist in the novel, was originally a simple teenager, because he had to mix with a group of juvenile delinquents for survival. Regardless of the later turning point of the novel, if Oliver had been living with this group of people and learning their "technology", his life would surely go dark. Although these are related to the complex background of London in the 19th century, we should still be vigilant that similar phenomena still exist in our society.Caring for the physical and mental health of teenagers requires the joint efforts of all our citizens. Like the old gentleman in the novel, a little help and a simple helping hand may change a persons future.。

He is humorous and witty. Character- portrayal is the most distinguishing feature of his works. Among a vast range of various characters, marked out by some peculiarity in physical traits, speech or manner, are both types and individuals. His novels offer a most complete and realistic picture of the English bourgeois society of his age. His major article as follows: <A tale of cites> , <David Copperfiled>, <Great Expectations>,< Hard Time>and <A Christmats Carol > About The StoryOliver himself is born in a workhouse and treated cruelly there as was the normat the time for pauper children, in particular by Bumble, a parish council official or eadle The story follows Oliver as he escapes the workhouse and runs away to London. Nancy intervenes but is murdered viciously by Sikes after she has showed some redeeming qualities and has discovered Monk sinister intention. The story closes happily and with justice for Bumble and the cruel Monks who has hidden the truth of Oliver parentage out of malice.About The backgroundSocial backgroundthe 19 th century is the golden age of children's literature development in Europe, thisA chance is arriving that accompanied with the capitalist system andstrengthening. Along with The depth of the European enlightenment materialistic thought and the spread of science and technology , people's scientific concept of humanity quality and continues are improving. Thy pay more attention to teach children and began to admit that children is the crowd who with independent personality, not the narrowing of the adults or shadow.Personal backgroundDickens himself was once a poor children. He had a chance to see and access to touch the true real life of same fate children like himself , this is basic element for him to create a series of Children suffering novel. We can say that the creation of children in dickens' novel has the characters has the exquisite description and real behavior hold is due to his childhood of truth experience.2.Plot characters conflicts themeOliver’s KindnessHis Kindness to the PoorIn the life of his working in the coffin shop, he expressed sympathy to the poor who were more misfortune than him. For example,” A man and an old woman stood near the body, Oliver was afraid to kook at them.” why did Oliver don’t want to see them? That’s becaus e he was too kind to have the heart to the poor. Even though he knew himself also was a poor boy, that’s not the reason that he didn’t care about the other poor, but why did he do like that? He couldn’t offer them money, after all, he was poor too, and he also couldn’t give them encouragement. Because they didn’t need that, so all he could do was feeling sorry to them,:” so how did you like it, Oliver?’ asked so we were later, as they walked home.’ not very much, sir’ Oliver answered truthfully. Oliver wondered how long that would take, and remains silent all the way back to the shop, thinking about everything that he had seen and heard. His Kindness to the ThievesFagin was deceitful, he didn’t believe in anybody.he even knocked them both down the stairs and sent them to bed with no dinner, because they had returned with nothing .he also treat bad to Oliver when Oliver was caught to Fagin’s house again,Fagin picked up a long piece of wood, he hit Oliver hard on the shoulders with stick, even though he was so bad, Oliver also keep a kind attitude to him. When Fagin was in the prison, Oliver even went to see him, he said “yes, Will you pray with me?’ how kind he was, what he thought at that time was the good that Fagin to him. we can see that the aim he went there was pray for him , I think Oliver had not hate him ever , he also remembered that if there was no Fagin who gave him a place to live , he might be dead already . He was not only kind but also knew absolutely.Oliver’s innocenceOliver was not only kind, but also innocent, His innocent shoe off many aspects When Oliver was with the thieves, he was more innocent than ever. For example, at first , he arrived in London with no money, and there was nobody who he knew, Dodger “help” him, and introduce Fagin to him “ “well, don’t worry, I’ve got to be in London tonight, and I know a very nice old gentleman there who will let you live in his place and not even ask you for money .’ Oliver was deeply grateful for this offer of shelter and talked for a long time with his new friend...... However, he wanted first to meet the kind old gentleman in London, who would help him. So innocent he was. He believed in a thief actually. He deeply trusts in Fagin before he melts Fagin by what Dodger said. Was there a thief can know a man who would like to help the poor? After all that Dodger was a thief whose friends must be bad men? However, Oliver believed him. He went with Dodger to Fagin’s house.Oliver’s HonestyAs we know, Oliver was poor, he needed money. But he did not take the money because of his honest and he said to Mr. Brownlow “I will be back after ten minutes.” however, he was grasped by Fagin unluckily. Unexpectedly, when he was with Fagin, he also said to him “those books and money belong to the kind old man who took me into his home , send him back the books and the money ---he will think I stole them.’ In the last example, I have an analysis about the words. Of course; it showed Oliver’s innocence, but it also gave us a look at Oliver’s honest. at that ti me, he was in bad situation, however he also remembered that he must send the books back to Mr. Brown low, he just wanted to convinced that he was not a deceiver, he was honest, although that things couldn’t be sent back, it also could convinced Oliver’s h onest. Are there any people can do like that? Especially, Oliver was a poor boy; he lived in that society which was full of criminals. But he also can keep an honest, that’s so valuable. When Oliver lived a happy life with rose and Mrs. Maylei, he didn’t forget Mr. Brown low, not only because of Mr. Brownlow’s benefit to him but those books and money, he didn’t want Mr. Brownlow to get a false understanding about him. So he always remembered that thing, from this we can see Oliver washonest absolutely.ment reflectionOliver Twist, one of the most famous works of Charles Dickens', is a novel reflecting the tragic fact of the life in Britain in 18th century. The author who himself was born in a poor family wrote this novel in his twenties with a view to reveal the ugly masks of those cruel criminals and to expose the horror and violence hidden underneath the narrow and dirty streets in London. The hero of this novel was Oliver Twist, an orphan, who was thrown into a world full of poverty and crime. He suffered enormous pain, such as hunger, thirst, beating and abuse. While reading the tragic experiences of the little Oliver, I was shocked by his sufferings. I felt for the poor boy, but at the same time I detested the evil Fagin and the brutal Bill. To my relief, as was written in all the best stories, the goodness eventually conquered devil and Oliver lived a happy life in the end. One of the plots that attracted me most is that after the theft, little Oliver was allowed to recover in the kind care of Mrs. Maylie and Rose and began a new life. He went for walks with them, or Rose read to him, and he worked hard at his lessons. He felt as if he had left behind forever the world of crime and hardship and poverty. How can such a little boy who had already suffered oppressive affliction remain pure in body and mind? The reason is the nature of goodness. I think it is the most important information implied in the novel by Dickens-he believed that goodness could conquer every difficulty. Although I don't think goodness is omnipotent, yet I do believe that those who are kind-hearted live more happily than those who are evil-minded.4.reference1.Catherine Peters, Charles Dickens. [英语作文]《雾都孤儿》英文读后感《雾都孤儿》英文读后感Oliver Twist is written by Charles Dickens.Charles Dickens is one of the greatest writers in the England. He was born in a poor family but later he became famous and rich. The famous novel --A Tale of Two Cities is written by him too. This novel shows us the cruelty and crime of London. Oliver Twist the hero is a poor orphan. He lived in a life filled with taunts. Nobody loved him. With visions of his future he decided to go to London. He thought a new life was coming but he was wrong a group of thieves were waiting for him.The author created a group of bad men.Fagin an old man with a horribly ugly face and red hair was the head of those thieves. He tried to make Oliver be a criminal.Bill Sikes was a cruel and evil man in the group. He had a bad temper.Monks Oliver’s broth er did bad things to hurt Oliver. He wanted to get the legacies left by his father alone. He paid Fagin to trap Oliver into alife of crime. In fact they were all afraid of being put into prison and being hanged. They can’t live happily.Nancy a poor girl loved a bad man. She had to help Bill Sikes perpetrate because she loved him. She had to be loyal to the criminal group because she loved him. Actually she was kind. She helped Oliver at the risk of her life.If she hadn’t fell in love with Sikes she w ould have a happy ending. The author showed these ugly things to us he described an ugly world. But there are more kind people in the novel.Mr. Brownlow an old friend of Oliver’s father took good care of Oliver.Mrs. Maylie Harry Maylie’s moth er saved Oliver of his life.Miss Rose is the aunt of Oliver in fact. They all protect Oliver from hurt.Oliver was unlucky to meet so many evil people but he was luckier to get help from so many kind people. In the end of the novel all the evil people were punished. Oliver got what he should get. Rose married Harry Maylie and they lived happily. All the kind people have a happy ending.Righteousness can always beat evil. I think this is what the author wants to tell. Although there are many ugly things in the world we must believe that righteousness can always beat evil.We must store kindness even though we are in ugly situation. One is poorif he doesn’t have kindness. One is rich if he has kindness. So please store your kindness in your mind. What’s more the novel also tells us to be brave. Oliver was brave enough to overcome all the problems he had met. No matter how difficult the problemis we can’t give up we must try our best to solve it.From Oliver Twist I have learnt a lot .It’s really a good novel. How can such a little boy who had already suffered oppressive affliction remain pure in body and mind? 雾都孤儿读后感英文(推荐10篇)雾都孤儿读后感英文第1篇Here I am sitting on a couch alone, thinking about what I have just finished reading with tears of sadness filling my eyes and fire of indignation filling my heart, which revived my exhausted soul that has already been covered by the cruelty and the selfishness of the secular world for a long time. It is truly what I felt after reading Oliver Twist, written by the prominent British author Charles Dickens. The resonance between me and the book makes me feel not only the kindness and the wickedness of all the characters in the novel, but what this aloof society lacks, and what I lack deep inside. These supreme resources I’m talking about right now are somewhat different from minerals, oil that we usually mention. They’re abstract like feelings, and some kinds of spiritual stimulation that all of us desire anxiously from one another love and care. Those charitable figures whom Dickens created in the novel are really what we need in life. They showed love and care to others, just as the gentle rain from the sky fell upon the earth, which was carved into my heart deeply.Mr. Brownlow is one such person. The other day he had one of his elaborate watches stolen by two skilled teenage thieves, Artful Dodger and Charley Bates, and thought naturally it was Oliver, who was an orphan and forced to live with a gang of thieves, that had done it because he was the only one near by after the theft had taken place. Being wrathful, he caught Oliver, and sent him to the police station where the ill-tempered, unfair magistrates worked. Fortunately for him, Oliver was proved innocent by one onlooker afterwards. With sympathy, Mr. Brownlow took the injured, poor Oliver to his own home. There Oliver lived freely and gleefully for some months as if he were Mr. Brownlow’s own son. One day, however, Mr. Brownlow asked Oliver to return some books to the bookseller and to send some money for the new books that he had already collected. The thief Oliver once stayed with kidnapped him. After that he disappeared in Mr. Brownlow’s life. Searching for a while, Mr. Brownlow had to believe the fact that he had run away with his money. But dramatically, they came across each other again a few years later. Without hesitation,Mr. Brownlow took Oliver home for the second time not caring if he had done something evil.Perhaps most of us would feel confused about Mr. Brownlow’s reaction. But as a matter of fact, this is just the lesson we should learn from him. Jesus said in the Bible. “Forgive not seven times, but seventy-times seven.” Why is that Because forgiveness is our ability to remove negative thoughts and neutralize them so our energy may be spent on doing what we came here for. We cannot move forward in our future if past issues cloud our thinking. ()Stop put Mr. Brownlow into the list of your models. Always give people a second chance no matter what they might have done. That’s also a substantial part of loving and caring others. Then there are Mrs. Maylie and Rose, Oliver’s other benefactors. Maybe the reason they loved and cared Oliver was not because of forgiveness. In my point of view, it was trust. They had faith in Oliver when he was considered to be a filthy burglar who tried to break the front door of Maylie’s at midnight. But this wasn’t how these two ladies saw the whole thing. They denied Oliver’s crime immediately and listened attentively to Oliver’s own description of his miserable life. They were deeply touched by Oliver’s strongperseverance and astonishing vitality. Accordingly, they remedied Oliver’s body and heart and turned him into a different boy. He began to wear appropriate and clean suits which were tailor-made for him and receive education. As far as we can see, it is trust that helps us all live together without precaution. Sometimes trust can even lead us to miracles, which we often expect to come about, so why not trust Trust yourself, trust others, and you’ll salute miracles every single day.雾都孤儿读后感英文第2篇One of Dickens most enduringly popular stories is Oliver Twist,an early work published 1837-8。

Her debut in the story, it was already seventeen-and eighteen-year-old young female thief, and early for Essex, become what he was the one with usurpation of mistress. However, westill easy to see the word from the story of her youth life clues. Nancy at first by letting go out to help find and missing oliver afterstealing a thief, but FeiJin should first of oliver sticks addition, she stand, a take over FeiJin hand big stick thrown into the fire. Then appeared to FeiJinHe Essex party, Nancy for the other party's lips gun debate. Nancy ChuJingShengQing, pavano said that his miserable childhood: "... you (by means FeiJin) this rascal!" She pointed to oliver said: "... I'm less than half his age is for you to steal, since then dry this smelly profession dry twelve years!..." This not only is accusing ofblood! Oliver only about 10 years of age, so it is easy to see, Nancy's destiny better than oliver more misery, less than 5 years old to stop the thief was forced to help godfathers to steal steak. Dare not, will suffer from the flesh of bitterness. So does is 12 years, including the blood and poignant, humiliation pain like a nightmare difficulty to wake the long night endless headless. So, five years old infant namely for thief Nancy's home where, parents? We can guess, she might parents are dead, perhaps is because the parents are unable to raise and let the streets of the outcast, perhaps and oliver as poor study.2 Nancy WeiHuZuoChang: bug and intercept oliverNancy participated in the gang activity, and even many of the theft or one of the first, whether please too fagan or she loved but afterwards but personally sent him to death his es have to to her daunting. And all the stealing are Nancy's "evil".More important is due to Nancy personally horse, will have been from the stonework of oliver again took a thief grasped back from the street. It has undergone as follows: oliver by FeiJin calif, first with dawkins and Bates a street burgle miss after dawkins and Bates was very quick-witted clever escape, and oliver were captured by police. After thetheft of Mr. Brown to los, authorities said oliver is not ZuoAnZhe,build the site is one of the other two runaway, so oliver be acquitted. And because oliver looks and stored in a friend Mr. Brown in los of a painting, this woman face resembles a portrait of Mr Brown los caused a great interest in, Together with oliver innocent demeanor and birdhanging character earned the kindness of Mr Brown's sympathy, then los without hesitation, took the homeless orphans. A Character Analysis of the Heroes of Oliver Twist and GreatExpectationsAbstractOliver Twist and Great Expectations are famous books of Charles Dickens, who is a great critic of reality. Both stories mainly describe the miserable lot of heroes, Oliver Twist and Pip. They both met with various peoples, some of them treat them bad or involve them into crime. However, some persons always help them and treat them well. During that time, they show many kinds of characters. Among this, the most especial ones are kindness and being grateful.Key words: kindness, grateful, ambition, innocenceⅠIntroductionOliver Twist was Dickens’ second novel, which marked the beginning of Dickens’ literary life. It concentrates on the hard years of an orphan, Oliver Twist, who was against the criminal world of London. It is the first novel that readers are led to a very sad world. The hero of this novel was Oliver Twist, an orphan, while reading the tragic experiences of the little Oliver; he was thrown into a world full of poverty and crime. He suffered big pain, such as hunger, thirst, beating; I was shocked by his sufferings. I felt sorry for the poor boy, but at the same time I detested the evil Fagin and the brutal Bill. To my relief, as was written in all the best stories, the goodness eventually conquered evil and Oliver lived a happy life at the end.Pip in the Great Expectations is at heart a very generous and sympathetic young man, a fact that can be witnessed in his numerous acts of kindness throughout the book(helping Magwitch, secretly buying Herbert’s way into business, etc) and his essential love for all those who love him. Pip’s main line of development in the novel may be seen as the process of learning to place his innate sense of kindness conscience above his immature idealsm.ⅡOliver’s Kindness2.1 His Kindness to the PoorIn the life of his working in the coffin shop, he expressed sympathy to the poor who were more misfortune than him. For example,” A man and an old woman stood near the body, Oliver was afr aid to kook at them.” why did Oliver don’t want to see them? That’s because he was too kind to have the heart to the poor. The society was full of selfishness and crimes, people in that time were mostly poor. The people’s relationship were desolated, this relationship can be seen in adults abundantly. However as a child who was only ten years old, he was kindhearted to the poor, he wasn’t influenced by that world. T hat’s valuable.2.2 His Kindness to CompanionOliver regarded of their position was good or bad, he was always thinking about his friend whose name was Dick in the slum study. As he was detained by Mr. Brown, I thought: if we are him, we will fell so gratified flexibly, but Oliver didn’t like that, he always thought that if he could had a look at little Dick, who was willing to endure hunger beaten; the small Dick probably just cried at that moment, after that, he still wanted to go to help him. This properly showed his kindness. He was so good, because he couldn’t forget his companion even though he was only in a better place than before. Undoubted that from what did Oliver just said, it can be seen that Oliver was various to his friend, That’s Oliver, that’s his Kindness to his friend.ⅢPip’s KindnessPip’s inner value, innocenceThe theme of crime, guilt, and innocence is explored throughout the novel largely through the characters of the convicts and the criminal lawyer Jaggers. From the handcuffs Joe mends at the smithy to the gallows at the prison in London, the imagery of crime and crim inal justice pervades the book, becoming an important symbol of Pip’s inner struggle to reconcile his own inner moral conscience with the institutional justice system. In general, just as social class becomes a superficial standard of value that Pip must learn to look beyond in finding a better way to live his life, the external trappings of the criminal justicesystem (police, courts, jails, etc.) become a superficial standard of morality that Pip must learn to look beyond to trust his inner conscience.Ⅳ ConclusionCharles Dickens is one of the greatest critical realists in English literature history. Oliver Twist is his masterpiece. It is Dickens’ favorite novel. Oliver Twist is a very moving story, it is the first novel that readers are led to a very sad world, and Oliver is such a role who has so many characters brave, kindness, innocence and so on. They are all showed from his attitudes towards the peoples and things around him. No matter whom they are, Oliver always expresses his kindness to them, no matter what the things are, difficult or good, he also showed brave. That’s the reason that he gets a good and happy life finally. While the most important theme in Great Expectations is that no external standard of value can replace the judgments of one’s own conscience. Characters such as Joe and Biddy know this instinctively; for Pip, it is a long and hard lesson, the learning of which makes up much of the book. When we think of the boys, their characters will give a deep impression on us .and they can be the positive sprit for us.Reference[1]孙华祥英国文学选读中国社会科学出版社2010[2]徐葆耕. 西方文学十五讲. 北京大学出版社, 2003[3]魏健英美文学鉴赏导读浙江大学出版社2008[4]Catherine Peters, Charles Dickens. The Orphan of the Foggy City: A Reflectionon Dickens' Classic TaleIn the heart of London's foggy streets, Charles Dickens' "The Orphan of the Foggy City" tells a tale of survival, struggle, and the enduring power of hope. This timeless novel, set against the backdrop of 19th-century England, captures the essence of the orphan Oliver Twist's journey from deprivation to self-discovery.Oliver, born into poverty and orphaned at a tender age, embarks on a perilous odyssey through the gritty underbelly of London. His early life is a series of cruel apprenticeships and dead-end jobs, where he faces hunger, abuse, and exploitation. Yet, throughout his ordeals,Oliver maintains a resolute spirit, fueled by the hope of finding a better life. The novel's central theme is the duality of human nature and the complexities of morality. Dickens portrays London as a city divided between the rich and the poor, the haves and the have-nots. This divide is not just a physical one, but also a psychological one, reflecting the conflicting impulses within each character. Oliver, forinstance, must navigate a world where kindness and cruelty coexist, where the line between right and wrong is often blurred. One of the most memorable characters in the novel is Fagin, the leader of a gang of pickpockets. While Fagin's actions are reprehensible, his tragic backstory provides a window into the social ills that drive him to crime.Dickens uses Fagin's character to explore the idea that criminality is not just a choice, but often a product ofone's circumstances. The novel's narrative is structured around a series of twists and turns, keeping the reader on the edge of their seat. Oliver's escape from Fagin's gang, his encounter with the kindly Mr. Brownlow, and his ultimate revelation of his true identity are all moments that build towards a climatic ending."The Orphan of the Foggy City" is not just a storyabout survival; it's also a celebration of the human spirit. In the face of adversity, Oliver never loses sight of his dreams. His story is a reminder that no matter how bleakour circumstances may seem, hope can always find a way to shine through.Dickens' masterful storytelling and profound insights into human nature make "The Orphan of the Foggy City" a timeless classic. It's a story that speaks to us across the ages, reminding us of the enduring power of hope and the resilience of the human spirit.**《雾都孤儿》:对狄更斯经典作品的反思**在伦敦雾气弥漫的街道中,查尔斯·狄更斯的《雾都孤儿》讲述了一个关于生存、挣扎和希望的永恒故事。

雾都孤儿英文读后感作文600字雾都孤儿英文读后感作文600字To Regain the Nature of Goodness -- Review of ‘Oliver Twist’ Oliver Twist one of the most famous works of Charles Dickens’ is a novel reflecting the tragic fact of the life in Britain in 18th century. The author who himself was born in a poor family wrote this novel in his twenties with a view to reveal the ugly masks of those cruel criminals and to expose the horror and violence hidden underneath the narrow and dirty streets in London. The hero of this novel was Oliver Twist an orphan who was thrown into a world full of poverty and crime. He suffered enormous pain such as hunger thirst beating and abuse. While reading the tragic experiences of the little Oliver I was shocked by his sufferings. I felt for the poor boy but at the same time I detested the evil Fagin and the brutal Bill. To my relief as was written in all the best stories the goodness eventually conquered devil and Oliver lived a happy life in the end. One of the plots that attracted me most is that after the theft little Oliver was allowed to recover in the kind care of Mrs. Maylie and Rose and began a new life. He went for walks with them or Rose read to him and he worked hard at his lessons. Although I don’t think goodness is omnipotent yet I do believe that those who are kind-hearted live more happily than those who are evil-minded. For me the nature of goodness is one of the mostnecessary character for a person. Goodness is to humans what water is to fish. He who is without goodness is an utterly worthless person. On the contrary as the famous saying goes ‘The fragrance always stays in the hand that gives the rose’ he who is with goodness undoubtedly is a happy and useful person. People receiving his help are grateful to him and he also gets gratified from what he has done and thus he can do good to both the people he has helped and himself.。

The misty air seemed to reflect the desolation that surrounded me.The orphans of this city, like me, were left to fend for ourselves in this harsh world. In this concrete jungle, survival was a constant battle. We fought for every scrap of food, every warm corner to sleep in. The city's indifference towards us was disheartening. We were merely forgotten souls, invisible to the bustling crowds that passed us by.But amidst the despair, there was a glimmer of hope. The orphans of this foggy city formed a tight-knit community, bound by the shared experience of abandonment. We looked out for one another, offering a helping hand when needed. In this cruel world, we found solace in eachother's company.Every day was a struggle, but we refused to let it break our spirits. We made the most of what little we had. We found joy in the simplest of things a stolen moment of laughter, a stolen piece of chocolate. These small moments of happiness were like rays of sunshine in our otherwise gloomy existence. The fog that blanketed the city seemed to mirror the uncertainty that shrouded our future. We had no idea what lay ahead for us. The world seemed to be an unending maze of obstacles and challenges. But we were determined to navigate through it, to find our place in this unforgiving society.Despite the hardships we faced, there was a resilience within us. We refused to be defined by our circumstances. We dreamt of a better life, of breaking free from the chains of poverty and neglect. We held onto our dreams tightly, for they were the only things that kept us going. In this foggy city of orphans, we were united by our shared struggle. We may have been forgotten by the world, but we refused to forget ourselves. We were fighters, survivors, and dreamers. And one day, we would rise above the mist and prove to the world that we were more than just abandoned souls in a foggy city.。

雾都孤儿英文读后感_900字Learn to love and careHere I am sitting on a couch alone thinking about what I have just finished reading with tears of sadness filling my eyes and fire of indignation filling my heart which revived my exhausted soul that has already been covered by the cruelty and the selfishness of the secular world for a long time. It is truly what I felt after reading Oliver Twist written by the prominent British author Charles Dickens.the resonance between me and the book makes me feel not only the kindness and the wickedness of all the characters in the novel but what this aloof society lacks and what I lack deep inside. These supreme resources I’m talking about right now are somewhat different from minerals oil that we usually mention. Th ey’re abstract like feelings and some kinds of spiritual stimulation that all of us desire anxiously from one another ——love and care. Those charitable figures whom Dickens created in the novel are really what we need in life. They showed love and care to others just as the gentle rain from the sky fell upon the earth which was carved into my heart deeply.Mr. Brownlow is one such person.the other day he had one of his elaborate watches stolen by two skilled teenage thieves Artful Dodger and Charley Bates and thought naturally it was Oliver who was an orphan and forced to live with a gang of thieves that had done it because he was the only one near by after the theft had taken place. Being wrathful he caught Oliver and sent him to the police station where the ill-tempered unfair magistrates worked. Fortunately for him Oliver was proved innocent by one onlooker afterwards. With sympathy Mr. Brownlow took the injured poor Oliver to his own home. There Oliver lived freely and gleefully for some mon ths as if he were Mr. Brownlow’s own son. One day however Mr. Brownlow asked Oliver to return some books to the bookseller and to send some money for the new books that he had already collected. The thief Oliver once stayed with kidnapped him. After that he disappeared i n Mr. Brownlow’s life. Searching for a while Mr. Brownlow had to believe the fact that he had run away with his money. But dramatically they came across each other again a few years later. Without hesitation Mr. Brownlow took Oliver home for the second time not caring if he had done something evil.。

The reason is the nature of goodness. I think it is the most important information implied in the novel by Dickens-he believed that goodnecould conquer every difficulty. People receiving his help are grateful to him and he also gets gratified from what he has done and thus he can do good to both the people he has helped and himself. To my disappointment nowadays some people seem to doubt the existence of the goodnein humanity. They look down on people’s honesty and kindness thinking it foolish of people to be warm-hearted. As a result they show no sympathy to those who are in trouble and seldom offer to help others. On the other hand they attach importance to money and benefit. In their opinion money is the only real object while emotions and morality are nihility. If theycannot get profit from showing their ‘kindness’ they draw back when others are faced with trouble and even hit a man when he is down. They are one of the sorts that I really detest.Francis Bacon said in his essay ‘Goodness of all virtues and dignities of the mind is the greatest being the character of the Deity and without it manis a busy mischievous wretched thing no better than a kind of vermin.’Oliver Twist one of the most famous works of Charles Dickens' is a novel reflecting the tragic fact of the life in Britain in 18th century. He felt as if he had left behind forever the world of crime and hardship and poverty. How can such a little boy who had already suffered oppressive affliction remain pure in body and mind? The reason is the nature of goodness. I think it is the most important information implied in the novel by Dickens—he believed that goodness could conquer every difficulty. Although I don't think goodness is omnipotent yet I do believe that those who are kind-hearted live more happily than those who are evil-minded.For me the nature of goodness is one of the most necessary character for a person. Goodness is to humans what water is to fish. He who is without goodness is an utterly worthless person. On the contrary as the famous saying goes 'The fragrance always stays in the hand that gives the rose' he who is with goodness undoubtedly is a happy and useful person. People receiving hishelp are grateful to him and he also gets gratified from what he has done and thus he can do good to both the people he has helped and himself. To my disappointment nowadays some people seem to doubt the existence of the goodness in humanity. They look down on people's honesty and kindness thinking it foolish of people to be warm-hearted. As a result they show no sympathy to those who are in trouble and seldom offer to help others. On the other hand they attach importance to money and benefit. In their opinion money is the only real object while emotions and morality are nihility. If they cannot get profit from showing their'kindness' they draw back when others are faced with trouble and even hit a man when he is down. They are one of the sorts that I really detest.Francis Bacon said in his essay 'Goodness of all virtues and dignities of the mind is the greatest being the character of the Deity and without it man is a busy mischievous wretched thing no better than a kind of vermin.'That is to say a person without goodness is destined to lose everything. Therefore I a kind person want to tell those'vermin-to-be'to learn from the kind Oliver and regain the nature of goodness.感谢您的阅读,祝您生活愉快。
