大学生英语竞赛d类真题作文及答案
大学生英语竞赛d类真题作文及答案College Student English Contest Class D Writing Test and AnswerPart 1: WritingWrite an essay of about 300 words on the following topic:In recent years, the rapid development of technology has greatly impacted people's lives. However, some people argue that technology is making our lives more convenient, while others believe it is causing more harm than good. What is your opinion on this issue? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.Answer:In today's fast-paced world, technology plays a significant role in shaping our daily lives. While some argue that technological advancements have made our lives more convenient, others believe that the negative impacts of technology far outweigh the benefits. In my opinion, technology is a double-edged sword that has both positive and negative effects on our lives. On one hand, technology has revolutionized the way we live and work. The invention of smartphones, computers, and the internet has made communication more efficient and accessible. We can now connect with people around the world within seconds, access information at our fingertips, and even work remotely from the comfort of our homes. This level of convenience and connectivity would not have been possible without technology. However, the overreliance on technology has also brought about several negative consequences. People are becoming increasingly dependent on technology for everyday tasks, such as shopping, banking, and even socializing. This dependence can lead to a lack of face-to-face interactions and a decrease in social skills. Moreover, the constant use of technology can have adverse effects on our physical and mental health, such as eye strain, poor posture, and addiction to screens. In conclusion, while technology has undoubtedly made our lives more convenient, it is important to strike a balance between using technology as a tool and not letting it control our lives. By being mindful of the negative impacts of technology and using it responsibly, we can harness its benefits while minimizing its harm.Part 2: Sample AnswerDo you agree or disagree with the following statement: "All students should be required to learn a second language in school." Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.Answer:I strongly agree with the statement that all students should be required to learn a second language in school. Learning a second language has numerous benefits that extend beyond just being able to communicate in another language.Firstly, learning a second language can improve cognitive skills and academic performance. Studies have shown that students who are bilingual or multilingual have better problem-solving skills, creativity, and critical thinking abilities. By learning a second language, students can enhance their memory, concentration, and overall brain function, which can help them excel in other subjects as well.Secondly, knowing a second language can open up a world of opportunities for students in terms of career prospects and cultural understanding. In today's globalized world, being able to speak more than one language is a valuable skill that can givestudents a competitive edge in the job market. Multinational companies are always on the lookout for employees who can communicate with clients and partners from different countries, and knowing a second language can greatly increase a student's career options.Furthermore, learning a second language can foster a sense of cultural awareness and appreciation. By studying a different language, students can gain insight into the customs, traditions, and values of other cultures, which can help them develop empathy, tolerance, and respect for diversity. In a world that is increasingly interconnected, being able to understand and empathize with people from different backgrounds is essential for promoting harmony and cooperation. In conclusion, requiring all students to learn a second language in school is crucial for their academic, professional, and personal development. By learning a second language, students can enhance their cognitive skills, career prospects, and cultural understanding, which will prepare them to thrive in a globalized society.。

2022年全国大学生英语竞赛b类真题作文
2022年全国大学生英语竞赛b类真题作文The Impact of Globalization on Traditional CulturesIntroductionGlobalization, the process of increased interconnectedness and interdependence among countries, has had a profound impact on traditional cultures around the world. As the world becomes more interconnected through trade, technology, and communication, traditional cultures are facing unprecedented challenges and opportunities. In this essay, we will explore the historical background and development of globalization, analyze different perspectives on its impact on traditional cultures, provide case studies and examples to illustrate key points, critically evaluate the benefits and drawbacks of globalization on traditional cultures, and conclude with future implications and recommendations.Historical Background and DevelopmentGlobalization has been a centuries-long process, with roots in the Silk Road and other historical trade routes that connected different parts of the world. However, the modern era of globalization can be traced back to the post-World WarII period, when advances in technology and transportation made it easier for goods, services, and ideas to flow across borders. The rise of multinational corporations, the spread of the internet, and the increasing ease of international travel have further accelerated the process of globalization in recent decades.Perspectives on the Impact of GlobalizationThere are diverse perspectives on the impact of globalization on traditional cultures. Proponents of globalization argue that it has led to greater cultural exchange and understanding, as people from different parts of the world can now easily connect and learn from each other. They point to the spread of global cuisines, music, and fashion as evidence of the positive impact of globalizationon traditional cultures. On the other hand, critics argue that globalization hasled to the homogenization of cultures, as Western values and consumerism have come to dominate the global cultural landscape. They point to the decline of indigenous languages, traditions, and crafts as evidence of the negative impact of globalization on traditional cultures.Case Studies and ExamplesOne example of the impact of globalization on traditional cultures can be seen in the rise of ecotourism in indigenous communities. While ecotourism has brought economic opportunities to these communities, it has also led to the commodification of their traditions and the erosion of their cultural authenticity. Another example can be seen in the spread of fast food chains and multinational retailers to different parts of the world, which has led to the standardization of diets and consumer preferences, often at the expense of local traditions and cuisines.Critical Evaluation of the Impact of GlobalizationThe impact of globalization on traditional cultures is a complex and multifaceted issue. On one hand, globalization has brought economic opportunities and technological advancements to many traditional cultures, allowing them to participate in the global economy and access new markets. On the other hand, ithas also led to the erosion of cultural diversity and the loss of traditional knowledge and practices. It is important to critically evaluate the impact of globalization on traditional cultures and strive to find a balance that preserves cultural diversity while embracing the benefits of global interconnectedness.Future Implications and RecommendationsLooking ahead, it is important to consider the future implications of globalization on traditional cultures. As the process of globalization continuesto evolve, it is essential to find ways to protect and preserve traditionalcultures while also embracing the opportunities that come with increased interconnectedness. Governments, businesses, and individuals can work together tosupport and promote traditional cultures through initiatives such as cultural preservation programs, fair trade practices, and sustainable tourism. By taking a proactive and inclusive approach to globalization, we can ensure that traditional cultures continue to thrive in the globalized world. In conclusion, the impact of globalization on traditional cultures is a complex and multifaceted issue that requires careful consideration and evaluation. By exploring the historical background and development of globalization, analyzing different perspectives, providing case studies and examples, critically evaluating the benefits and drawbacks, and offering future implications and recommendations, we can gain a deeper understanding of this important issue. It is crucial to find a balance that preserves cultural diversity while embracing the opportunities that come with increased interconnectedness in the globalized world.。

This is particularly relevant in the context of the English writing contest, where participants are required to produce high-quality essays within strict time constraints. Toexcel in such a competition, students must demonstrate a tenacious commitment to honing their writing skills through constant practice and feedback. Moreover, the integration of technology into education has presented new challenges and opportunities for students. While the use of digital tools and resources has madeinformation more accessible, it has also led to a deluge of information that can be overwhelming. In this scenario, perseverance becomes crucial in sifting through the noise and focusing on what is relevant and valuable for academic growth.Furthermore, the rapid pace of technological change demands that students adapt quickly and effectively. This adaptability is fostered by perseverance, as it requires students to embrace new learning methods and techniques, such as online learning and collaborative projects. By persevering in their efforts to adapt, students not only enhance their academic performance but also prepare themselves for the future workforce.Additionally, perseverance cultivates resilience in the face of failure. In the competitive landscape of the English writing contest, rejection or disappointment is inevitable. However, it is through perseverance that students learn to view failure as an opportunity for growth and refinement. They learn to dust themselves off, reevaluate their approach, and try again with renewed vigor and determination. In conclusion, the National College English Writing Contest serves as a powerful testament to the value of perseverance in the age of technological revolution. As students navigate the changing educational landscape, they must embrace perseverance as a key ingredient in their academic toolbox. By persevering in their efforts to hone their writing skills, adapt to new technologies, and learn from failure, they will not only excel in competitive environments but also lay the foundation for a successful and fulfilling academic and professional career.**毅力在科技革命时代的力量**在一个科技以前所未有的速度重塑我们世界的时代,毅力在实现学术和职业成功中的重要性不容忽视。

2003年全国大学生英语竞赛初赛试题翻译部分Part VI Translation(10 minutes,10 points)Directions:Translate the underlined sentences of the following passage into Chinese on the Answer Sheet.TASTE A WORLD OF DIFFERENCEWherever you are in the world,it seems, the billboards and supermarket shelves are saturated with the same brand names. There are few places left on the planet where you can't buy a Diet Coke,a packet of Kellogg's cornflakes,or Oxo cubes. But just try tasting them.(101)The packaging and the product may look identical, but the flavour maybe far from familiar.Even the most famous brand names are specially for-mulated to appeal to individual national palates.Heinz, for instance, insists that its tomato ketchup is“the same recipe worldwide”,but admits that“there maybe very subtle variations in the spicing”.Even the ultimate global brand,Coca-Cola,accepts that not all its products are what they appear to be.“We go to great lengths to ensure that Coca-Cola is the same wherever you drink it,”says a spokesman.“But Diet Coke may change slightly from country to country, because we use different sweeteners in different places.”Americans prefer many products, particularly chocolate,to be far more sugary than Europeans do.(102)The French perceive strawberry flavour in a different way from the British,so the artificial flavouring in France will not have a“proper”strawberry taste to Britons.Preferences for saltiness and color differ as well, and most Japanese consumers dislike the taste of milk. The French in general prefer stronger,fuller-tasting coffee than the British. There is a higher cream content in a Magnum in Italy than in Britain, because the Italians expect ice-cream to have a much richer taste.Tea sold in Europe tends to be weaker than the strong tea preferred by Britons.(103)Taste preferences can vary even within countries:at least one well-known soft drink is made according to a sweeter recipe in the southern states of the United States than that on sale in the north.Local water and soil will affect the taste of home-grown natural ingredients. Some key constituents may not be available, meaning that alternatives must be found.Sometimes, especially in developing countries, premium grade components, such as high-grade flour, are replaced with lower-quality equivalents.(104)Extremes in climate will require different additives and preservatives to be used.Chocolate calls for an alternative recipe in hot countries if it is to maintain its texture and taste. And multinationals must conform to national laws and regulations on additives, flavorings, colorings, and artificial low-calorie sweeteners.Mars and Snickers bars taste slightly different in Australia, since laws there state that vegetable fat must not be used in chocolate.Local religious sensibilities must also be observed.(105)Even McDonald's,which proclaims the homogeneity of its Big Macs(巨无霸)around the globe, has to serve lamb rather than beef burgers in India, because the sacred status of cows means thatthe majority of its Indian customers can't eat beef.Part VII Writing(30 minutes,20 points)Directions:The chart below shows the amount of leisure time enjoyed by men and women of different employment status.Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information shown below. You should write at least 150 words.Leisure time in a typical week:by sex and employment status,1998-99Part VI Translation (10 points)101. 包装和产品也许看起来是完全一样的,但是味道也许跟所熟悉的相差甚远。

2023年全国大学生英语作文竞赛c类真题
2023年全国大学生英语作文竞赛c类真题My Big Trip to Beijing!Hi everyone! My name is Lily and I'm 10 years old. I just went on the most amazing trip to Beijing with my mom and dad over spring break. We had so much fun and I saw so many cool things!I want to tell you all about it.We started our trip by taking the high-speed train from Shanghai. I had never been on a bullet train before! It went super fast, like an actual bullet. We got to Beijing in just 4 hours when it would take like 12 hours to drive there. The seats were really comfy too and they gave us snacks. When we got to Beijing, the first place we went was Tiananmen Square. It's this huge square in the middle of the city with a really tall monument called the Monument to the People's Heroes. We took lots of pictures in front of it. There were also two big buildings on opposite sides of the square with giant pictures of Chairman Mao hanging on them. My dad told me he was the founder of modern China. From Tiananmen Square, we walked into the Forbidden City right next door. This was my favorite part! The Forbidden City used to be the palace for Chinese emperors and their familiesand servants. No one else was allowed inside, which is why it's called the Forbidden City. It's made up of nearly 1,000 buildings and you could spend days exploring it.My favorite buildings were the big halls where the emperors would have meetings and ceremonies. They were painted bright red and yellow with beautiful decorations. There were also little gardens with ponds and trees tucked away behind the buildings. We saw the emperor's bedroom and living quarters too. Everything was just so pretty and intricately designed! The next day, we went to the Great Wall of China! This was definitely the most tiring but coolest part of our trip. We took a bus to a section called Mutianyu. I had seen pictures of the Great Wall before, but it was even more massive and amazing in person. It stretched out over the mountains as far as the eye could see in both directions. We started hiking and it was super steep at some points. My legs were sore by the end! But the views from the top were breathtaking. We could see the green mountains all around us. Parts of the Great Wall were all crumbly and broken down, but other parts were newly renovated. It was wild to think that this huge wall was built over 2,000 years ago by hand with just ramps and buckets to move all the bricks and stones. No machines! After the Great Wall, we visited some other cool places in Beijing. We went to the Summer Palace, which used to be the emperors' vacation home. They had these beautiful gardens, temples, bridges and a huge lake there. We also went to the Lama Temple, which is a Tibetan Buddhist site. The buildings were so colorful and ornate. We even saw monks praying inside. My favorite non-monument place we went was Wangfujing Street. This was a busy pedestrian shopping area with every kind of store and snack you could imagine! We got freshly made jianbing (a kind of crepe), delicious juicy peaches, candies, and toys. We also had to try the famous Beijing roast duck for dinner one night. It was crispy on the outside and super juicy inside - yum!Throughout the trip, we used subway trains and buses to get around Beijing. I was impressed that I could read a lot of the signs myself thanks to studying Chinese characters at school. The subway made it easy to zip all over the huge city quickly.By the end of the week, we were pretty tired from all the walking and sightseeing in the hot spring weather. But I had such an incredible time in Beijing! I made so many wonderful memories exploring China's history, seeing the iconic landmarks, trying new foods, and experiencing a different culture. I'll neverforget this amazing family vacation. Thanks for reading all about my big trip!。

It is perseverance that helps them keep going, even when they feel like giving up.It is the same with life's other challenges. Whether it's a personal goal we are striving to achieve or a societalissue we are trying to address, perseverance is what keeps us going. However, perseverance does not mean stubbornly sticking to one path regardless of the outcome. It is about finding the balance between persistence and adaptability. It is about learning from failures, adjusting our strategies, and trying again. It is about understanding that success doesnot always come easily and that it often requires hard work, dedication, and the willingness to embrace failure. Moreover, perseverance is not just about the individual. Our perseverance becomes a beacon of hope for those who arestruggling and a reminder that with enough effort and determination, anything is possible. In conclusion, perseverance is a powerful tool that can help us overcome various difficulties in life. It is the driving force that propels us forward when faced with challenges and the fire in our bellies that burns brighter when the road ahead seems tough. Part v Translation (20marks)Section A (10 mark)Translate the underlined sentences in the following passage into Chinese. Remember to write the answers on the answer sheet.A soaring dropout rate is causing the United Stated to lose ground educationally to rivals abroad and is trapping millions of young American at the very margins of the economy. (76)The Obama administration acknowledges the problems in its new budget, which includes a $50 million prevention programme, but solving this problem will require a lot more money and a comprehensive national strategy. The alarming scope of the dropout crisis is laid out by the Center for Labor Market Studies at Northeastern University in Boston and the Alternative Schools Network in Chicago. (77)Their study, which examines data from the 12 largest states, finds that 16 percent of the ages of 16 to 24 have dropped out.(78) The problem is especially pronounced among men, who make up more than 60 percent of those who change school nationally. The dropout problem hits minorities really hard.(79) Many of this country’s large urban high schools are rightly called ―dropout factories‖ because more students leave school than graduate. According to the study, state dropout rates are highest in the South, where Gerorgia (22.1 percent), Florida (20.1 percent) and Texas (18.5percent) lead the way.(80) The dropout crisis presents a clear danger to national prosperity, but at the moment, states and localities are struggling to contain it with little help or guidance from the federal government. Congress, which is just waking up to this issue, can improve the situation by the putting its money and muscle behind proven programmes that have been shown to re-engage young people who have dropped out, and that keep at-risk children on track to complete their educations.Section B (10 marks)Translate the following sentences into English, using the words given in brackets.
