Good morning/afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. It‟s my great hornor to take part in this competetion. I‟m very pleased to stand here to show my teaching ideas. The title of this unit is “I like music that I can dance to” from the text“go for it” book 9 unit 6 for junior middle school students. I‟ll illustrate my section B from the following 6 aspects: teaching materials, teaching methods, learning strategies, teaching procedures, blackboard layout and teaching evaluations.First of all, I‟ll talk about teaching materials.It includes 3 aspects: status and functions, teaching aims and teaching contents.Firstly,status and functions.Based on the National English Curriculum, our text book “go for it” is to stimulate and cultivate students‟ interest and their confidence in learning English, help them develop good learning habits, enable students to master basic English knowledge and skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, and increase their awareness of the cultural differences.Secondly, teaching contents. In this unit, I‟ll enable Ss to learn to talk about their future intentions and to make their life plans.Thirdly,teaching aims.It includes knowledge aims, ability aims, and affection aims. For knowledge aims, students will be able to the key words, and structures to talk about their future jobs. For ability aims, Ss will learn to exchange their ideas about future plan, so that they can get some suggestions from each other and move toward their life goals. For affection aims, Ss will learn to make a plan about their future, set life goals for themselves, and try every effort to achieve their goals and get them to understand “No pains, no gains.”Now, let‟s come to the second part, teaching methods. In my class I‟ll adopt 2 methods, the communicative language teaching and the task—based language teaching. This is a student-centered class, I'll encourage my students to solve some problems bythemselves. So I‟ll mainly use the task-based language teaching. This method aims at providing opportunities for the learners to experiment with and explore both spoken and written language, I‟ll create some realistic situations to let students to fulfill several tasks by problem-solving and cooperating. I also adopt the communicative language teaching to train students how to use the language appropriately in communicative situations.Now, I'd like to say my 3rd part, learning strategies. One of the main tasks of the National English Curriculum is to help students form effective learning strategies. H ere‟re4 strategies which are beneficial for students‟learning. I‟d like to focus on reading as an example. I‟ll encourage my students to predict, to summarize and to find specific information through skimming, scanning and discussion.Next, let‟s move to the most im portant part, teaching procedures. I arranged 7 steps: warm-up, lead-in, pre-task, task-cycle, post-task, conclusion, and homework..First step,warm-up.At the very beginning of the class, I‟ll guide my students to imagine what they would like to be after 10 years. I‟ll start in this way: boys and girls, how old are you now? you‟re 14! You‟re13! Ok, now let‟s imagine what are you going to be after 10 years? Now let‟s watch a short video about jobs. And pay attention to how many jobs it mentiond? (画画) afterwatching,Ss can volunteer to answer my question. This activity can stimulate students‟interests and let them get involved in the English atmosphere.Step 2, lead—in. In this part, as a teacher, I‟ll prepare students linguistically for the tasks, draw on students‟existing knowledge and arouse students‟ interest. First of all, I‟ll show some pictures of different jobs and get Ss to have a brainstormming to speak out their dreaming jobs. I‟ll tell my students like this:Boys and girls, I know that you have your favorite jobs, now let‟s talk about this topics“What are you going to be when you grow up? How are you going to achieve it?. Now open your mouth and tell yourpartners, and after several minutes, I‟ll ask someone to talk your ideas. In this activitiy, students can exchange ideas about future plan.Next step is pre--task. As we all know, the christmas day is coming, and Ss are creazy about it, especially receiving gifts from father chrismas, I‟ll set a scene about this to arouse students‟ inte rests. “Hello, boys and girls, I‟m father christmas. Now I‟ll give you a special gift, guess, what is it? Look, it‟s a wishes box. Now, please make a wish, and tell me “what are you going to do next year?” and put them in this magical box, I‟m sure your wishes will come ture. Ok, I‟ll put some of the wishes. Oh, there is a family wish. Let‟s look at what they re going to do next year. (点鼠标,小雪出来)I‟m going to make my dancing more beautiful. (点鼠标,刘星出来)“Oh, I‟m going to study more crosstalk like Feng gong. It‟s interesting! (点鼠标,小雨出来) “I‟m going to cook much more delicious food for my family. Through this activity, students will get to know how to express their new year‟s resolutions in different ways.Next,task-cycle.It includes listening, reading and speaking.First, Ss will be asked to finish 1a. read the new year‟s resolutions and match them with the correct picture.Then we move to listening. Before this activity, I will give a breif introduction like this: boys and girls, now you‟ll hear a short dailog about talking new year‟s resolutions, please listen carefully and circle the resolutions in 1a that you hear. I‟ll play the recording twice, the first time to let students finish this excersise. The second time, I‟ll pause the tape sentence by sentence to g ive students enough time to fill in the chart. After that, I‟ll check the answer.Task 2,reading. It‟s composed of pre-reading, while-reading and post-reading.Pre—reading activities could be pooling existing knowledge about the topic, predicting the contents of the text and atracting students‟attention. In pre-reading, I‟ll show some pictures aboutdifferent resolutions ask them have a disscution about “what‟s your new year‟s resolution?” So I can naturally go to the while—reading.The while-reading is the task students understand the text in detail, the purpose is to develop their reading strategies and increase their language effeciency including skiming and scanning the text, and learning key words and structures. First ly, I‟ll ask my students skim the three passages quickly to find the main idea. And then I‟ll ask them scan the passages to make a list. Later, I‟ll underline the difficult words and phrases, and pick up some of them to explain. For example, “a lot of and a few”, first I‟ll present the different uses of the phrases, and then I‟ll teach them by setting scene: Now, my students, look at Pluto, he is very thin, he said “I‟m too thin, so I‟m going to eat a lot of cakes, lots of meat and noodles” . but, look at Garfiled, he is so fat. He said “I‟m too fat, so I‟m going to eat a lof vegetables and a little cheese. It‟s boring!”next word “fit”, I‟ll tell my students “look at me, I never eat medicine, never go to the doctor, I‟m fit. But, I‟m a little heavy, so I do excersise to keep fit.”And then, I‟ll ask them to underline some target sentences which have “be going to…” to impress them.After explain the knowledge of the passages, I‟ll tell my students how to have a further study. Students will be asked to make a “Knowledge box“, they can put so me words and phreases in the box every day. After a week, they can take them out to review some knowledge they have learned.The post-reading will provide the students with opportunities to relate what they have read to what they already know. Teachers have to be most inventive or imaginative. We have to design tasks which are relevant to the text being studied and apporiate to the sudents‟ level. In this part, I‟ll present the passage again, and tell them “ok, I have put some words out, so you have to put them in these passage.”In this way, Ss will have many revisions about the pasage. After that, I‟ll check the answer.Next step is speaking. In this task, I‟ll devide my class into 2 groups and get them to have debate about “our earth is going tobe more beautiful or polutted.” S tudents will say “our earth is going to be more beautiful, beause the air will become fresher.” Others will say “our earth will be poluuted, because many animals are going to be die.”This topic can help Ss review the key sentence structures, and it‟s close to students daily life, so they will be very active and talk a lot about it.Ok, let‟s move to post-task. “Jobs offers”. Now, my students, look at the beautiful picture, do you know where it is? It‟s Seatle. The famous company “Microsoft headquarters”is here. Now, the founder Bill Gates will offer you some jobs in his company, now you have a chance to have an interview. Please think carefully and tell the human reasourse manager “what are you going to be in this company?”Then I‟ll show the requierments. Now, let‟s do this activity in groups. In this part, Ss will say “I‟m going to be an assistant. I‟ll work harder…” , the HR will say “you‟re excellent, you…ll be employer, welcome.” Also they will say “I don‟t think you‟re not suit this job, you have to learn more knowledge, I‟m sorry…”This game can not only help them to review the sentence patterns, but also motivate their interest.After the game, I‟ll get my Ss watch an MV and listen to the beautiful song. I‟ll tell them “my students, it‟s very important to have a goal, and most importantly, you have to do your best to achive this goals, so your life will be wonderful. Maybe there are many difficulties, you must be very bravely to face it and insist on your dream. Please remember “no pains, no gains, try your best, you‟re the best!”Next part I‟ll ask students to make a conclusion in groups. Some groups summarize the key words, others summarize the target sentences.In the next stage, assignment will be given to students. Make a list of your Near Year‟s Resolution, and write a short paragragh about how you can achieve it, and introduce it to your classmates next time.Let‟s look at blackboard layout. I‟ll writ e some key words and phrases on the left, and target sentences on theright, also I‟ll draw a picture. Students will learn the key words and structures by heart.The last part is teaching evaluation. Students are the main part in my class, and I‟m the organizer, director and helper over class, students will learn with interests because of using pictures, videos and games. Also I‟ll introduce different learning strategies to help their learning more effectively. That‟s all, thank you for your attention!。
