development tools are free to download, and Google only charges a small fee to distribute applications on the Android Market. Freedom to innovate. The Android OS is an open-source platform based on the Linux kernel and multiple open-source libraries. In addition to building applications to run on Android devices, developers are free to contribute to or extend the platform as well.
• android 4.1/4.2/4.3 is Jelly Bean （果冻豆） • Since android 4.1,google begin Project Butter which make it more smooth.

• android 3.0 is honeycomb （蜂巢） • it is for pad only and have to pay.
• android 4.0 is Ice Cream Sandwich （冰激 凌三明治） • android 4.0 (for free) integrate PAD and PHONE,so many company use android 4.0 rather than 3.0.
• android 2.0/2.1 is Eclair （松饼） • Dynamic desktop（动态壁纸） is used.
