ⅠTeaching material

Part A Let’s talk of PEP BookⅡUnit 6 .

This lesson includes two parts :let’s talk and let’s practice .In section 1,it mainly deals with the dialogue about “It’s …”and “It has …”.And in section2,it provides a game for the students to practice the pattern “I have…”.

ⅡTeaching aims

1 Aims on the knowledge

(1)To enable the students to master the new words: big, small, long, short, funny.

(2)To enable the students to understand and speak :It’s… and It has … .

Make sure that the students can use these sentences in real situations.

2 Aims on the ability

(1)To develop the students’ abilities of listening and speaking.

(2)To train the students’ abilities of working in groups .

3 Aims on the emotion

To foster the students consciousness of cooperation and proper competition .

2 Sentences: It’s …and It has …

3 To develop the students’ interest in English .

ⅣDifficult points

To help the students describe an animal with It’s …and It has …And make sure that they can use these sentences in real situations .

ⅤTeaching methods

In this lesson ,I’ll mainly use “ Task-based”teaching method. That is to say, I’ll let the students learn in real situations. I’ll arrange four kinds of activities: singing, chanting, guessing game and role play.

And in this lesson, a recorder ,CAI,animal cards,word cards will be needed .

ⅥTeaching steps .

Step1 Warm – up

1 Greetings.

2 Watch a cartoon and sing a song “Animals”.

3 Free talk

T: What’s your favorite animal ?

Ss: I like …

Step2 Presentation

1 After the free talk, I’ll show some animal pictures to the students .

T: Come on,children. I bring some animal friends here, look ! What’s this ?

(1) a big elephant (2) a small mouse (3) a long dog (4) a short rabbit (5) a funny monkey

Then teach these new words with word cards .Make sure everyone can read the words fluently. Invite some students to teach reading .

2 Then in order to consolidate the new words, ask the students to say a chant: Look at the elephant!

It is big . Soooo big!

Look at the mouse!

It is small. Soooo small!

...

3 Guessing game.

T: Now look at the screen , here are some body parts , can you guess what it is ?

(1) Rabbit’s short tail

T: What’s this?

Ss: It’s a rabbit .

T: Look! It has a short tail .

Teach this sentence with a card. Then ask the students to read it one by one.
