The importance of doing small things

From the carton, we can clearly see that the boy is worried about disposing of nuclear waste, while his father tells him to empty the dustbin first. This carton reminds me of a Chinese saying: If you don't clean the room (solve your problems), then how can you control the world. However, most people always attach great importance to something big, but neglect small things.

In my opinion, it is necessary and important to do small things. On the one hand, doing small things well helps us to develop good habits, which set a good foundation for our future development. Exaggerated as the picture is, the phenomenon behind it is rather thought-provoking. With the development of high-tech equipment, especially smart phones, people in growing numbers tend to become addicted to the excessive use of them. According to a survey carried out in China Daily several days ago, almost 47% of citizens explain that they would experience certain kind of anxiety without cellphones at hand. Meanwhile, the overusing cellphones, firstly would exert detrimental impact on the health of us. What's worse, it would perform a negative character in interpersonal relationship since we have less time to communicate.

Judging from the evidence above, certain measures should be taken. Firstly, certain institutions in China should launch relevant campaigns to limit the excessive use of cellphones. Moreover, we, as college students, should put emphasis on it right from ourselves as a start.

The modern technology has greatly altered the mode of communication among people. With the help of the Internet, people can easily contact each other anytime anywhere. However, the side effect is that many people have become over-dependent on the Internet and neglected face-to-face communication.

As far as I'm concerned, electronic communication cannot fully replace the direct contact among people. Although it seems to bring everyone together, it actually estranges people and decreases the effectiveness of communication. A typical example is that, traditionally, people working in the same office simply walk to others and talk. Today, however, co-workers tend to send e-mails or instant messages through the Internet even when they are sitting next to each other.
