Three types of parents
It is universally true that all parents in the world love their children. However, as parents views of life vary, they show their love in different ways. Generally speaking, parents can be classified into three types: the monarch type, the servant type, and the friend type according to their different ways of showing their love for their children.
The monarch type of parents are intolerant, autocratic, and self-centered. They lay down regulations in the family for their children to observe. Furthermore, they insist that their children should act upon them without question. When their authority is challenged, they become infuriated. With a firm belief in their won philosophy of life, they have little respect for others’ opinions, least of all, their children’s. The sentence they say most frequently to their children is, ‘You should do this.’
Contrary to the monarch-type parents, the servant-type parents revolve around their children all the time. They are soft, good-natured, and easy-going. They never deny their children any wish, and cheerfully fun to buy anything their children ask for. They are happy as long as their children are content. With the sincere belief that love means sacrifice, they are ready to give up anything for their children’s sake. With their children at the center of their lives, they always ask, ‘What else can we do for you?’
The friend-type parents, as the term implies, treat their children as friends. They are generous and wise. Like good friends, they discuss with their children the latest news, share their children’s interests, and listen attentively to their children’s expression of emotion, whether it is anger, joy or sorrow. They have an intimate relationship with their children while adhering to their principled stand. They discuss problems with their children rather than provide ready solutions. They respect their children as their equals. They often say, ‘Let’s put our heads together and see what we can do.’
There is no doubt that children welcome the third type of parents, for a free, friendly, and sympathetic atmosphere at home is most favorable to the development of youngsters both in body and in mind. All parents should re-examine and change some of their ways of showing their love if they want their children to grow up happily and healthy.

American values receive a warm welcome in the home. Many homes are run like democracy. Each family member can have a say. A sense of equality often exists in American homes. Instead of fearing Mom and Dad, children may think of them as good friends. Husbands and wives often share household chores. In many cases, a child can enjoy privacy in his or her own bedroom. From an early age, children gain responsibility in handling money. They may receive a weekly allowance or even work part-time jobs. Often parents give children freedom to make their own decisions. Preschoolers choose what clothes to wear or which toys to

buy. Young adults generally make their own choices about what career to pursue and whom to marry.
Families in America, like those in every culture, face many problems. Social pressures are breaking apart more and more American homes. Over half of U.S. marriages now end in divorce. More than 25% American children are growing up in single-parent homes. As a result, many people believe the American family is in trouble.

Domestic environment problem
Outline:
The single biggest environment problem is pollution.
We wouldn’t worry about it
Scientists are finding ways to stop air pollution.
it will take some time to stop air pollution
The single biggest environment problem with everyday life in China, in my opinion, is pollution. For example, pollution from factories is not the only problem. Motor vehicles and aircraft pollute the air. Oil tankers pollute the sea. Many city governments discharge sewage into their rivers and leave mountains of garbage in the countryside. Pollution occurs everywhere.
Pollution is getting worse and worse. Particularly, air pollution. If we could escape this problem, we wouldn’t worry about it, because we can choose our food and prepare it carefully; we can filter our water or drink only bottled water; but unless you build yourself a bubble, you can't avoid breathing public air.
Air quality is bad, and many measures are being taken to improve it. Scientists are finding ways to stop air pollution especially in big industrial areas and densely populated cites. They are studying new ways of generating electricity that may be less damaging to the environment. In the meantime, many power plants are being modernized to less polluted material. Also, engineers try to design and locate new power plants to do minimum damage to the environment.

Surely, it will take some time. Tianjin, the nearest big city to Beijing, perhaps thanks to the smaller number of automobile, has a less polluted air, but still, not very comfortable. Nearly all of the countries are trying hard to prevent and control air pollution. There indeed seems to be no end to tasks that environmentalists will be required to do people will continually find new ways to control pollution.

Society and life stander
With the rapid development of the society, family life is becoming modernized. Years ago, people considered owing radios, sewing machines, watches and bicycles as being modern but in recent years, almost all families have TV sets, refrigerators and washing machines. It is very common to see people ride motorcycles or even drive private cars and more and more and families have telephones, computers and air-conditioners.
The modernization of family life brings us convenience and comfort. One may enjoy TV or radio programs, communicate with his friends through telephone or work with his computer, while his washing machine, refrigerator and air-conditioners are running. And

by car or motorcycle can quickly reach wherever he wants to go.

In spite of this, these modern facilities also bring us disadvantages. For example, radiation from TV sets and computers is harmful to our health; improper driving of cars and motorcycles becomes the major cause of traffic accidents. The quietness of a family is often disturbed by a falsedialing or unwelcome phone call. But it is believed that these disadvantages will be disposed of with the improvement of modernization and our life will be more healthy and more comfortable.

The supernatural
There are many things that can be scientifically explained, but there are still many things that are not explainable by the known forces or laws of nature.
Some people believe that such thins are caused by the supernatural. They believe in God or a god. Some people believe in ghosts. Although they have never seen one of themselves, they claim that there is enough evidence of other people seeing ghosts for them to believe. They believe that everyone who dies becomes a ghost and remains on earth. Some people believe in fortune-telling. When they have a problem, they will stay at home. The belief that there are certain things or certain dates that bring bad luck is still quite common.
However, there are also many people who do not believe in the supernatural. They claim that all this evidence of supernatural events is faked. It is all false evidence. The people who claim to have extraordinary powers or to have seen ghosts are all liars. So the debate between those who believe in the supernatural and those who don’t has been going on for a very long time. There is still no indication that it will ever be resolved. I’m an atheist. I don’t believe in the existence of God.
Ideals
Everyone has his ideals. A businessman wishes to make grater profit, a farmer expects bumper harvests; a student tries to learn more and better. And everyone strives, with more effort, to realize his ideals.
One should be sensible about whether his ideal is well founded or not, if it is, one has to plan and work hard for its realization. Effort, skill and persistence are all necessary. And very often, one has to get help from others, including advice and support in one form or another.
My ideal is to become a doctor. It is said that the field of medicine is a well-paid profession entrusted with saving people people’s lives. To realize my ideal I have concentrated on laboratory work to develop the analytical skills necessary to become a qualified doctor. I am sure I will realize m ideal if I preserve in this pursuit.
Man and his environment
Throughout history man has changed his physical environment in order to improve his way of life. With the tools of technology he has altered many physical features of the earth. He has transformed woodlands and prairies into farms and made lakes and reservoirs out of rivers for irrigation purposes or hydroelectric power. Man has also modified the face of the earth by

draining marshes and cutting through mountains to build roads and railways.
However, man’s changes to the physical environment have not always had beneficial results. Today, pollution of the air and water is an increasing danger to the health of the planet. Each day thousands of tons of gases come out of the motor vehicles. Smoke from factories pollutes the air of industrialized areas and the surrounding areas of the countryside. The pollution of water is equally harmful. The whole ecological balance of the sea is being change and industrial wastes have already made many river lifeless.
Now environmental protection is more pressing than ever before. As we know, massive destruction of environment has brought about negative effects and even poses a great threat to man’s existence. Indifferences to these problems will mean committing suicide. Therefore, effective measures should be taken and laws passed to conserve environment. Otherwise, man is certain to suffer from the serious consequences caused by this lack of care for his living surroundings.

Education
The schooling has changed a lot in nowadays China. My mother told me that when she was at my age, her teacher used to ask them to copy English words for more than five times. However, she could still not remember those words.
Today, our teacher has used communicative method to teach us, that is, she gives us many chances to use the language as much as possible, rather than just recite words and grammar.
But schooling does not mean all parts of education, because education is taken in the aspects below:

Firstly, the society gives us a kind of atmosphere, which leads us to achieve different goals. For example, I was told by a German friend, that there is a kind of small market designed for children ranging from 7 to 16. In this market they sell their own things they don’t use. However, all these things should cost less than 10 Pounds at that time. And in this way they get their own money by paying efforts. That is, no pain, no gain.
By the way, my father is in charge of the import and export in his company, so it is very convenient for me to talk with those foreigners.
Comparing with them, Chinese children get their money easier. They don’t have to work hard for money. What they have to do is waiting for the Spring Festival’s coming and get thousands of money form their parents and relatives In my opinion, that’s really not good for one’s development, since they will ask their parents to feed them when they have been a grown-up.

Secondly, education in China is more intensive than before and than other western countries. Actually, nearly all the Asian countries share the same phenomenon. Children’s parents force them to learn many things they don’t like, just because other students learn it as well. But the problem is, if you ask these parents why their children have to learn these subjects, well, most of the parents cannot answer this question. Then they l

ose their purpose and aim. And I think that is really a pity for the whole country.
However, an American child told me that they don’t have a lot of homework to do. Besides, they were given many chances to exercise their body. They have many selective courses and these enable them to choose whatever course they like. Well, if I had had my chance, I would have chosen dancing as my favorite class.

Finally, most of children in China, they don’t learn how to take the responsibility just because of the education from their parents. Most of parents refuse to blame their children when they fall down on the ground. Instead, they curse the ground and the environment. When their children grow up, they get rid of the responsibilities they should take. Day by day, they become more and more selfish. It has been investigated that most of students who graduate from university, they don’t know how to cooperate with others in the company. They are too selfish to work together. This might because we don’t pay attention to sports in China. Since when you are working with others, it is just like playing basketball, it’s a teamwork rather than individual work.
However, in many western countries, they ask their students to work on an article or maybe a basketball match. Therefore, their work will become creative.
Even though, it has been improved a lot in China, the present situation is not that satisfactory than we expect. Then we should pay more attention on social education rather than just on schooling education.

Country life vs city life
Do you think country life is better than city life?
Well, I think country life is better than city life.
Firstly, if you live in the country, you can keep healthy. Because there are mountains for you to climb. And even if you don’t want to exercise your body, you have to walk from this side to that side of the village. Well, if you are in a city, the modernization makes you very lazier, that is, you can make a phone call if you want something, and someone will send it to your home.
Besides, there are too many things to eat for people to choose in the city. And these things contain quite a lot fat, which makes people fatter and fatter. However, in the country you may not eat those food which are not good to your health.

What’s more, more and more people find it difficult to breathe in the city. Firstly, people are living in an intense atmosphere, and on the other hand, the pollution in the cities is quite serious.
However, it is quite different when we stay in the country. We can enjoy specially made foods, you know, they are all made of original crops, and the fruits are very much fresh. Once upon a time, I went to an orchard with my parents, we picked cherries from the trees and we really found it was very relaxed.

Finally, you know, my grandma’s home is in the country, so I have the chance to go to the country from time to time. As we were driving into the entrance of the country,

nearly all the people who saw us said hello to us just like friends. Living in this kind of atmosphere, you will feel soft and comfortable because of their clear conscience.

What do you want to be in the future?
* Ok, if I had my way, I would have chosen to be an interpreter.
Firstly, because I could have the chance to travel around the world. You know, I have never been abroad before, then I can just keep it in my dream.
What’s more, being an interpreter can make much money. But the point is, one should reach a certain level.
In addition, as you can see, I am very open and talkative and I want to make friends with many people.
Finally, on the way to be a good interpreter I have the chance to read a lot of books. And this helps me increase my knowledge.
* However, I think being a good interpreter for a company or maybe actually for a boss, one should do more than a boss expects. For example, his translated words should be exact and accurate.
But this is not enough, because sometimes a boss my meet different problems out of you expectation, and that’s really a chance for you to perform, therefore, you are asked to solve these problems by using your experience and skills. This is called value.
You may ask who taught me this? Well, I have got a male cousin, he is working for a big firm as an interpreter. However, he plays his role not only as an interpreter but as a secretary as well. The one year later, he got a good salary.
* Well, as I said just now, it is not easy being a good interpreter. Then I will try my best to be the best one and work hard in the aspects below:
First, as I mentioned just now, I will first study language hard. This does not only mean English but other languages as well.
What’s more, experience is quite important. So I will observe others working and if I don’t understand I will ask.
However, being an interpreter is just like a teacher, you should know some world knowledge. For example, science and technology, schooling and education, and so on.
The last but the most important is, that I should love my job, to be faithful to my young dream.
