The first unit on things like proper sentence structure, basic grammar, and vocabulary had been manageable. But I had heard from some of the older students that Unit 2 was going to be much more challenging. Little did I know just how much new stuff I was about to learn!The first few lessons introduced us to the wonderful world of verb tenses. Up until this point, we had really only focused on the simple present and simple past tenses when learning about verbs. But now we were being exposed to all these other tenses like the present continuous, present perfect, past continuous, future tenses, and more. At first, it was really confusing trying to keep them all straight in my head. When do I use the present perfect versus the simple past? How does the future continuous tense work? My brain felt like it was going to explode!Fortunately, our teacher Mr. Roberts was really good at breaking it all down step-by-step with clear examples. He would put sentences up on the board using each of the tenses, and then we would have to identify which tense was being used and why. After going through many examples like this, the lightbulb finally started to go off, and I began understanding when to properly use each of the tenses. Looking back, I'm really glad we took the time to drill these verb tense concepts, as they became absolutely crucial for more advanced writing and speech later on.Along with verb tenses, we also learned about other aspects of grammar such as subject-verb agreement, using articles correctly, prepositions, and more. Each new grammar concept was challenging at first, but repetition and practice were key. Our teacher had us do tons of exercises identifying the various grammar rules in example sentences. We also did writing practices putting the concepts into use ourselves. Some of the exercised seemed tedious at the time, but Mr. Roberts always reminded us that mastering these grammar rules now would pay huge dividends when we got to more complex writing and reading in the future.In addition to a heavy emphasis on grammar, Unit 2 was also where we started reading our first novel together as a class. Thenovel was called "The Catcher in the Rye" by J.D. Salinger. To be honest, I wasn't too excited about having to read an older novel from the 1950s at first. Many of the students, including myself, thought the book would be boring and hard to relate to. How wrong we were! From the very first chapters, I found myself amazed by how real and insightful the narrator's voice was. The main character, Holden Caulfield, had such a unique way of seeing the world. His thoughts and commentary on the world around him were so fresh and resonated a lot with the experiences of being a teenager.As we continued reading the book over the next several weeks, our class discussions around the themes and characters became more and more engrossed. We talked about things like the loneliness of adolescence, the phoniness and hypocrisy of adulthood, alienation, innocence, and so much more. I remember several times wanting to keep reading ahead of the assigned pages because I had become that invested in Holden's journey and what he would say or do next. Mr. Roberts did an excellent job facilitating our discussions and helping us peel back the many layers of meaning and symbolism in the text.Studying this novel was definitely one of the highlights of Unit 2 for me. It really helped put into practice a lot of the skillswe were developing around reading comprehension, literary analysis, and finding deeper significance in what we were reading. Even today when I pick up that classic book, I'm brought back to all of the memorable classroom conversations and insights we had while studying it together. Books like that are why I fell in love with reading in the first place.In summary, while Unit 2 of 7th grade English presented a major difficulty spike and learning curve, it was so valuable for building the foundations of advanced language skills. Math is...not my favorite. I'm not a mathematic genius if you know what I mean! I just try my best and study a lot. Next up is history at 10. I actually really like history because I find ancient civilizations fascinating. My favorite is learning about ancient Egypt and the pharaohs.At 11 is my lunch period and I'm always starving by then! The school lunch isn't amazing but it's okay I guess. I'll typically get the pizza or a chicken sandwich. My friends and I sit together and gossip about everything that's going on. Science rocks because we get to do experiments which makes it way more fun than just reading from a textbook. We've been learning about chemical reactions recently and made a little volcano erupt from baking soda and vinegar. After that is Spanish at 1:30. Tony doesn't like getting up. He usually gets up at 8:00 in the morning. He has no a lot of time for breakfast. So he always eats breakfast. Then he goes to school at 800.He eats lunch at school. He usually eats hamburgers.He knows they aren't healthy food,but he feels they tastes good. He finishes school t 6:00. After school, he sometimes plays basketball for half an hour. When he gets home,he always finishes his homework first. In the evening, he either watches TV or plays computer games. Then he brushes his teeth and goes to bed.He sometimes reads before sleep.

Mary usually gets up at half past six. Tn she always take a shower and eats a good breakfast. It's a nice time for her to eat breakfast. After that,she goes to school at half past eight.She is never late for school. She eats lunch at home. She often eats lots of fruit and vegetables. She never eats hamburgers. After lunch,she sometimes plays basketball. Because she likes exercising. She says, “exercise makes a man strong” . After dinner, she eats a little sweet. But she says it is bad for her teeth. After dinner, she also likes taking a walk. She thinks it is good for her sleep. She wants to work at radio station in the future.。
