摩托车轮胎的充气压力一般介于147kpa~343kpa之间,有时候有些轮胎规格标注还在后面缀以层级强度,如2.75-17-4pr,表示该轮胎断面宽度尺寸为2.75英寸,轮胎的内径为17英寸,4pr表示该轮胎的帘布层为4层。
英制规格表示方法:英制规格的单位是英寸。(1英寸=2.54厘米)

有人统计过,同一时期轮胎的消耗数量和维修次数与个人的驾驶技术有关,其消耗和维修费用差异可以达到10%~30%。轮胎的保养和维护可以从两方面来讨论,一是路面因素,二是人为因素,但是决定因素还是认为因素,路面因素有时是不可以避免的,如:有时必须得经过冰凌石子、建筑工地和垃圾路面,因而导致了扎伤和刺破轮胎。面对此种情况,我们只能尽量小心或者尽可能地绕道行驶。下面主要谈谈人为因素。

一、有关摩托车轮胎的基本知识
自你购车时,厂家就规定了轮胎的性质、内径、轮子的轮辋尺寸。但是轮胎属于消耗品,只要轮子一转就开始对其磨损,磨损的速度与很多的因素有关。同一条轮胎因所行的路面、所载负荷、驾驶技术、保养和维护水平的不同,其使用的寿命也不同。因此,当轮胎行驶到一定里程时,就应该更换。通常,胎沟不应小于2mm,否则,会因其抓地性差而导致在弯道上发生侧滑,还有可能在高速行驶时发生爆胎等危险事故。这些都是关系到驾驶者生命安全的,所以应该高度重视。

最后一点是经常被摩友所忽视的。即“吃胎”现象,所谓“吃胎”,就是轮胎左右两边的轮胎磨损程度不一样。常见的原因有:左右两边的链轮调节器刻度不一样、前后轮不在一条线、前后轮轴不平行等等。如果摩友发现自己的车有吃胎现象,则应尽快查明原因,仔细地调整,最终彻底地解决“吃胎”问题,因为“吃胎”对于摩托车轮胎来说是致命性的伤害,较其它方式的磨损速率快。另外,对轮胎的维护工作就是应给轮胎加适当的气压,有条件的话,应该严格按照轮胎上所标出的气压来给轮胎加气,因为气压的多少直接关系到轮胎的使用寿命和性能。如果发现气压变低,则要查明漏气的原因。是气嘴漏气还是慢撒气?气嘴漏气则应该检查气门芯是否漏气,还是其它原因。慢撒气则可以向轮胎内注入少量的滑石粉(30g左右),这样可以解决慢撒气故障。
选轮胎时,其规格一定不能错,即便是轮胎宽度窄一点,规格对了都能用,但是如果规格不对,要么装不上,要么装上太松不能用。这样岂不造成了不必要经济损失。确定了正确的规格后,就应该考虑轮胎的宽度了,笔者认为,如果经济允许的话,尽量选购宽一点的轮胎,因为宽胎与地的接触面大,抓地性就好,这样就能很好地传递驱动力和制动力,使发动机性能很好地发挥,提高驾驶的平稳性、舒适性和安全性。最后就得看胎纹了,胎纹仍就是决定轮胎性能的一项重要指标,胎纹的形状决定了它的排水性和排开其它杂物的能力,也影响了其抓地性能。因此,选择合适的胎纹非常重要。同一规格的轮胎就有数十种的胎纹,一般应根据摩友们的实际情况来选择适当的胎纹。如果经常在山地或是泥路、雪地、冰路等路面上行驶,则应该选择越野型的宽胎沟和深胎沟花纹的轮胎,因为胎沟深和宽了,在轮子的转动下,由于离心力的作用便于排开水和其它杂物,使轮胎更好的与地面接触。如果经常在公路上行驶,则应选择胎沟紧密一些的,如环状、箭头状等。这种轮胎在公路上行驶时与地面接触面大,能使行驶时较其它轮胎安全。条件好的摩友可以选择高抓地性轮胎,虽然这种轮胎磨损率较高,但它决对是一种高性能的好胎,无论是排水性,还是附着力都非常好,是一种安全轮胎。
