苔丝英文读后感

苔丝英文读后感

Why was Tess&rsq uo;s girlish purity lost? Why did such a beautiful, noble and pure woman as Tess should suffer

in evitable rui n? Why does the wrong man take the wrong woma n? Why it is always the woma n who pays? Why they are always hurt? Why is beauty damaged by ugliness? Why the tragedy is happened more than one hundred years ago repeated in moder n times? Is everyth ing too late?

Rece ntly l&rsqu o;ve read the British famous writer

Thomas Hard y’s masterpiece-Tess of the

D’urbervilles. It describes the misfortune of a poor peasa nt girl Tess. In this no vel, we can see Tess resist her unjust fate aga in and aga in, till to be ruin ed. With the developme nt of the plot we find that her tragedy is in evitable. We can not but feel the intense emoti ons of pity and fear.

The cause of Tess’s tragedy has always been the con cer n of people, such a beautiful, n oble and pure woma n as Tess should suffer in evitable rui n. What leads to her tragic

desti ny? Who killed her? I can&rsq uo;t do very well in an alysis the no vel. I don&rsq uo;t know clearly how the time she lived in affect her life. I

do have an un dersta nding of the no vel by myself. Alec and An gel who are the two people very closely related to Tess&rsq uo;s fate. I thi nk fierce Alec played a very important role in killing Tess, but in fact, it was hypocritical An gel who killed Tess in directly but more cruelly.

I wan ted to cry, Tess, do not follow him whe n I read that

plot. I hope she met her true love before she was seduced, but everything was too late. She was seduced by a so called

gentleman-Alec, and from then on her life totally changed

from this loss of innocen ce. People looked dow n on her and respect her no more. Actually she did no thi ng wrong because before she was seduced she knew nothing of man. Women were too weak. Tess was poor, weak and helpless and met the wrong pers on at the wrong time.

I stron gly believed that it was An gel who killed Tess cruelly and without mercy. An gel was a liberal bourgeoisie. He made himself lived in the coun tryside rather tha n serv ing the god. An gel was a man who questi oned the church&rsq uo;s teachi ng. He thought the church&rsq uo;s views were too strict and did not allow free th in ki ng. An gel extricated him from religion and his family, but he couldn’t break with traditi onal moral prin ciples. He wan ted a wife who was the daughter of n ature, hon est, sen sitive, in tellige nt, graceful, pure as

snow and extremely beautiful. In the first part I thought An gel loved tess very much. In the follow ing part I found that he loved an image he imagi ned. After their weddi ng An gel con fessed the crime he committed to a woma n long time ago and asked Tess&rsq uo;s forgive ness. Tess was not at all angry and forgave an gel at on ce. She innocen tly thought that the thing she was going to con fess would be forgive n. Poor Tess! She sat and told everythi ng to an gel, hop ing he would forgive her as he was forgive n, but she was wrong. The woma n pays.

An gel claimed that you were one pers on, now you are ano ther whe n tess asked why. The woma n An gel had loved was not tess, was another woman in tess’s shape. An gel loved the pers on he imagi ned. He con sidered tess the daughter of nature. Compared to tess’s words, “ I thought an gel, that you loved me-me my very self! If you do love me, how can you treat me like this? It frightened m e! Having begu n to love you, I will love you forever, i n all cha nges, in all troubles, because you are yourself. I ask no more. ” we know how deep tess loved an gel. She would have laid dow n life for an gel. She n ot only loved the merits but also accept the

demerits. We know from the book that whe n an gel came back

from Brazil, he could hardly be recognized by his mother because the cruel climate and hard work had aged him by twenty years, but tess accepted an gel immediately, because he was the man she fell in love
