The Great Barrier Reef is the world's largest coral reef system, located in Australia. It consists of over 2,900 individual reefs and 900 islands, covering an area of approximately 344,400 square kilometers (133,000 square miles). The reef is home to a diverse range of marine life, including over 1,500 species of fish, 600 types of soft and hard corals, and numerous other organisms such as mollusks, turtles, dolphins, and whales.

The Great Barrier Reef is not only a natural wonder but also a significant tourist attraction. Millions of people visit the reef each year to go snorkeling or scuba diving to see its vibrant colors and diverse marine life. However, the reef has been threatened by various factors such as climate change, pollution, and overfishing. In recent years, conservation efforts have been made to protect the reef and preserve its biodiversity for future generations.
