Introduction
• Chronology • Interface introduced by Gilbert Corning under the trademark GPPO in the late 90’s to address the needs of Telecom OEM’s for a very high frequency ultra miniature RF connector • Radiall launched a compatible version in partnership with Nortel Networks in May 2001 and called it initially SSBMO • During the 2001 recession, wel stopped the qualification of SSBMO • The project is restarted end 2004 in collaboration with Tyco Electronics to ensure full compatibility between both manufacturers and with GPPO of Gilbert • Tyco set apart from Radiall end 2005 and we continue the development on our own • The interface name becomes known as SMPM in MIL-STD-348A • Radiall is member of the standardization committee
