汪氏小苑位于扬州东圈门历史街区地官第街14号,是清朝末期徽商汪竹铭购之扩建,民国初年其长子汪泰阶(字号伯平)率诸兄弟二次扩建,小苑扩建后为四角有园,三进三纵,另有花厅、书斋、轿房、浴房、花房等老房旧屋近百间,建筑面积约1580平方米,小苑占地面积约3000平方米,是现存扬州的清末民初保存最完好的盐商住宅之一。

属市级文物保护单位。

小苑是以住宅为主,苑则相辅,苑面积不大,故称“汪氏小苑”。

小苑为四角花园布局,通过深幽火巷,在圆门上嵌“小苑春深”四字刻石,极为雅致,透过秀丽的花墙,总观全园景物在平淡无奇之中,给人以妩媚爽快之感。

小苑打破建筑史传统园林前宅后园的格局,使园宅融为一体。

从住宅建造上看,布局规整,纵横均为三线,前后中轴贯穿,左右厢房对称,体现儒家中庸之道思想。

正厅旁厢边廊,堂后寝室耳房,体现尊卑有等、男女有别的封建伦理思想。

住宅庭院比例均衡,中堂一纵为“树德堂”,东首一纵为“春晖室”,西首一纵为“秋女雩轩”,暗含九州方圆,寓意家国兴旺。

小苑文史蕴含深厚,“春晖室”存有清嘉庆十年,清代书法家、印石家、篆刻家邓石如摘唐代诗人白居易撰《草堂记》
篆文和近代扬州名儒书法家、篆刻家陈延烨撰并篆写的楹联。

苑内的门楣、石额、匾额、楹联、题字,包含中国书法艺术“楷、隶、行、草、篆”。

它倚山枕水而建,与鄱阳湖地区许多民居一样,由于地势低洼,雨水充沛,易潮易涝,便采取用外墙青砖立斗灌泥、墙内侧定磉立柱承重的构筑形式,规模较大者,鄱湖地区习惯称其为“土库”(音:土屋)。

“汪山土库”由此而得名。

汪山土库始建于清朝道光元年(1821年),由史称“一门三督抚”的湖广总督——程矞(yu育)采、江苏巡抚——程焕采、安徽浙江巡抚——程楙(mao 帽)采三兄弟筹资兴建,历时半个多世纪建成的,距今有180多年的历史。

The hall was named after a poem composed by Meng Jiao, a great poet in the Tang Dynasty. It was restored by the eldest son of The Wang’s family in the early Republican years together with three brothers. The couplet in the middle was written by the great calligrapher Chen Han Guang. The couplet goes like this: The hall built with best materials and consummate decoration, the adolescents in Wang’s family has already become talents. Good relationship between brothers contributes to thriving our family. It symbolizes the wang family’s tradition of advocating literacy and enhancing their moral values. Maybe you have noticed that the hall is more or less westernized. This is because the descendents of the Wang family absorbed western ideas. 小苑分为东中西三纵,中纵为正堂,西纵为女眷生活场所,东纵为客厅、伙房等,客堂总是放在最东边的这一纵,东为上手,这叫待客为上。

我们先从东路建筑参观,进入冬眠是汪家的第一个小花园,花园地面为花街石景,利用建筑小料,花钱少,效果好。

以鹅卵石,碎瓷片,小砖条,旧瓦片铺成吉祥如意的图案,到处是松、鹤、鹿、蝙蝠。

灵芝。

寿桃等,寓意为“福禄双全”“麒麟送子”,可说是遍地吉祥。

园内湖石假山,醒目的是三块立石中的一块神似十二生肖中的羊,意为三阳开泰,东面贴壁假山,有紫藤老干附假山而上,意为紫气东来。

孔子说“仁者乐山,智者乐水”,小苑不仅用鹅卵石铺地为水,而且将客厅滴水檐上水道直接通到假山上,每当天上雨水飘落,雨水集中冲入峰石时,则檐瀑飞溅,形成小苑一道动态景观。

真水、假水,充满灵气,可见主人造园时的匠心已达大化之境。

【春晖室】
现在我们来参观客厅春晖室,打架进门时看看门板上雕刻的案几、花瓶、香炉及四季花卉,组成四季平安如意的口彩。

春晖室取自唐代诗人孟郊的诗句“谁言寸草心,报得三春晖”,是玩家长子汪泰阶携三个弟弟在民国初年翻建的。

中堂对联由当年的大书法家陈含光所写,赏脸取自《尚书》,意思是用最好的材料,丰富的装饰建造厅堂,汪家子弟已成栋梁之才了。

下联摘自《诗经》,以为兄弟之间友好相处使家庭兴旺,如竹苞团结一心,如青松影院苍翠。

春晖室在文革期间是扬州制花厂出口精品的工艺成列室,中间贴着伟大领袖毛泽东的画像,两旁用特制的毛主席语录替换下原楹联,厂领导将原楹联收入了仓库,才使这些楹联、木刻保存至今。

春晖室还有一件原物。

就是中央这组精美的球型组合吊灯,它是1918年的原物,为德国工匠手工制作,至今仍在使用。

东纵第二进是汪家四子汪泰第的居室,四子从事金融业,抗战前是扬州中国银行的行长,后不行被绑票,撕票。

我们边走边看,这朝北的厢房,不是传统的对开房门,而上抽拉门,门槛上有铜质槽口。

再看地板“藏宝洞“,是木工在修地板时无意发现的,没有两块可以活动的地板,掀开活动地板,是一大块铁板覆盖在地面上特板面层有两只铁把手,边上有两口粗铁环虽已锈迹斑斑,部分剥落,但开关自如。

打开沉重的铁板盖时,发现铁板下有一个藏宝洞,洞深1.5米,长宽1.2米,四壁光滑,推测此洞藏于地板下是当时主人做贮藏贵重物品只用,武力板壁上有暗门,此类暗门在汪氏住宅内有多处。

另外,窗户内固定的玻璃是不用钉子的,为木夹层,玻璃可以顺抽槽活动而替换。

第三进房是次子汪泰麟的居室,他后来在上海从事房地产业,走出了居室,我们看到的是一堵花墙,取“五福”之意开了五扇漏窗,对着门的花窗有吉祥图案,中间是一头大象,叫“万象太平”,象背有桂花图案,大象前方有王母娘娘群玉山房的蟠桃,叫“宝贵长寿”,大象上房是一只倒悬的蝙蝠,寓意“福倒了”,大象下方另有蝙蝠面对大家“迎福”,后壁上有上下两个蝙蝠叫“必有后福”。

出了东路后门再向东转是汪家厨房,从厨房宽敞角度看,汪氏小苑当时吃饭的人及厨师、佣人还是很多的。

厨房外面是后花园的东园,入园立刻给人一种豁然开朗的感觉,这是全苑最大的花园。

我们先看到的是两颗石榴树,石榴多子多福,代表“女”子,右边的核桃伟岸代表“男”子,女和子合起来就是“好”字,和柏树一起就象征“百年好合”了。

庭院西北是浴房,此处的浴缸、瓷砖、地砖为当年的原物,浴房对面是花房,从花房满月门出来,前方是“迎曦”圆门,这是家里的第二个圆门。

踏上这块如意石,我们也就道了汪氏小苑的又一花园,就是第三个花园,园北是书斋,书斋前一颗造型独特的石榴树,既像扬州盆景,又如一条游龙,意为“笔走龙蛇”。

从书斋里面可进入后花厅静瑞馆,馆中冰裂纹飞罩采用的是单面透雕的手法,中心海棠内木雕三组人物:中为“福、禄、寿”三星,寓为三星高照,左为“刘海戏金蟾”,右为“文王求贤”,两侧一组落地罩木雕是岁寒三友“松、竹、梅”的组合,木雕用珍贵的金丝楠木,采用双面透雕技法,反映了当时木雕工艺水平的精良,被专家们成为不可多得的精品。

静瑞馆设有“盐政与盐商”史料馆
【小苑春深】
从小苑春深向南看去,有六角门进入朝南活像,上题“遗庵”,背面还有“藏秘”。

据说这片宅第原来有过一个废弃的小庵,汪家便在园中过去供观音的地方嵌了“遗庵”两字,并种了一片竹园,表示敬重南海紫竹林的观音菩萨。

小苑春深园内有防空洞,并不是文革期间“深挖洞,广积粮”的产物,而上抗战时期的,洞内面积不大,有南北两个进口,洞内还有南北两个壁橱,防空洞边的西廊房有一后门,通马家巷,西为轿房。

【西纵】
从轿房穿过,我们来到了汪家女眷生活的西纵,最南为“秋轩”,花园南门石额题有“可栖徲”。

可栖徲花园门是家里的第三个圆门,这叫“三元及第”,门下半月形白矾石踏步为平浮雕,上有笔,银锭,如意,佛家“万”字符,意为“必定万事如意”,小花园中的地面山一只带有银锭的花瓶上插着三只戟,意为“一定平升三级”,圆形寿字的周围由无数鹅卵石相接,叫“福寿无边”。

汪家由于地势原因,除了房屋建筑和四角花园外,在西界余一块三角地带。

主人巧妙利用花园一角构成船头,而越来越窄的地势变成了船尾。

由于扬州当时盐运主要靠船,那么建造一座船型休闲厅的寓意就不难理解了。

在无水的小花园中主人用砖和鹅卵石相间铺砌成波光粼粼的水纹状,造成水上泛舟的意境。

船厅的主体部分----船头,是女性休闲娱乐的主要场所,女性可以绣花、抚琴、对弈、吟诗。

【中纵】
从西纵的“二门”向东进入小苑的中纵,第一进叫“树德堂”,这是汪家的正堂,树德堂的树字的木旁写成了上下结构,暗喻汪家子女皆为栋梁之才。

后面是老爷汪竹铭及长子汪泰阶、三子汪泰科一家居住的地方。

四角四园的汪氏小苑,游园、安居一举两得,不仅是原汁原味的盐商大宅门,还是许多影楼的摄影基地,希望大家在自由活动的时候多牌几张原汁原味的扬州人家的照片回去给亲友们看,希望有更多的人来我们扬州,祝大家旅途愉快。
